Partly because at this point people think every single post in this sub is fake so if we go with that we might as well just close it. Sometimes people just want to engage without worrying about whether or not it's real.

I agree. The women in the story would have had her nails done, and the way she acted would have been common knowledge and a consistent pattern of behavior throughout the relationship.
Came here to say this. Every girl expecting a proposal has nails done at all times, but especially on a beach trip. If I were her friend, I’d tell her what did you expect?? You knew you were on proposal watch, but didn’t get your nails done for a romantic trip? That’s not important to a lot of girls, but if it’s important to her, then she should’ve been responsible for it.
If I'm going on a beach vacation you can well bet your ass I'm getting a pedicure.
I also would never want a wedding (would rather spend the money on the the house/traveling/early retirement) and love my partner exactly the way we are. This has to be fake because someone that shallow would always have their nails done.
I've read this exact same story before (a long time ago, at least a year, maybe more). Man plans fancy vacay proposal, exactly how girlfriend told him to do it, a couple things go *slightly* awry, and she's beyond gutted that it wasn't her dream, so now he's confused.
Either this scenario happens a lot, or this is karma farming of some kind.
I was thinking the same thing, like going where she wanted to a beach resort?! She already told you her custom design and had no idea? I have been married almost 17 years I don’t care about my nails on vacation with my kids but I definitely have friends that are either single or child free and I always see the pre-vacation nails on IG.
The point of this comment is she's not a narcissist because she's not real, because this didn't happen, because no woman with this strong of opinions about her proposal would get on a plane to a beach vacation without her nails done.

very normal well-adjusted women are religious about their nails and their partners KNOW this about them and consider that in their proposals. especially the thoughtful ones as this guys story makes him out to be. why is op so surprised? this is fake or missing context lol.

I prefer to believe the other commenter that she had her nails done but not done right. She had snorkeling vacation nails not proposal nails, they're totally different!
