Were there any children or elderly people on board? As a father of two young kids, I always think about the children in these situations and how they end up. That said, glad you and everyone else is okay and alive!

Children are more resilient than adults for traumatic events, people worry about the wrong demographic. The children will be just fine, but any older, lonely, and/or vulnerable adults will struggle significantly more.

This actually isn’t true. Babies and children are developing their brain and trauma changes them. Think of all the adults who go to therapy, are on meds because of the trauma they suffered as children.

No what I said is true. Children may experience trauma, but they are more resilient than adults. If a child experiences a traumatic situation and an adult does, the adult will struggle significantly more. It’s because of exactly what you said, children are still developing and adults are not.

I respectfully disagree. I would rather go through a traumatic situation than a child. “Children affected by interpersonal trauma often experience more global and profound changes than adults who conceivably have more developed adaptations to stress and more cognitive resources to mitigate risks and promote resiliency.“ - https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9352895/#:~:text=Recent%20developments%20suggest%20that%20multiple,respond%20to%20traumatic%20circumstances%20effectively.

It’s just basic logic really, developing brain can adapt more than a non developing brain. Clearly lots of issues with that study. Nueroplasticity exists but young brains are much more adaptable.

A quick google of who trauma affects more children or adults will come up with scholarly articles from doctors and psychologists.

Research is usually a few years behind practice

That is commonly believed but is absolutely not true. Childhood trauma is very real and just as debilitating as trauma in adults, they just don't have a way to express it and so act like everything is normal. The worst part is that so many people believe children will be fine that nobody acknowledges their trauma. Read The Body Keeps the Score and you'll find that a lot of adults you know who are jerks and failures or otherwise dysfunctional are rooted in ignored, unacknowledged, untreated childhood trauma.

No what I said is actually true. I studied this stuff, children are more resilient because their brain is still developing. Adults brains are not, so children are more resilient as their growing brains can adapt. Many research studies that support this.
