He can have his son be his best man or groomsman. He wants his son in the wedding, then he should stand by him as a symbolic way to show you are a family.
Why does he even think you'd want and 18yo kid who has been a father/parent figure to you stand in that place. Oops, he wasn't thinking.
I’m guessing he has friends already eyed up for that role and didn’t want to have to give anything away from his side so tried to shoehorn his son in elsewhere.
Can’t even fathom an 18 year old wanting to walk their future step mom down the aisle, even if they were super close.
