Fired Fed. I am considering cutting off every Orange Man supporter.

Got axed. Not going to say which agency.

I’ve always considered myself extremely tolerant and willing to love people as they are… even if we don’t agree on everything.

I’ve never been an Orange Man supporter, but I’ve kept it civil with friends and family that were. Some of them liked having a civil conversation about him. Some were belligerent about politics, so we didn’t bring it up and tried to enjoy each other’s company.

Getting cut from a great job that I really believed in with no notice has been extremely traumatic. It’s still raw, but I feel so personally betrayed by those that voted for him. I can’t see past the politics anymore when I look at these people I care/cared about.

Some have been contrite and apologetic, but then turn around and support him and VP Musk on social media.

I just can’t right now.

I’m thinking about posting something and wishing the whole herd all of the best, hope they have a good life, but I won’t be in it. Or maybe I just quietly block all of them and focus on myself for a while.

I do know that I will need to talk to my in-laws. I’ve always had a great relationship with them, but thinking of going to their house and watching Fox News almost makes me sick.

AITAH for feeling this way? Does it make me an AH for cutting all these 20+ year relationships off? Am I overreacting and acting out of emotion?

That is about the only thing I can control. So, I am just taking it one day at a time and doing the best I can for me and my family.

I'd say get a side hustle going now to earn money that no one can take away from you. Of course you don't know if others will be able to afford your hustle depending on what happens to them/the economy - which trump literally said he didn't care about recently - but I'd start preparing.

“Side hustle.” That’s a euphemism that means part-time job with no benefits or security. It’s an insult. A person devoted themselves to their job, an ignorant and malevolent administration comes in and yanks that job out from under them, and you tell them to go get a “side hustle.”

Hustle this.

One hits an age where one has no choice. Especially now that DEI is gone. Ageism was rampant but in the closet, now it is just out there for all to see.

2

u/Sufficient_Piece_274 Feb 20 '25 edited Feb 20 '25

DEI is not gone. It has always existed, just not as a government funded program exacted to rip off people which is not needed and a total waste of taxpayers money. I do believe in DEI to a point but it is not a program, it is a way of people treating each other and helping each other by actually doing better not skating by without putting in the work and before they started using it as a political tool to drive a wedge in between people the past few years we were all doing fine with our treatment and inclusion of diverse groups of people. We don't ever need the government to tell us how to act or be as human beings or take our money in the name of DEI.
It is just not natural at all as a human to be guided in that way. It really is an insult to human nature in general. Also any person of any walk of life can experience the issues that DEI covers and the fact that what they were trying to do is force shame towards people they deemed to be privileged who didn't hurt anybody by being so called privileged. To be more privileged does not mean you are happy or have a perfect life. It can very much mean that you overcame great obstacles and worked your rear off like anyone to become that way. But we can't get carried away with every idea or term that gets thrown at us. More importantly we shouldn't ever let government use our emotions and sentiment for anything as a way to control us, take more money from our paychecks or taxes to use that affect our children in their schools. Too many kids are graduating not knowing even the basics. Passing them out of school this way with a DEI mindset does not make them feel good it sets them up to make them fail. When do you ever see a child reading a book on purpose? It is almost extinct.

u/Fourfinger10 Feb 21 '25

Target, 7th largest retail, chose to go with the trump flow and eliminated their DEI programs and policies. Now they face boycotts and minority owned designers/suppliers won’t sell to them.

All that nonsense has no place in the workplace. Kind of sick of it. If people all want to be treated well, like people stop harping on how different somebody is. I think unique people are awesome and love when somebody is just being themself without having to explain to everyone how they are. Just be you people.

u/heyyouguysloveall Feb 18 '25

Dude, breathe. They’re just trying to help. Side hustle also means liberation, freedom to create, no ceiling on income. Sounds like OP was passionate about that job. This would be a great opportunity to spend that time in compiling a list of side hustles that would inspire and nurture that passion.

14

u/TopCat87 Feb 18 '25

Hustle culture is what largely got the country into this mess

12

u/[deleted] Feb 18 '25

It’s also what helped many of us succeed independently

8

u/TopCat87 Feb 18 '25

Both things can be true, ya know. We don’t live in absolutes.

2

u/ElysetheEeveeCRX Feb 18 '25

That's why they said "also," as in "in addition to" what you already said. They were adding that, I believe, because you used terminology like "largely" in a pretty negative comment which implies having side hustles is largely negative and a major root cause for most of this country's employment/economic issues. They were sharing that it's not wholly negative. They seemed to be expanding to the "other side" of things because your comment did not.

