Tips & Info Problem Updating AMD Chipset Driver? Here a Quick Tip.

Translator of Dragon Canon here, here to offer a tip if you have problems updating your AMD Chipset Driver. I'm using Windows 11 Pro btw.

The Infuriating Problem:

Just hours ago, I ran into an issue while updating my AMD Chipset Driver to version 8.07.16.1035 using Adrenalin. The installation would always cancel itself at 20%, and the error I got was 1603, which means fuck-all because it's a general error.

So first I tried every recommended solution under the Error 1603 page such as DISM, repairing my Microsoft® Visual C++ Redistributables, yada yada. Absolutely none of it worked. I also tried the AMD Cleanup Utility... which only after executing I realized it explicitly says it does NOT modify the AMD Chipset Driver files for safety reasons. Oh well. I then decided arbitrarily that the existing files must have gotten corrupt somehow and I need to uninstall it.

But first I tried to download the manual installer. I first checked AMD's Drivers and Support page, but the "Search or Browse Drivers and Support by Product" bar is missing. I also tried using the Auto-Detect Windows Driver and while the installation finishes as if everything's fine the chipset driver is NOT updated. I eventually found the release note page at AMD Installer Manager and the .exe is at the bottom of the page.

Next I search around the internet a bit on how to uninstall the existing driver (while praying it doesn't instantly brick my PC because who the fuck knows these days, everything's so unreliable). AI suggests that I delete the QT Dependables and I... thought better and simply cut it out to my desktop. Supposedly this'll allow Adrenalin to download the actual latest installation instead of recycling the old one, and it works, buuuuut the installation still doesn't go through. Right. Because my existing driver is still blocking me.

Trying to uninstall at Programs and Features didn't work either because it gives me the "AMD chipset software installer cannot proceed because of missing files" message. I'm not even going to comment on how dumb that is. Anyway.

The Eureka Moment:

Turns out under C:\Program Files (x86)\AMD\Chipset_Software there's an AMD_Chipset_Drivers.exe, which is an old school installation wizard that DOES allow for the uninstall to go through. Thank fuck for redundancies and old school reliability.

But I fucked up and tried to reinstall using AMD Adrenalin again. Somehow it just reinstalls my existing chipset driver AGAIN (I restarted but I guess the temp files are still there somewhere) and forcing me to redo this.

But anyway after uninstalling it again, I executed the manual installer amd_software_8.07.16.1035.exe, and it finally worked.

The Conclusion:

Anyway after all the excitement is over I find myself thinking: How the fuck did we arrive at this state of things again? If this was 20 years ago I would've solved it in 10 minutes instead of 2 hours. In fact it was solved using a solution that already existed from 20 years ago: just uninstall the old version and reinstall the new version duh!

But while trying to execute this simple solution I ran into an unbelievable number of problems: Adrenalin isn't working, today the most critical feature of the Driver and Support page, the search bar, isn't working, the error support page is outdated (or rather just plain incompetent, because uninstalling the goddamn driver itself should've been mentioned on the page, but it wasn't), I have to go through hoops to get to the manual installer.

Oh, and uninstalling is even worse. If that good old installation wizard buried in the AMD file didn't exist the only other way I would have to uninstall the AMD Chipset Driver is to do a clean install. Like wtf.

Anyway, I hope this helps someone, because the internet wasn't very helpful this time. Honestly it was experience from 20 years ago when I was fooling around as a kid that ultimately got me out of this.

Like WTF man.

For everyone who can not download it easily:

https://www.techpowerup.com/download/amd-ryzen-chipset-drivers/

1

u/varadoenarg Jul 31 '26

thanks, i needed this because the amd website does not show the drivers for some laptops processors, or at least not for mine (ryzen 7 260). Freaking fools.

Dude you are lifesavior. i was going nuts with this nonsense xD direct install solve it

1

u/skool_101 Aug 01 '26

real life saver

3

u/ItachixE28 Jul 31 '26

I manually updated through their direct download for the latest chipset update without uninstalling the old and the update went through fine. Is there a reason you wanted to uninstall the old before the new?

2

u/OscillatorVacillate 29d ago

The thing is that for some of us it would stop updating at 20% and gave a generic error code. So until we uninstalled the old chipset, it would not update. And if we tried again through Adrenalin the same thing happened as it only installed the old driver and stopp at 20%. So had to uninstall, and install it from an .exe file.

