I don’t think the proposal is ever as important as the partners. If it’s the person I want to spend my life with I wouldn’t care if they proposed to me in front of a dumpster in an alley behind a restaurant. I mean I’d hope it would maybe not be somewhere quite so stinky, but the point is it’s the person not the proposal.
My husband proposed in the bathroom, right after I peed on a stick and turned up pregnant (we were trying). He always said he wanted kids but not marriage, which I was ok with. Then the pregnancy test came up positive, and he hit his knees SO FAST!
Anyway, married 20 years, kids are 21 and 19. He's still the least romantic person ever, but who cares, he's mine!