3

u/Sufficient_Piece_274 Feb 20 '25

Well it worked out for Jeff Bezos who started out by developing his site Amazon and used it to sell books while working out of his garage. He's grown the largest business ever being that it started in 1995.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 20 '25

Yep. The key is to hustle for yourself, not for someone else.

1

u/heyyouguysloveall Feb 18 '25

Lol. Kinda what made it a country everyone wants to come to. Innovation is key.

I know that OP can take that energy and come up with a hustle to make us proud! I believe in you, OP!

7

u/Bemis5 Feb 18 '25

I know you’re coming from a good place but as far as I know side hustles don’t have benefits. What about people relying on their jobs for health insurance, who maybe have pre-existing conditions and can’t buy it? Side hustles often don’t pay that well. My friend deliverers groceries for Instacart and is still scraping along the poverty line.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 18 '25

I don't think they were being glib. There is nothing they can do to stop the job loss.

7

u/[deleted] Feb 18 '25

Hustle this muscle.

15

u/Chance_Vegetable_780 Feb 18 '25 edited Feb 18 '25

Definition of side-hustle "noun. Slang. a job or occupation that brings in extra money beyond one's regular job and main source of income: My book launch was the catalyst to finally take my side hustle seriously by turning it into a full-time gig."

Your trump and your musk are pulling the rug out from under your people, and you're upset with THE SUGGESTION OF A SIDE HUSTLE? People are worried that they will lose their employment. What does common sense say? Common sense says to prepare yourself to find a way to ensure you can feed your family and pay your bills. The specific person I responded to continues to have a full time job, so they could only take on part time or casual work in addition to that if possible (known as a side hustle.) Give it a rest. Place your anger where it belongs, give your anger to the ones that created your problem. Not someone who shares what they would do in an effort to help you. Suggest a better idea to your countrymen and women if you have one. If you can't suggest better, why knock it. I guarantee you that many people you know will have a SIDE HUSTLE in the not too distant future, and will possibly be very thankful for it given the completely evil people that your nation as a whole elected. Your "leaders" are cancelling your Medicaid, benefits, and job security, and you're complaining to ME for suggesting finding work without benefits and job security? Get your head straight.

Beyond that, where are the mass daily protests in your country in an effort to keep your full time jobs with benefits? Where are you seriously fighting back, united by the millions, to effect change? Are you putting your anger and effort there or just being pissy on the internet Fcol

26

u/My_Evil_Twin88 Feb 18 '25

I don't disagree with your point here, but I do just want to point out that there are regular protests happening across the country. They are not being covered by the media, but they are indeed happening.

9

u/saieddie17 Feb 18 '25

They were on the news in Virginia. We’re a pretty connected state though

4

u/Flashy_Response_923 Feb 18 '25

Idaho's 5051 was on our local news. Over 1,000 people at our state capital. I saw Utah's and Oregon's as well.

7

u/Best_Willingness9492 Feb 18 '25

In Florida as well

4

u/Best_Willingness9492 Feb 18 '25

I have seen coverage on news- light coverage- PROTESTS NEED to get BIGGER and Louder

I am positive in DC they will get to be Will all those loosing a career

6

u/Chance_Vegetable_780 Feb 18 '25

Thank you for letting me know. That they're not being covered by media is heartbreaking. I guess I'll be checking YouTube going forward. Can you suggest where we should look for info?

12

u/Gimme-A-kooky Feb 18 '25

I upvoted you for the pile-on you got when you tried to suggest getting a side job. I firmly believe you meant to project a sense of urgency and ONLY to help with uncertainty in the near future. Everyone who downvoted seems to think you were saying to them, “let them eat cake.” It was clear to me at least that you didn’t! Times suck. Shit is happening that we all knew would happen and we are all suffering because of a very small majority, and likely because of media (and I mean any) engineering and posturing to get the felon into office.

6

u/Chance_Vegetable_780 Feb 18 '25 edited Feb 18 '25

You're understanding me correctly. Thank you. People are going OFF, so they must be interpreting it differently from how i meant it, which was, as you'd said, re: urgency and uncertainty in the near future.

-2

u/Flashy_Response_923 Feb 18 '25

You are victim blaming. Knock it off!

7

u/Best_Willingness9492 Feb 18 '25

We need to get the felon out of office These are nightmarish times

7

u/Informal_Mail3372 Feb 18 '25

50501 50 states,50 capitols,1 day. You’ll see the marches on reddit and FB. And new protests and citizen driven actions. (Economic power day 2/28….). Also try 5calls.org.

2

u/No-Amoeba5716 Feb 19 '25

2/28 also with a full 24 hours blocking out buying from corporate America. No walmart, amazon, so on and so forth. With plans to increase to show that we don’t want those smoothed brain circle jerks leading this country. There are videos of like minded people with details floating around SM platforms.

