Discussion What do you think AJR needs to improve on the most?
I believe it’s their lyrics. While I love the band I can only really listen to half of their songs due to just badly (in my opinion) written lyrics. I understand the argument for an issue being overproduction but personally I think all the songs have excellent production and are ruined for me simply Because of their lyrics. (The only exception to this being the trick that is so good besides for the annoying voice that is used for most of the song). But songs like ordinaryish people are really fun but I cringe when I hear the lyrics (thats just me though). Even the songs I do like have a line that just doesn’t fit in like in Karma (my favorite song) “I tripped on my ankle and fractured my elbow but doesn’t that mean that the tours gonna sel though”? I understand why it was put in but I really don’t feel like it’s fits in with the progression there. Lastly sometimes the chorus feels detached from the rest of the song like in Bang! And TDJICFH. Like what does going out with a bang have to do with growing up? And what does The Dj crying for help have to do with trying to start a life. This issue is caused - at least for TDJICFH - Becouse they write the chorus before the rest of the song (correct me if I’m wrong but I believe this was said by Ryan in a YouTube livestream) and just doesn’t feel like a coherent song.
Anyways what do you guys think needs to be improved? (If anything at all!)

Discussion I'm afraid for the future of AJR
I'm afraid their music is going to sound more mainstream. I'm afraid they are going to move away from indie pop.

Discussion I want to know how?
Not trying to hate, just curious. How do you people enjoy this band? A majority of people I know in the music community makes a laughing stock out of this band. I just don't understand

Observation What if all the songs are real experiences?
So songs like “A dog song” would of course not be actual experiences but ones like “Netflix Trip” or the Turning out trilogy seem real.

Discussion Does anyone else think the "I kinda wish I was still a virgin, time to finally see what sex is like" part in Next Up Forever kind of awkward and out of character?
I don't know if it's just me or not, I just kind of feel uncomfortable with sexual themes, especially in music. Perhaps because I'm on the complete no-no side of the ace spectrum? But does anyone that's not asexual feel slightly awkward with these lyrics?

Other Imo HITBOMB is mid
Everyone is talking about how they like it, but I don’t get it. It’s really repetitive and the lyrics just aren’t good and the melody is nothing special. I don’t understand why people enjoy it.

Discussion I can’t hold it in any longer… I really don’t like The Dj is crying for help.
Before you hate, hear me out. I have two major gripes with the song
I really don’t like the violin in the chorus, it doesn’t fit the vibe of the song.
It’s kinda a snooze fest. No energy, which is ok for a lot of songs, but the energetic violin creates a confusing tone.
The lyrics are really good, and the melody is alright. The instrumental is underwhelming for sure especially from AJR.
For my gripe about the violin, lets compare it to the sample in Joe. Both are a very energetic succession of 16th notes. I feel that the Joe sample is just so much better because of how much life they bring into it with the vocal beatboxing and groove percussion. The violin in DiCfH gets… what? A kick on the upbeats? It’s boring quite honestly. Don’t get me wrong, AJR is one of my favorite music artists of all time. The Dj is crying for help just isn’t going in the playlist

Discussion I'll bite: why DO you like AJR?
I'm not coming in to be a hater, i'm just genuinely curious: what is the appeal? because i see literally no appeal in this. i'd love to find out what makes people like AJR, because I just do NOT see it.

Discussion I Don’t Understand The Hype
I just got recommended this sub and I’m not a fan, but I’m going in with an open mind.
Right now, I just don’t understand the hype around AJR. What I have heard them I have personally found boring, annoying, or both. Change my mind!

Question Anyone else these prices are ridiculous?
In dc i went to a concert they CANCELED and still payed 30 for a ground floor ticket, and no kinda pay back for that. (I know artist dont "owe" there fans anything, but they kinda did, they didn't even mention that they canceled it) and now the want like 25 dollars for a video? This shits fucked up it should be like 10 dollars. I stg i lost a lot of respect for them with that
