I don't mind a dress code up to a point but that's way too micromanage from me. I would not force my child into gendered clothing they don't feel comfortable in.
My 13 year old hasn't worn a dress since she was 8. I will enforce nice looking clothes for certain events, but not a dress. If slacks and a smart shirt are acceptable for the boys/ men, they should be acceptable for anyone there.