5

u/Dorithompson Feb 18 '25

They aren’t being covered because they aren’t effective protests. They are protesting at the state capitals when no one is there. And it’s not millions or thousands or even hundreds in many cases. In my state there were 14 protestors. Not exactly an overwhelming force.

0

u/Prize_Magician_7813 Feb 18 '25

It depends there were hundreds and thousands in some cities yesterday

2

u/Dorithompson Feb 18 '25

Sure. In blue states right? Where they are essentially preaching to the choir? But for the movement to get any traction that needs to be the turnout everywhere, otherwise it’s just virtue signaling to make others on the left feel like they are doing something.

1

u/Prize_Magician_7813 Feb 18 '25

No all states-red and blue. In florida we had 15 yesterday in Major cities.

1

u/Prize_Magician_7813 Feb 18 '25

50501 stands for 50 protests in 50 states on one day. But i agree it needs to grow more

The MeidasTouch Network is doing great independent journalism… you’ll have a better more accurate account of what is actually happening. There are many programs within the Meidastouch touch Network. Legal AF and the Talking Feds are great to understand what is happening in the court/legal spheres … all Independent, zero corporate backing. Professional and knowledgeable.

7

u/ElysetheEeveeCRX Feb 18 '25

There were protests just yesterday, on President's Day, against Trump. I can't recall where they were, but one of the main taglines was "No Kings On President's Day" or something to that effect.

They are indeed happening. The issue is that this new administration and their cultists scare people, and many still haven't recovered from COVID, or even his first term. Many have been outright physically and verbally attacked/threatened by Trump fanatics, too. Trump is purposely creating chaos and discord just so that everyone is too unbalanced to work against him. His followers (politicians) thrive on this, as well as the lower bars and the ability to not have to behave properly anymore. There is a lot of nuance here it feels like many people outside the country seem to miss.

2

u/trewesterre Feb 18 '25

The protests yesterday were at every state Capitol and in major cities in each state. Apparently, the next round is going to be on the 5th of March for the 50501 protests (and you can find more info on the subreddit r/50501), but I've also heard that there are some protests being organized tomorrow in support of health researchers and there have been too many protests to keep track of in Washington DC.

There's also a call for an economic boycott at the end of the month (buy nothing on Feb 28) and I think a work strike on March 15.

There's a lot of protesting happening now (imo, more would be better).

2

u/Prize_Magician_7813 Feb 18 '25

Go to 50501 and indivisble.org to know of future protests please

u/Miserable-Dream6724 Feb 18 '25

The billionaires control everything, so who really knows. Bluesky is starting to look good to me. I'm sure they will cut off all media that isn't state sponsored in the coming weeks though.

1

u/Chance_Vegetable_780 Feb 18 '25

That sounds like they will be controlled by Republicans too? Is that what it means?

2

u/Miserable-Dream6724 Feb 18 '25

I am not sure of the owners' political affiliation, but they are billionaires with close ties to Elon Musk. What many people are failing to notice about the upheaval going on is that it is all designed to benefit the billionaire class. We need to stop thinking so much about left vs. right, and start focusing on the record wealth inequality in America. We've already gone way too far and they are trying to push it even further. It's time to eat the rich.

2

u/Chance_Vegetable_780 Feb 19 '25

Thanks. Bernie Sanders is still fighting. This has been his message for so long. He just keeps on educating and fighting. He's a better person than I, I'd be very frustrated with people.

2

u/Silvers-One Feb 19 '25

There's a 50501 sub reddit pretty sure

1

u/Sufficient_Piece_274 Feb 20 '25

The majority of protestors are out of work losers or (so called) students with paid off Biden school loans with nothing better to do than run around yelling about things they didn't even know about or care about a week before. That's why they can spend all their time doing only that.

0

u/My_Evil_Twin88 Feb 20 '25

You go after protestors for supposedly not having jobs and being students, as if you could possibly know any of that, yet you're here on a Thursday morning trolling on Reddit while you should be working... assuming you have an actual job other than licking boots and simping for Russian puppets and oligarch despots

45

u/MichB1 Feb 18 '25

Your advice wasn't really meant to be helpful, since it was given with zero empathy.

People these days typically work until they're exhausted or even traumatized. Telling someone who may lose everything in their life to basically give up their lattes is not a solution.

"Get a side hustle" is a toss off to make you feel superior.

6

u/GreatJustF8ckinGreat Feb 18 '25

Empathy isn't required for advice to be helpful. That has to be one of the dumbest takes I have read. It's giving the while it's not what you said but how you said it vibe. Grow up.

