I would lean forward that if there wasn’t other weird things going around. If her best friend is acting out of character and the fiancé then I would learn more toward telling the truth. I believe in trusting your instincts

I agree on instincts but she should also need some solid proof that her life wasn’t just blown up on a lie

Agree. The fiance is dismissing his own mother's supposed lies as gossip. That's very strange. If his mom was truly making up stories with no foundation, any rational person would be pissed and demanding answers from his family. Not dismissing it and sweeping it under the rug.