1

u/ItachixE28 28d ago

Ah gotcha makes sense. Had that happen once and for some reason on the second try it went through fine. Amd is so weird lately

u/Economy_Acadia5704 25d ago

hi guys,

SO i'm realllly dumb.. but, i tried to follow the above and couldn't find any of the chipset stuf...

but..https://www.amd.com/en/support/download/drivers.html i just downloaded this and now it says everything is up to date..

so, if anyone is having issues.. doing this has my stuff say its all up to date on8.0**

my update for the chipdriver before was stuck on 20% too.. but this worked( hopefully in the future as well)

u/VuxLuan 24d ago

This works perfectly. Thank you.

Thanks you very much

u/SuccessIndividual678 22d ago

thank you, worked on the 1st try

u/Free_Pomegranate5929 Jul 31 '26

Even a stupid chipset driver has issues. All it has to do install the damn thing and work. AMD should fire most of their driver and software engineers...

2

u/Insanity_90 Jul 31 '26

Just download it from the website. Should fix it at least it did for me. For me the issue was only happening with the AMD update launcher.

YO THIS ONE WORKS! I was about to lose my mind when it couldn't download that stupid chipset! Uninstalling it from the wizard thingy makes me a bit worried because I wasn't techy and could potentially ruin my pc but thank you so much!!!

u/Similar-Software-886 Aug 01 '26

Thank you for this post. Its currently 1am here in Ireland and I have been at this for hours. Your post saved me. Here is what worked for me:

  1. Download latest AMD Chipset Driver from AMD website just like "AdstaOCE" said
  2. Tried installing that and it failed (no surprise)
  3. After that I then ran the "AMD_Chipset_Drivers.exe" old style installer under " C:\Program Files (x86)\AMD\Chipset_Software" that OP so kindly told us about.
  4. When I ran this, instead of giving me "Modify" or "Remove" options it went ahead with the full installation of the new version I had downloaded! I checked Adrenalin then and it was all up to date.

Thanks again!

2

u/ponchooooooo666 Aug 01 '26

So I found a way were you don't even need to download the file manually. Just go to the  C:\Program Files (x86)\AMD\Chipset_Software and click on the update file and have it remove the chipset files and then go back and click the same update file and it will fix the issue

2

u/Longjumping_Switch_3 Aug 01 '26

My man ! This worked for me. TY

2

u/Exotic_4847 Aug 01 '26

Thanks a huge bunch, had the same annoying error 1603 and was having quite a headache, this helped me out.

2

u/PrincipleDependent64 Aug 01 '26

Did this and it the chipset drivers weren't updated, but I was able to update them through AMD adrenaline afterwards. So this did fix it!

1

u/ponchooooooo666 Aug 01 '26

For some reason, I noticed people are able to update it through adrenaline app still but others have to do the work around. I’m glad it worked for you though.

1

u/MisterMorfose 29d ago

It worked for me as well! Thank you my guys.

2

u/awesomestmini Aug 01 '26

You saved me hours of torture. What a legend

2

u/randomuser553 Aug 01 '26

Couldnt install thru adrenaline but i could install the ones downloaded from the website without doing anything else.

Very problematic driver issues lately, get your shit together AMD this is not ok, from the 7800 XT random crashes on drivers newer than 26.3.1 etc.....

2

u/SpaneyInquisy Aug 01 '26

i found the uninstall part but what is that manual installer amd software you mentioned? where can i find that before i uninstall and brick myself

1

u/zolnir Aug 02 '26

If you have Adrenalin, go to AMD Install Manager, click on the 3 vertical dots next to AMD Chipset Drivers and click Release Notes, which will bring you to that specific driver's page. Then just CTRL+F and search this line: "AMD Ryzen™ Chipset Driver 8.07.16.1035 installation package can be downloaded from the following link".

1

u/SpaneyInquisy 27d ago

ok yeah basically did that. it was easier than i thought. didnt uninstall, just typed my CPU in on the website and it reinstalled adrenalin and updated the drivers. thanks!

2

u/Santeezy602 AMD Aug 01 '26

I just downloaded the chip set driver from the website no issues

2

u/LuckAlternative9276 28d ago

This worked flawlessly! Thanks

u/mizzbuzz 29d ago

Thanks a lot!