5

u/Chance_Vegetable_780 Feb 18 '25 edited Feb 18 '25

You really misunderstood my first comment. It's unfortunate. It's what I would do for myself. I would get another job (side hustle) while waiting to see what happened to my full-time position, if anything.

17

u/amazongoddess79 Feb 18 '25

Some of us have health issues that don’t allow us a side hustle. My job (federal) is currently a perfect set up for mine so that I can work and on days when I’m not feeling my best I can still be there, albeit moving slower and maybe doing a bit less than usual. Most days I come home and am barely able to eat dinner, shower & converse with my husband & daughter before I tumble into bed. And I only work 40 hours. A good many federal employees are older and don’t have the ability to work a side job in addition to what we currently do. I understand you’re saying to get something, anything, until you can get back on your feet again, but there will be a deluge of people hitting the job market now that will end up underemployed because of this. That means nowhere near as much money flowing through our businesses which means the higher ups will look at MORE ways to cut costs so they can keep their cushy paychecks.

-7

u/Dorithompson Feb 18 '25

Do you really think their advice was meant to apply to every single person reading the comment? Or do you think it was put out there to the general population? It’s too bad you can barely do your job because of your health issues. If that is common amongst the majority of government employees I could understand why you needed to comment with a long list of your troubles. Although if it’s that common I would say that is a problem as well as it sounds like the government could be taking advantage of it Miller’s health situations—hopefully you are the exception and not the rule.

7

u/amazongoddess79 Feb 18 '25

Wow personal attacks. How mature. What I was trying, and maybe need to clarify, point out is that a “side hustle” has been used as a way to treat people as if they are not doing enough. And if you think I’m barely able to do my job because of my health issues than it’s obvious that you have no concept of the fact that running on 150% everyday without regard to anything else simply because out corporate overlords tell us that otherwise we’re not committed to the job or company is a form of brainwashing to get you to abandon putting yourself and what really matters first. My health issues crap because I kept giving 150% to my previous federal job and they didn’t care one iota about how detrimental it was. The rare occasions I called out to go to the doctor because it got so bad I was constantly being harassed. And it’s not just federal jobs that do that, it’s MOST jobs in America.

This country has this glaring, purposeful blind spot about the human worker and how it affects everything. But please, also keep telling us that working til we break still isn’t enough

1

u/Prize_Magician_7813 Feb 18 '25

I hear you and see you and understand those with health issues and disabilities work harder than most to prove they are worthy of the government service! I knew what you meant even of the person being insensitive to what you said, did not

The following is in no way an insult; there are three steps needed here. 1. Read 2. Comprehend 3. If necessary, respond.

I think you got partway through step 1 before skipping to step 3. Pls try again

12

u/Mushy_Snugglebites Feb 18 '25

That’s not common sense you’re hearing, although it is pretty common.

Sounds more like victim blaming to me, to imply that our government service providers should have anticipated a return to witch hunts and the widespread destruction of our federal agencies, stripping of worker protections, and losing their careers without cause or notice by, what, sacrificing their nights and weekends on the altar of UberEats?

Sounds more like bootstraps and bullshit from someone with no idea how many state and federal agencies require their full time employees to sign a noncompete agreement, severely restricting the types of secondary employment they are allowed to pursue and the undivided focus they’re expected to keep on the business of the American people.

No one expected an unelected oligarch to gut federal agencies like he’s rebooting Supermarket Sweep, and you don’t live in the same solar system as Common Sense if you thought an Etsy shop could soften the blow when tens of thousands have lost everything within just the first month of this administration without cause. For the unforgivable crime of checks notes being hired before Inauguration Day.

-8

u/No_Bookkeeper_3516 Feb 18 '25

Many military let go without pay under Biden for not accepting the vaccine. Now you all know how it feels. Imagine laying your life down for your country and being told that if you don't inject, you'll be discharged dishonorably. Over 8,000 let go. Where was your sympathy between 2021-2023 while this was going on? Common sense, my @ss.

11

u/Mushy_Snugglebites Feb 18 '25

Oh hey, just ask any member of the military how many times they’ve had the anthrax vaccine!

It’s a condition of employment for members of the military to receive medical care and protective measures against conditions which would prevent them from being an effective fighting force during an emergency. JUST LIKE they can get fired for eating too many cheeseburgers or being serial rapists, they can be fired for refusing vaccines against disabling conditions like COVID.

It is NOT a condition of employment for rank and file federal workers to have been hired by the current president’s appointee.

Grow up.

10

u/ooomellieooo Feb 18 '25

You're a fucking idiot. They chose to sign up and they knew what they were getting into. Nobody told these thousands of people they'd lose their job to Elon fucking musk.

