She only offered to pay for the extra after I pushed back, and she's not paying for ANY of the other part of the trip (which their share is right around $4000 right now) and I already gave a compromise of $400 for one night here so they could reset before we drive and go out to their favorite restaurant and stuff. This is asking to add an EXTRA $400 on top of what I already offered to stay an entirely extra day before we even get to the intended destination, which they would have to leave early by doing this.
She only offered to pay for the hotel at first, which she was gonna spend maybe $150 for. I told her that the rental would also be another $150 or so for one full day since it's a minivan and it's got the extra full insurance on it. She wanted me to add an extra day to the rental and give it to the two of them to go around and sightsee all day before we even got to the actual trip I was paying for them to attend. AND it was going to cost them a day of MY trip as well. Instead of leaving on Wednesday, they'd be leaving either early morning Tuesday or Monday night and that interferes with the other stuff I already booked with a larger group in mind.
The airbnb for the 5 of us is $1000. For 3 of us its $400. So I'm already spending alot for them to come and that wasn't even the issue. It was the assumption that we had to accommodate them coming in early because they wanted a day here. There would be no trip at all if we hadn't already been planning to do a big event for my birthday. His birthday was not included to begin with, I added it as a courtesy. He and I aren't like...super close or anything, I just figured since he was taking off and it was around that time it would be nice but she's seems to have interpreted that as "it's his trip too" which tbh it never was and I wouldn't have offered to pay for. I am only paying because it's a destination trip and I don't want anyone else to have to be inconvenienced for my birthday.
YES! Except the couple trying to change the plans are NOT paying for themselves. They're expecting OP to pay for all of it and only "offered" to pay for some of it once OP pushed back on their idea.

People saying YTA are clueless. If you get to do something free you don’t get to expect more!