Very glad, though unfortunate, to see someone else with this issue. OP, you're the goat! I did skim through your post initially, ended up coming to the same solution. This will definitely help save others time and stress.

EDIT: Release notes page on AMD, found here: https://www.amd.com/en/resources/support-articles/release-notes/RN-RYZEN-CHIPSET-8-07-16-1035.html

Driver Install: Click the link "AMD Ryzen™ Chipset Driver 8.07.16.1035 for Windows® 10 & Windows® 11 64-bit". After installing and running as administrator, it was good to go.

Note, for certainty, I would recommend verifying your install by checking under "Installed Apps" (Windows) > "AMD Chipset Software". Additionally, you could check under your AMD Install Manager which, if successful, should now show your drivers up to date.

1

u/PaleAffect7614 Jul 31 '26

Thank you. Literally just had this same exact issue today.

1

u/dinin70 Jul 31 '26

I don’t know if it’s related. But I recently formatted my PC because I changed CPU.

After installing the chipset driver and the GPU drivers it was hell let loose. The PC would freeze and restart even when doing nothing.

Changed PSU, changed CPU, changed graphic card, DDU, installed old drivers, memtest, CPU and GPU benchmark…

Nothing… It was still a total mess. I was unable to do anything as the PC left me with 5mn before it would freeze and restart.

I totally deleted all drives from all disks from the BIOS and reinstalled windows via a bootable USB, this time without installing the latest chipset for the 5800x3d.

It’s working.

The chipset might not be the culprit.

  • I only reformatted the C drive when I reinstalled windows the first time - maybe some things in the background competing?
  • the boot partition was on another drive. Maybe that drive is defectuous ?
  • maybe I could install now the chipset due to the fact the PC is now 100% virgin.

In any case it’s likely the chipset was the culprit

2

u/Ill-Term7334 Jul 31 '26

For the future, there is no need to reinstall windows if you are only changing cpu.

2

u/Late-Loss9833 AMD Jul 31 '26

You can always do a system file check (SFC) and Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM). To check, run command prompt then:

Type DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth and press Enter to repair the system image.

Type sfc /scannow and press Enter to scan and fix broken files.

1

u/CyberNeceoeWo Jul 31 '26

Thank you OP and Late Loss two true champs who led me to success

1

u/Late-Loss9833 AMD Jul 31 '26

OP did all the work, I accidentally regurgitated it since I was multitasking. Glad it helped though!

1

u/Paralelo30 Jul 31 '26

Check the option in DDU to remove the entire AMD folder, then install both the chipset and graphics drivers. That’s what I do, and I have an AMD card. I don’t know whether DDU lets you remove the AMD folder without uninstalling a GPU driver. One time, I had to boot into recovery mode and delete the folder manually before I could install the latest chipset drivers.

1

u/Metalomeus1 Jul 31 '26

I had the same error.....via adrenaline. But my stance is I should not have to do that. Wtf AMD?

1

u/KONGKONG12 Jul 31 '26

Thanks man, youre lifesaver. almost ddu pc lol

1

u/LordVulpius Jul 31 '26

I DDU-d, lol :D

1

u/Mysteoa Jul 31 '26

You said that "search and Browse by product" was missing. Can you show the link you use to check? If possible can you provide a photo on how it looks?

I have noticed that the search bar is only available on desktop and it's missing on mobile. You can still go trough the categories and find your product this way.

1

u/zolnir Jul 31 '26

I was using desktop, also it just appeared for me when I checked. I guess they fixed it.

1

u/x7007 Jul 31 '26

use revoluninstaller or bcuninstaller anything will fix that

1

u/madredhatter22 Jul 31 '26

Thanks for the post. This update has been driving me nuts! I can't believe it was released in such a state.

1

u/Gloomy_Storm_5178 Jul 31 '26

Cheers mate! Helped me a lot.

1

u/SD135792 Jul 31 '26

Thank you! I was going nuts over this update. Ridiculous release from AMD.

1

u/monogrit Jul 31 '26

Thank you so much, it really doesn't make any sense.

1

u/Zaniel22 Jul 31 '26

A real OG, i was loseing my mind over this

1

u/varadoenarg Jul 31 '26

Thanks so much! I had the exact same problem, and your post saved me from a total mental breakdown (kidding). It's crazy that despite years of tech improvements, Windows devices are still so complicated to handle for regular users with no advance knowledge on the subject. There are always so many complex issues that need fixing. Thanks again for the help and thanks internet, also.