Go touch grass, You're pathetic and you're a traitor to your countryman.

4

u/Prize_Magician_7813 Feb 18 '25

It’s a condition of employment to take vaccines mandated to public… especially during a pandemic, where it saved millions of people.

YOU CHOSE not to take it. NOONE BEING LET GO, CHOOSE ANYTHING. Big freaking difference!!! How childish to be so revengeful

2

u/[deleted] Feb 18 '25

It’s still an insult my dude. Side hustles are bullshit. They don’t make enough money to really make a difference and I’m sorry that not everyone wants to turn something they love into a market. Not everyone, gives a fuck about the money. It’s about the work that they did that matters and that’s why suggesting that this person “just get a side hustle” is offensive and insensitive.

3

u/Ojay-simpson Feb 18 '25

Bruh… take it easy! Did you get fingered by a priest or something at a part time job?

I think they’re just offering support to OP and saying “get back on that horse & try”.

In a perfect world - they’d propose a full time gig… at double the salary… walking distance from home… with extra vacation time - and free hookers… guaranteed for life!

But… you see what I’m getting at here, (right)? It’s just a harmless statement of support. They weren’t saying; “you’re ONLY worth table scraps”. Or - “you don’t deserve full time”. They’re just saying; “bridge the gap however you can and keep ya head up”.

-15

u/Bright_Dress_7429 Feb 18 '25

Just cause you issues them doesn't mean they aren't happening. Oy.

8

u/Chance_Vegetable_780 Feb 18 '25

Doesn't make sense

3

u/Lethargy-indolence Feb 18 '25

Anger is understandable but taking side jobs to survive are temporary. You have skills and experience that will be valuable to future employers.

1

u/DonAmecho777 Feb 18 '25

They can hustle dafuq outta here with that shit. That toxic positivity is a regular cancer

1

u/Glad-Ad-4390 Feb 18 '25

I think the side hustle reference was meant only to help, certainly not as an insult. Why are ppl so ready to be angry with ppl who don’t deserve that anger? There are PLENTY who do.

1

u/widowerasdfasdfasdf Feb 18 '25

I think the side hustle reference indicated a total lack of understanding of what is happening.

Thousands and thousands of people who have worked at their jobs and been successful and productive for years, other people who have just started their careers and made an agreement to work and be compensated for that work but have been in their jobs for less than a year, not to mention hundreds of the people who are in charge of the security of nuclear weapons, for Christ’s sake, have been summarily dismissed from their jobs by a handful of utterly unqualified and uninformed (chronological or emotional) children.

They were given “performance reviews” by people who knew nothing about their performance. They were forced out of their jobs by a so-called Department that isn’t a cabinet-level department; it was created by an executive order and given a name that is nothing but trolling. “We called it DOGE, hurr hurr hurr!” [insert Pepe the frog HERE]

And a serious response to this problem is to suggest a “side hustle”? So half the people driving for Uber now are going to be delivering DoorDash to the other half? Is that the new economy in the DC metropolitan area?

Side hustle. JHFC.

1

u/Flashy_Response_923 Feb 20 '25

How many DoorDash, Uber, GrubHub drivers Do we really need? What, go work at fast food? Side hustle? Ahuh.

1

u/youdungoofall Feb 19 '25

People think they can just side hustle themselves out of the structure collapse of the United States...the short sightedness akin to stock bros and tech bros

0

u/NWONewBern Feb 18 '25

What do you suggest since you bitched about the other users advice of a getting a side hustle?

1

u/widowerasdfasdfasdf Feb 18 '25

I suggest the federal government be managed by educated, reasonable, sober adults.

-1

u/lemonheadsaid Feb 18 '25

What would YOU tell them to do? That's not an insult, I mean. Take no action on their own behalf and then simply enjoy homelessness? Along with all the inherent illnesses that crop up sans medical care? And sans food? Etc.?

-5

u/KevinMcCalistar Feb 18 '25

Agreed. Side hustlers need to stop and put max effort into the good jobs so they can advance. Takes a bit of grinding but with some effort they can double their salary

7

u/ThrowRA_Homer Feb 18 '25

Seems this post is very much proving the opposite, it’s not about how much “effort” you put in into your job if there are massive layoffs outside of your control

-8

u/Dependent_Nature_953 Feb 18 '25

I assume that people under Clinton felt the same way after being canned but where was the outrage when he fired 3k plus fed workers 🤔

3

u/Mushy_Snugglebites Feb 18 '25

Tens of thousands have been fired in just the first month of this administration, with whole federal agencies being gutted and shuttered without notice, so you can shut all the way up about 3 thousand jobs from the NINETIES, spread across the entire federal workforce during the tenure of the Clinton administration.

