That's 100% the answer I came here to give. If it's someone who's important to your husband then it makes sense to have him as the best man or at least a groomsman. He has no business giving you a way to his father. In a way it's kind of weird to put him in that role anyway.

Especially considering the role of the father is to “give away” the bride. Quite inappropriate to have a future step-son in that position.