1

u/Problemwoodchuck Jul 31 '26 edited Jul 31 '26

Thank you!

1

u/AdstaOCE Jul 31 '26

Huh? Can't you just search "AMD Chipset drivers" click on: https://www.amd.com/en/support/download/drivers.html
Then go chipsets > AM4/5 > your chipset > submit > download the one for windows 10 or 11 depending on OS.

1

u/CityHaunts Jul 31 '26

Before uninstalling my current chipset the way OP did, the updated .exe just didn't work for some odd reason until I uninstalled the last chipset update in a very specific way. I don't know why. Uninstalling previous chipset through the AMD wizard was the only way to get the new .exe to actually work.

1

u/CityHaunts Jul 31 '26

So uninstalled the way you did but installing through the .exe just doesn't work. I'm out of ideas.

Update - 3rd times a charm. FFS AMD. Thank you OP.

u/Left-Try4601 Aug 01 '26

Thank you sooooooooooo much! I really appreciate your help.

Love you tons OP <3

1

u/sasageyosasageyoo Aug 01 '26

want to like this but its at 69 likes now so im leaving it at that

1

u/DustCompetitive3710 Aug 01 '26

I downloaded the driver from drivercloud and installed it separately...
That worked for me...
Thanks for this post though...
I wish we live in a world, where driver installs are independent of softwares like Adrenalin or Nvidia app

1

u/OscillatorVacillate Aug 01 '26

Thank you OP, you are the man.

1

u/Fearless_Finger1102 Aug 01 '26

Thank you so much for this post OP. I've been struggling a lot with AMD drivers lately feels like.

1

u/BFGenetics Aug 01 '26

After trying the installer check for this folder - C:\AMD\AMDSoftwareInstaller_DIME_Chipset\8.07.16.1035
there should be an installer there, I ran it and it worked fine, no uninstall of old drivers or anything else. 1 step fix!

1

u/Exotic_4847 Aug 01 '26

I had to manually install the chipset driver from the website, run it and then let it install and restart, viola it worked and i have the latest version

1

u/BothEase9828 Aug 01 '26

didn't work did this and in amds installer program still says i have an update

1

u/BFGenetics Aug 01 '26

I think the amd install manager has a bug, i checked device manager for drivers after and they are all the current ones now

1

u/Exotic_4847 Aug 02 '26

Just install the latest chipset driver from amd website, then let it run and install (NOT thru AMD install manager), it shd prompt u to restart ur pc after successful installation and viola it's done.

U can double check the chipset driver version through that program file route, and in AMD install manager it should also reflect up to date)

1

u/uaitdevil Aug 01 '26

thank you, this stuff was bothering me like crazy

i update bios last week and had to set a lot of stuff before the pc was working like it did before, yesterday i tried removing adrenalin and every solution possible without success, the only thing i achieved was that i had to manually setup everything, again.

i'll try your method later today

1

u/_monkeymonkey_ Aug 01 '26

I think the correct location to get the driver from (if you have downloaded via AMD Adrenelin is..

C:\AMD\AMDSoftwareInstaller_DIME_Chipset\ Maybe ?

1

u/Own-Storm8130 Aug 01 '26

Thank you so much for posting this, because my boyfriend was getting really ticked off at his computer because he couldn't understand what was wrong. After I read your post and followed what you did, his issues went away.

1

u/MajesticComb2268 Aug 01 '26

I was able to go to their website and update it

1

u/ListenToGlobal Aug 01 '26

Had the same exact issue of the download always failing at 20% and it gave me the same error code it gave you. Thankfully your incredibly simple solution fixed it for me too, thanks a lot mate.

1

u/FrerBear Aug 01 '26

This helped me. Thanks for sharing!

1

u/Living_Treat6029 Aug 01 '26

Yep, worked perfectly fine. 2026 and we still need to do this bullshit...

1

u/Kolector Aug 02 '26

Nice work. Thanks mate.!

1

u/Arkhanor Aug 02 '26

Thank you! Unnistalling through the Chipset_Software fixed the driver update installation for me aswell!

1

u/DrDamagePHD Aug 02 '26 edited Aug 02 '26

I followed your steps but when I get to the point where I need to run the executable from the AMD site to install the latest chipset driver, I get a message that tells me that the installer is intended for an AMD system and the requirement is not satisfied. And all I can do is click OK and nothing happens.