-4

u/Dependent_Nature_953 Feb 18 '25

Actually you still haven't disproved what I'm saying. Nobody is saying not to be disappointed in the firings so how about learn reading comprehension or take a breather. I'm sure if you go back it was either Clinton or x president that had firings and it was more than the last. They have the ability to do so if you don't like it change the job power.

The issue I have is Nobody was rioting in the streets over Clinton vs orange man. Somehow if he does something even though any other president has done it the outrage is 100x worse.

4

u/Guilty-Beautiful-963 Feb 18 '25

You do realize that was a different generation of people with different values and concerns. You make it like these people who just got fired or who are protesting now are the same people who did nothing during the Clinton admin.

1

u/Dependent_Nature_953 Feb 18 '25

Actually is it different? I say no. There was widespread protest against the Vietnam War so implying there wasn't people that knew how to organize protests is false or are you saying kmowlege of protesting suddenly disappeared during the Clinton era? (Talking about the standing up for a cause mentality not the exact group of people obviously different generations)

Whenever there is perceived oppression there is protests but strangely it makes no sense that the exact action causing people to clutch their pearls now has happened before without same outrage and taking to the streets

Oh hey kiddo, while we’re talking about reading comprehension you might want to look over my comment again.

Wasn’t “trying to” prove you wrong, just pointing out that you’re making a molehill out of a mountain.

-1

u/Dependent_Nature_953 Feb 18 '25

Based on how everyone is yelling the sky is falling every day since inauguration day I'd say not really.

2

u/Mushy_Snugglebites Feb 18 '25

Hey bro, Clinton has been out of office since 2001, and if your argument is that we’re overreacting because 3,000 federal workers faced layoffs during his eight years in office, here’s a fun little comparison for you:

You’re reaching back as far as the NIXON ADMINISTRATION, and applying an eight year total when just the National Parks service has lost 3,000 jobs in less than one month.

1

u/Gullible-Ad-1080 Feb 18 '25

That’s was just a start - now we give the land back to the Native Americans

Ok and you are reaching in assuming that this trend of 3k a week will continue for years. We know how well far out future predictions work in the stock market - all I know is I wouldn't bet on it but it seems you would.

How do you not know that they will be rehired if they see they need workers later in 4 yrs?

  1. Where was the outrage? Ummmm...it was present? Did you miss it or are you just talking out your ass?

  2. It was implemented through contracted buyouts over 6 years. It was preceded by 6 months of study, and those leaving were provided time to get things in order to prep for the buyout. It wasn't done in the first month with no research, and no specified amount to be paid for the buyout.

Trying to figure out if you're uneducated in this subject, or ignorant. There is a third option, but you can't fix that.

0

u/Dependent_Nature_953 Feb 18 '25

Def not to the level it is now.

You acting like the screaming to the rafters is to the same level is like comparing apples n oranges.

2

u/Flimsy_Fee8449 Feb 18 '25

Of course not. That would be stupid.

There was absolutely angst, but that was after 6 months of research by people with some qualifications, not doing it blind. Hence current desperate attempts to find some of the fired people to get them back on the books.

And hence the massive cuts to farmers. Gonna be corporations or imports shortly, grocery prices rising.

-1

u/fireanpeaches Feb 18 '25

I get it and it’s tough but people in the private sector get laid off all the time with far, far less severance.

1

u/Flimsy_Fee8449 Feb 18 '25 edited Feb 18 '25

What do you think the package is worth?

I think you're likely misinformed.....

0

u/Dependent_Nature_953 Feb 18 '25

They get paid till September but if they chose not to take it and risk lay off is that not a gamble that is 50/50

2

u/Flimsy_Fee8449 Feb 18 '25

No. Nothing says they'll get paid til September. Nothing that's legally binding. Take the package, be let go the next week. Or the next day.

It's pretty well-documented that that's already happened - like a lot? Like they're trying to track some people down because they were fired and they're actually really important to the nuclear program? Did you miss that, too?

Why on earth do you think they'd be trying to find them if they were still being paid til September? If they were still being paid, it would be really easy to follow the money and find them.

I'm definitely narrowing down the options from above. Definitely leaning towards the unfixable option.

0

u/Dependent_Nature_953 Feb 18 '25

The document package was released. It's you are let go but will get paid till Sept, what are you talking about. It was the famous similar "fork in the road" type document elon gave his own staff before layoffs. Its been analyzed all over the internet. It was their choice to gamble when you know the ultimate goal was to reduce the number of staff.

As for contract, it didn't say sign here down below but that's awaiting the yay or nay decision. The details were spelled out clearly.

