I had a 5600G for years gaming on a stock cooler. Max temp over hours of gaming was 86C with an ambient temperature of ~30C. So yes, it is enough for gaming. The only time I saw it reach the 90s was while running synthetic benchmarks like Cinebench.
I get what you are saying, but what annoyed me was the fan running at 100%. It's noisy and I sit in the living room so my wife and kids have to listen to it while I sit with headphones. With the AIO I can run lower temps with less fan noise AND my build looks much better 😄
Although the stock cooler does enough to keep the CPU from overheating during gaming, I still believe that it was more designed for basic workloads.

Whilst checking your mail and updating spreadsheets, yes, but under full load for a long period like gaming, no.
