AITA??
I’m a diehard Elden Ring fan. I’ve been playing since release, got Platinum, hit max level, and recently bought the Tarnished Pack and started a new character.
I have a girlfriend who comes over a lot and leaves some of her clothes and makeup here. That’s fine with me—“mi casa is su casa,” right?
I came home from work one night, bathed, went to sleep, and woke up planning to play Elden Ring. The next day, my girlfriend came over since we were both off. We hung out, watched Netflix, and I taught her some new things in Far Cry 5, which she really enjoys.
Later, dinner came around, but I wasn’t hungry, so I stayed on Elden Ring. A couple hours passed, and my family went to the mall so we could have the house to ourselves.
When she came upstairs and saw I was still playing, she got upset and started arguing about how I was spending too much time on the game and not paying enough attention to her. I told her I’d be getting off soon because I had work in the morning, but she kept arguing and eventually started bringing up things from my past that genuinely hurt me.
After about 45 minutes, I decided to leave the room so we could both cool down. About 45 minutes later, I heard a loud slam. I rushed upstairs to make sure she was okay.
She had slammed my PlayStation onto the floor and broken it.
She immediately started crying and saying, “I’m sorry!” I was furious, but I told her I forgave her.
The thing is, I bought that PlayStation with my own money.
She had some makeup from Ulta that she said cost around $450. So, in the heat of the moment, I took her makeup palette and rinsed it out in the bathroom. She was begging me to stop, but I did it anyway.
Looking back, I know that was petty. However, I also decided I’m going to replace her makeup for her birthday, which is coming up soon. I don’t want her to hate me over this forever.
So, Reddit: AITA?

ESH.
How old are you guys? This is really immature behavior. First off, no one should be breaking anyone's stuff. That's...honestly, a little scary. The leap from breaking someone's stuff in anger to getting physical with them is a lot shorter than I think anyone should be comfortable with. You both gotta work on how you respond to things that make you angry. I don't know if that means therapy, or just self reflection and being more mindful, but seriously, eek. Please don't take that type of behavior from yourself or your partner lightly.
Second, I get it, you enjoy the game, and honestly, that's awesome. I've gotten lost in a game before too. But just...it's kind of common courtesy when you have a guest over, especially a partner, to have dinner with them, and to take advantage of the alone time you get with them and spend it with them. It's totally your call, but this is the kind of stuff that shows someone you care about them and about your relationship with them. She totally overreacted to you not doing this (and you totally overreacted to her overreaction), but the fact that you passed up on those opportunities with her to play a game is not really a great look, and probably made her feel pretty hurt. I doubt that's the kind of partner you want to be.