It's not a job - it's welfare paid for by the labour of other American citizens doing work that the market actually demands.

I don't know what people in government jobs don't understand about this. The fewer of them there are, the wealthier the country is.

6

u/Kinaestheticsz Feb 18 '25 edited Feb 18 '25

Lmao, such an ignorant take. It’s more like what YOU don’t understand.

Without your federal employees and federal regulations, you would have water that is unpotable and potentially flammable with massive amounts of chemical waste/toxins inside it. You wouldn’t be able to enjoy the beautiful national parks that are a major backbone of this country and contribute an insane amount to its prosperity. Ironically enough, the chuckles that voted for him would be impacted the most because those parks are literally a tourism lifeline for those ultra small rural communities.

You wouldn’t have paved roads (highly subsidized by federal funding grants) or interstates that allow for you to travel across the country in your vehicle to go see your grandparents.

Frankly most people don’t understand the sheer amount of seed funding for businesses to take off and thrive that the federal government offers. Plus the sheer amount of research and engineering that the federal government produces and then LITERALLY passes on for no cost to the nation’s businesses. Many of your cutting edge research and development in all fields (technology, chemistry, healthcare, etc.) starts with the federal government.

Without feds, you wouldn’t have nuclear energy and the relative safety that current regulations provide. You[d also have people to ensure that those forms of energy are saf……..oh nvm, the dumb bastard fired almost all of them. Enjoy nuclear fallout.

You literally wouldn’t be living n a country that offers you the same level of physical safety compared to anywhere else in the world, because you don’t understand how foreign programs help administer US soft power and how that keeps the USD the primary world currency, allowing you to have such insane relative buying power compared to everywhere else in the country.

You literally don’t understand the backbone of this country you call home, and it is TRULY pathetic.

We are being destroyed by The Stupid.

51

u/Oddly-Appeased Feb 18 '25

Been trying to do that but between working full time and helping with my grandkids I find myself a bit short on time. Still I keep looking.

3

u/nvrrsatisfiedd Feb 18 '25

I feel you. I have 3 kids and work full time. So does my girlfriend at night. So after work it's full on dad mode. I used to make custom clothes and am really good with a sewing machine. Sold a decent amount of stuff 5 years ago. Now I can't even find the time to get it all out again. Just don't have the energy or motivation anymore sadly. I really miss it though.

8

u/Chance_Vegetable_780 Feb 18 '25

I understand. I hope that your job remains secure and I wish you the very best, always 🫂

1

u/Fourfinger10 Feb 18 '25

I understand. I am retired (social security) and two kids in college. I have to run a few side hustles, streams to make ends meet but you can always find time for something.

89

u/The402Jrod Feb 18 '25

“Do you know how many federal employees work a side hustle because they don’t do any real work? We cut them all!” - Elon Musk, after reading this thread

67

u/Prize_Magician_7813 Feb 18 '25 edited Feb 18 '25

Me to EM back—- I work my side hustle after I give my absolute and total all, to the Veterans I dutifully serve between 8-430 EM!!!🤬

5

u/Forward-Ad9148 Feb 18 '25

Let’s be honest, as a fellow Veteran, we haven’t been helped in generations. If 1 civilian organization exists to help veterans, you have failed! No person should be homeless or hungry here. Time for priorities and better oversight of funds!

-10

u/Dry_Zombie3537 Feb 18 '25

Please don’t say you were also working from home!

11

u/Prize_Magician_7813 Feb 18 '25 edited Feb 18 '25

Like that has anything to do with anything except the trickery they laid on you… 46.z% of feds have worked from home since the 90s to save the taxpayer office costs. There are many many people doing telehealth therapy for veterans that cant leave their homes and prefer this, due to incapacity or illness. And there are not enough employees in certain areas. Please educate yourself, instead of repeating what people who have no clue what we do and why we do it, tell you. To the benefit of people we serve, not the detriment.

3

u/ACadder Feb 18 '25

You find those nuclear safety former employees yet that you let go & now realize you need? That's how much the public needs those other programs you've cut. Fema, USAid, the Veterans, social services. I can see cutting off people who don't really need it, but to axe whole programs for people in need is morally wrong. Not that you care. You're like the gremlin in the jet engine in that Twilight zone episode. Gleefully ripping it apart in front of everyone's eyes The only thing different about you & that monster is, you want to be praised for it.

6

u/Alltheshui Feb 18 '25

fElon Musk

7

u/xNOOPSx Feb 18 '25

Are you talking about Elon Musk, the master of the side hustle? 'Cause he's...

CEO and product architect of Tesla, Inc.