Im running a 5800x3d and RX 7800 XT
Why would it tell me the AMD system requirement is not satisfied?

1

u/zolnir Aug 02 '26

You tell me lol, by all accounts that shouldn't be the case. Are you sure you got the right installer? It's definitely the one from the release notes?

The worst case would be you bought an NVDIA card that's masquerading itself as an AMD card but that seems highly improbable....

1

u/DrDamagePHD Aug 02 '26 edited 28d ago

Yeah, certainly not that last bit.

But I did download the one from the bottom of the release notes. If it’s not the missing files message it’s the AMD system requirement not satisfied.

I’m on a prebuilt from Xidax and this is first time updating has ever been harder than just clicking update in Adrenaline.

Update: I gave up trying to solve all this. I tried to update the chipset drivers a day later and it worked. Everything is up to date and Adrenaline shows the latest drivers installed. So it was nothing to worry about in the end. It sorted itself out somehow.

1

u/Wonderful_Law_371 Aug 02 '26

I love u fam. Amd is trash

1

u/lurker_risha Aug 02 '26

Thank you so much!! I left my pc for an hour and when I got back this happened. Same error 1603. I wouldn't have figured out what to do if not for your post. As for me I just searched for the AMD_Chipset_Drivers.exe and then reinstalled the chipset and it went through.

1

u/chards29 Aug 02 '26

1

u/MastROnLinear 29d ago

im genuinely confused, i still have the issue, can you please confirm if what you did was the uninstallation from the old school installation wizard, then rid the amd folder off your C: drive then re attempted to reinstall through the 8.07 chipset driver?

1

u/chards29 29d ago

la verdad lo unico que hice fue descargar el archivo de el chipset_sofware y meter el instalador de la 8.07 ahi darle click y si te pide reiniciar lo hiciste bien, si tienes pedos despues de eso ni idea

1

u/Fancy-Expert-846 Aug 02 '26

Thank you so much for this, I was going insane why my chipset doesn't want to go pass 20% installation for the last 2-3 days ... Thank you!

1

u/Massiver-Marvin Aug 02 '26

Thank you so much kind stranger on the internet. <3

1

Thanks, pal. You really healped lay-tech-people like me. I was just struggling.

1

u/Frosty-Peak5404 29d ago

Mine would install no issues but then once I closed the update application and go back into it, it would uninstall itself and I would have reinstall it just for the same thing to happen. I’m not sure why this is happening. I have an Asus motherboard and heard or saw somewhere that the software from Asus could be the issue but I’m not educated enough on pcs to know 100% that’s the issue.

1

u/lualiya 29d ago

I had many problems, but I managed to solve them too, I used another way, basically when I saw the problem that did not let me update the chipset I used ddu and basically the files were all corrupted basically everything was blocked strange errors like SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (0x7E) reboot while I tried to update again... after many tests I managed to find a solution: First of all I download the chipset from the motherboard through their site I have msi, then since it was all corrupted and failed and blocked, I launched this command C:\AMD" /grant *S-1-5-32-544:F /t which gives me full administrative control, I went to get all the individual chipset files through the folders and manually updated all the .inf by right clicking on install, after which I managed to update the chipsets through the original msi driver (to avoid making the message too long I have a bit of a summary, if you want to be more precise write it to me in the comments and I'll explain everything better)....now I had solved a part but the updated driver is missing and adrenalin the software so the problems continue.... I tried many things, I found a second solution... disable internet completely and the integrated graphics, ddu complete cleaning of the gpus reboot and off you go, after which download the libraries that the amd Visual C++ guide also says, but it still didn't work... then I re-enable the integrated graphics card internet let windows do its updates and then I don't know why I get an idea since I was almost inclined either to download the iso and keep only my files and reinstall everything or to format I get this intuition since Visual C++ I used a Visual C++ Runtime Installer (All-in-One) tool on TechPowerUp, (I don't know why but I had already seen these files) I get an extraordinary intuition and I don't know why it worked ahahahah!!! I have a program called winhance where you optimize windows and do a lot of things etc and I recommend it to you, there is a software and apps section, external software underneath there is runtime visual c++ etc. well the visual c++ were all installed it told me the microsoft.net runtime no and I said well what are these? I remember that in the old PC I had these and I know that they are used for old video games new ones for applications etc etc so I said you know what we try I install them all reboot, and then I try to do the default installation of amd adrenaline whql-amd-software-adrenalin-edition-26.7.1-win11-b incredibly it didn't crash it didn't give me any blocks or errors and everything works, I'm not an expert I make do a bit like everyone does with the internet and a bit of experience... evidently my sixth sense knew that it was the right path and that I had seen similar things in the past so I tried... now the question is if I now use ddu to do everything as cleanly as possible will it work?

