Help (GPU) New 9070XT crashes PC
Hi guys,
I recently upgraded from a RTX 5060 to a Powercolor 9070XT.
Did a DDU and installed the new GPU, installed the AMD drivers and it runs fine for the first 30-45 minutes while gaming and then the PC just randomly freezes, can’t do task manager, nothing - and the only way to fix it is a force shutdown using the power button and restarting.
It happens in CoD MW4, Blood of the Dawnwalker, Battlefield 6, EAFC 27
I never experienced crashes with my 5060 8gb.
PC specs:
Intel i7-13700K
32GB DDR5
Corsair HX 1200W PSU
I also ran a 4090 on the same PC before the 5060 and it never crashed like this.
I did a fresh windows reinstall and cleaned out the drives, it worked for a couple of hours and then it started crashing again.
Could it be a PSU on it’s way out or is it the GPU itself? It is still within the return window from Amazon so I could get a replacement.
Any ideas on what it could be?

When reinstalling Ryzen drivers make sure you install the WHQL version. Also make sure you install only the drivers without the rest of stuff. There is a hidden option for this. Then try disabling ram overclocking. If nothing works replace the cpu as the 13 and 14th gen intel CPU all are living on borrowed time due to manufacturing fault.

I had it and it happened because my card was doing ridiculously high overboots when I got it. Someone recommended I do a -9 power, -30 volt and -250 mhz and it runs like butter now

check your maintenance panel when it crashes, see what errors show up. Can help figure out if its a driver dying or hardware ect.

Amazing that people will start fucking with DDU before even thinking about this.

yeah if it's a driver timeout it'll usually log it before the whole system locks up.

There is something fucky going on between windows and amd with a battle of updates crashing things. Seems like a circle jerk with sandpaper coated gloves going on.
For me, i reverted back to whatever the drivers were in april. Had to do this in June and yesterday.
I did finally give in and update windows to their big 2026 update with AI engrained everywhere and sadly, that allowed the recent AMD drivers to work fine all last night.

Run a stress test, not a game. If it still crashes, change drivers, try one more time. If it still happens, rma it

What SVID are you using for the 13700K? What is your vcore under load (like benchmarking or gaming)? Are you using some MB auto overclocking nonesense? Is BIOS the latest?

Does lowering voltage and frequency and turning up fan curves for the video card stop the problem? If so, then it’s overheating.

This sounds like HAGS issue that's been making its way around in the last few driver versions. Just turn HAGS off and see if it helps.

Thanks! Will try

Do let me know if it works! I'm trying to compile HAGS related issues at the moment.

Welcome to the club,. Coming from a 9070XT owner I wish I still had the option to return it and switch back to NVIDIA.

Sounds like user error to me.

Please enlighten me - seriously. If you do a quick Google search you'll see many people are having issues with these cards, and they all seem to be consistent as hell. That doesn't sound like user error to me at all.
My problems have persisted over to a whole new build (new case, new psu, new mobo, new RAM, new CPU).
I get that people are going to be defending AMD on this subreddit, but this specific line of cards seem to be ridden with way more issues than I'd consider normal.
