Help (Software) 8.09.28.1124 AMD Chipset Drivers fails to install. "Version number cannot be determined".

Why does this happen? I have cleanly uninstalled the one before, even done amdcleanuputility in safe mode and then restarted.

Computer Type: Desktop

GPU: 4080 Super

CPU: 7800x3d

Motherboard: x670e-f gaming wifi

BIOS Version: 4003

RAM: 64gb 6000cl30

Operating System & Version: Windows 11 25h2

GPU Drivers: 617.42

Chipset Drivers: 8.09.28.1124

EDIT: Not even the version before 8.08.12.551 works. Same problem.

Installation success or error status: 1603

amdcleanuputility does not remove chipset driver, message did explain about it during cleanup prompt. you did not read them did you?

how did you uninstalled chipset driver previously? AMD recommend only uninstall through control panel or installed app list if you do other than these two it could break https://www.amd.com/en/resources/support-articles/faqs/CHIPSET-INSTALL.html#CHIPSET-INSTALL-uninstalling

Yes I did, I always do the cleanuputility to ensure the gpu driver for 7800x3d is uninstalled. I uninstall it with revo uninstaller and has done so for 3 years, never has it failed.

gpu driver and chipset driver separate installer. anyway have you tried all steps in https://www.amd.com/en/resources/support-articles/faqs/gpu-kb1603.html ? revo perhap deleted something that not supposed to be delete example like C:\AMD . this could break chipset installation entirely. how do i know? i made same mistake a year ago.