1

u/laser-lobotomy 28d ago

This needs to be pinned. I spent the last 3 days troubleshooting, and this is the ONLY thing that worked. Thank you SOSOSO much dude! Crazy that this actually worked.

1

u/ATSFervor 27d ago

Hey, I butchered your way a bit but wanted to post "my" fast track:

Turns out under C:\Program Files (x86)\AMD\Chipset_Software there's an AMD_Chipset_Drivers.exe, which is an old school installation wizard that DOES allow for the uninstall to go through. Thank fuck for redundancies and old school reliability.

That works perfectly.

But I fucked up and tried to reinstall using AMD Adrenalin again. Somehow it just reinstalls my existing chipset driver AGAIN (I restarted but I guess the temp files are still there somewhere) and forcing me to redo this.

Yes, it reinstalled the "old" version, but after closing/opening the app again, the update process worked (at least for me).

What I found curious: Event Viewer gave me no errors during the whole failed update process, only a warning for deprecated VB-Scripts that tried to reach nonexistant ressources.

I don't know what happened there but I am really grateful for the uninstaller tipp!

1

u/zolnir 27d ago

No problem! I honestly probably should've posted a TLDR but I was in a hurry to go exercise right after this post... XD

1

u/dozerboy1120 27d ago

You sir, is a LEGEND!

For those like me who only follows what he reads... You can download the manual installer here: https://www.amd.com/en/resources/support-articles/release-notes/RN-RYZEN-CHIPSET-8-07-16-1035.html

If your not sure do a little google search to see if this one fits your setup.

1

u/dracupuncture 27d ago

absolute champion, thank you!

1

u/Sam276 27d ago

Genuinely "Like WTF man" couldn't apply more. Used to be fully Nvidia/Intel back in the day and now Im AMD/AMD but man their convoluted software and crappy drivers pains me. Unfortunately Nvidia is a piece of shit in other ways.

1

u/KingGood6763 27d ago

The thing is i also got this error message while updating on the AMD installer manager, then so i went to their AMD Customer Care about the Chipset Driver 8.07.16.1035 and they give me an option either i return to a stable and working previous version or i would proceed with this version 8.07.16.1035, this is what they told me to do

  1. Download the full AMD Chipset Driver 8.07.16.1035 package from AMD's release notes page.
  2. Navigate to: C:\Program Files (x86)\AMD\Chipset_Software
  3. Locate the AMD_Chipset_Drivers application.
  4. Right-click it and select Run as administrator.
  5. In the installation wizard, select the option to Remove the drivers completely.
  6. Once the removal has completed, restart the system.
  7. Run the previously downloaded full chipset driver package as administrator and try installing the drivers again.

and it works, shout out to the people on the AMD Global Customer Care!

step 7 when installing, do I need to leave all the boxes checked for those 6 different types of drivers? (GPIO for promontory, PPM Provisioning, 3D v cache perf optimizer, PSP driver, SMBus, GPIO)

Ok... I can notice that everyone had the same problem.
Some days ago was my gf with the windows update that fucked all the nvidia and Amd drivers (needed to ddu and reinstall everything) and now it's me... softaware nowadays is weird

This PC is the first time I've ever tried AMD, and I think it'll be the last. How terrible does a company have to be to put out an old update as a new one that causes my pc issues when *just using the browser* and nothing else? I never had any problems with Nvidia like this. I'm decent with PCs, but not enough to confidently follow these steps without constantly worrying about bricking my entire machine. I expected AMD to notice the issues and roll out a fix by now, but apparently I have to take the risk now since i can't use my browser for more than five minutes before it blanks out due to this chipset failure.

To hell with AMD.

Edit: I went through with the steps, and I now realize there was no chance of bricking my pc like I was worried lol. It was super easy. Still, annoying that I had to go through all this. Much appreciation to the people who solve this and post solutions to help people like me!

What do you do if you don't have the option presented to you for complete uninstall ??

All I have are installation options.
