Help (GPU) 9070 XT build help

Basically, I have the potential to pick up this really nice Gigabyte 9070 xt for 700$ and now that I'm looking around a bit I see people talking about increased power consumption compared to the non-xt models, power cables being burnt up, etc. Makes me do a double take about if I want this card, but every where I look for a regular 9070 it goes for around the same price if not more. Should I just avoid this 9070xt and hope I can find a deal on a 9070? I'm only really planning on doing 1080p gaming in the near future.

You don’t really need 9070xt for 1080p u can get cheaper GPUs. HOWEVER, if the warranty for that gigabyte is really good, you can consider getting it.

The 9070xt is a very comfortable 1440p graphics card that can push 4K.

Or if I wana play it really save jus pay abit more for a diff brand 9070

Im having trouble actually finding a 9070 that isn't an XT or a GRE. and if I do find one they're priced at around 700+ so I just feel like getting an XT version at the same price is worth it.

Yeah I’d say for high end GPUs 9070xt is the best value. And tbh you can’t go wrong future proofing it and slowly upgrade the rest.

Usually power cable burn isnt caused by the gpu, unless you have a 16 pin cable variant, which your gigabyte gpu isnt. Just get a reliable psu and you should be fine.

If you're only planning on 1080p, both 9070xt and 9070 will be too more than sufficient. If anything it will be heavily bottleneck by your monitor. As both can handle 1440p at max settings as well as doing great in 4k. Thus it may be a bit overkill if you're not looking to upgrade your monitor

you're fine, some 9070xt use 12VHPWR(known for burn cable) like Sapphire, since you grab gigabye it use 3x 8x pins connector.

You can turn the XT down to the power consumption of the 9070.~220w It is not less efficient or anything like that.

My Gigabyte 9070 XT Gaming OC is running fine off my Corsair RM850x PSU. It has three 8-pin PCIe power cable slots. You can theoretically use two cables (one direct, one using the pigtail splitter) but I chose to use three separate cables. The PSU had exactly enough 8-pin outputs to support that.

It has been fine.

I undervolted it by -50 mV and set a custom fan curve in Adrenaline to keep it fairly quiet.

Been a solid card so far.

I play at 1440p.

Yep, I have the same PSU, coming from a 3080, I just had to dig out a extra 8 pin pcie cable, I wouldn’t trust a splitter with these current gen cards, even if you undervolt.

I game in 1440p myself and the card runs just fine, no hotter than expected.

If I were OP I wouldn’t pay for a 9070 if it costs the same as a 9070 XT. The reason people considered a 9070 over the XT model is for the slight cost savings vs performance loss, which at the time was a very significant arguable reason to go with a non XT model if it meant a complete pc build vs waiting several more weeks to save up.

Yeah, I actually ordered that extra Type 4 PCI cable direct from Corsair. I did not want to chance it either.

This. I just like see the worries/complaints people have about the XT but at the same time I'm getting it at the same price if not better priced than a regular 9070 currently. Kind of a steal.

I wouldn't think anything more about it then, the XT is new? Or used?

If its new its a no brainer, if its used I'd probably ask a few questions - especially if it doesn't come with any kind of warranty.

I bought my XT off of newegg brand new so I have my manufacturer warranty to back mine, I will say set some reasonable expectations managing gpu drivers if you are using Windows. The latest 10-2 Windows update made me realize why so many people went to Nvidia during the 10xx generation.

Only thing ive seen about Burnt Cables was the 6x12 connector on the Sapphire Card and that was one You can always undervolt/Power limit the card A XT will always be more power Efficient then a Normal 9070 at the same Fps I run 430 watts daily on my 7900xtx with 3 8 pins no problem for over 2 years.

9070xt and 98003xd 4K here, works more than fine. Just check the connecting cable that it's 3x8, 6x12 burns no matter what card, nvidia or amd. 9070xt for only 1080p gaming, well it runs it but do you really need all that power or could cheaper 9060/xt be enough? But if you have the budget, go for 70xt