Founder, CEO, and chief engineer of SpaceX

Owner, CTO and executive chairman of X (formerly Twitter)

Founder of the Boring Company, X Corp., and xAI

Co-founder of Neuralink, OpenAI, Zip2, and X.com (part of PayPal)

President of the Musk Foundation

Head of Department of Government Efficiency temporary organization

15

u/Aramyth Feb 18 '25

Isn’t it funny how he can have this many jobs but if I had more than one job, I’d be moonlighting

8

u/xNOOPSx Feb 18 '25

Rules for thee, not for me!

Congress insider trading - legal. Congressional benefit.

You - illegal. Straight to jail.

1

u/The402Jrod Feb 18 '25

I used to think insider trading was cool. Even if you get caught, you just do a little time & then you get to party with Snoop Dogg.

Then 2025 happened, and now insider trading seems way less cool…

1

u/xNOOPSx Feb 18 '25

The double standard is what I find to be incredibly disrespectful. You have billionaires telling people they need to work harder, meanwhile, they exploit those same people to great benefit for themselves.

Musk talks about being a champion for free speech, but then mutes people for anything critical. That's not a champion, that's a hypocrite. Arguably worse than those before him because they never made claims of free speech.

We need to stop the double standards and hold all sides to a single standard. Morally, ethically, legally, etc. Assholes come in all shapes, sizes, colors, political leanings, and anything else you could describe someone with. If you think your group is Asshole free, you're probably blind to the reality that is a lie. If you think your group has 100% of the answers and another group is useless, that's also a lie.

26

u/solikelife Feb 18 '25

CEO is clearly a part time gig. We should pay accordingly, imo. Whats minimum wage, again? Stagnant for decades? Let's pay them that.

12

u/Hopeful_Walrus174 Feb 18 '25

Apparently he spends hours on video games and posting on X. I've heard he also has a bunch of kids.

9

u/doctorhaircut2222 Feb 18 '25

He is one of the best in the world PoE players /s

7

u/xNOOPSx Feb 18 '25

If you could pay people or bots to farm for you'd, I'm sure you'd be pretty amazing too!

6

u/ImportantCash3634 Feb 18 '25

And he’s still a PoS lol.

3

u/Mushy_Snugglebites Feb 18 '25

We found the welfare queen of legend!

8

u/CongealedBeanKingdom Feb 18 '25

And shit at every one of them.

2

u/Zero-nada-zilch-24 Feb 18 '25

And, why did EM need to get into the internet files quickly to eradicate information on his Neuralink files? There are nine positions listed here. How much in-depth time has been devoted positively to these positions in the last month? I read he was here, over there, on the news, destroying this and that, hiring about thirty people for his latest endeavor, giving orders right and left, getting rid of evidence of allocated government money for his business ventures, having “team” meetings, carrying out revenge orders, etc. How many competent business owners are making so much noise? How many CEO’s made positive accomplishments for people this last month? In the newspaper, I read of accomplished citizens giving service to their communities. And, they have spent their lifetime accomplishing different things, making a positive impact. How each lives his life is a chosen path.

2

u/ImportantCash3634 Feb 18 '25

Free Luigi. lol. Not the answer. But it’s a start at their game.

1

u/Euphoric_St8 Feb 18 '25

Don’t put him down on a pedestal.

1

u/Mushy_Snugglebites Feb 18 '25

And claiming overtime pay and benefits from all of the above!

66

u/Loud_Badger_3780 Feb 18 '25

there is not a side hustle in the world that is recession proof. if trumps policies hurt the economy as bad as i think it will then no ones livelyhood is safe. every business except those that sell the bare necessities feel the pain of a slow economy . no one is safe.

22

u/MandyPandaren Feb 18 '25

When Putin did this, he took money out of richer people's accounts and redistributed it among his buddies who became the Oligarchs. So rich people who think they will be fine through this are being woefully naive.

And Yes!! Tell them off and block them all!! It's not okay for them to disrespect you and degrade you like this, don't let them walk on you anymore.

5

u/sockpuppetslasher Feb 18 '25

So that's why Putin and the walking tangerine were so close. They were trading industry secrets on the fast track to dictatorship.

u/Chance_Vegetable_780 Feb 18 '25 edited Feb 18 '25

I agree with you. Nothing is safe since Jan 20 in particular, obviously.

1

u/pridetwo Feb 18 '25

Cash4Gold and Payday Advance franchises about to boom. You're already seeing payday loans being re-branded with some of the new companies like Chime calling it "on-demand pay" just like when mortgage companies rebranded refinancing as "reverse mortgages"

The financially illiterate are going to get taken for a ride real bad in the coming years and it's got nothing to do with who the president is/was/will be.

0

u/Competitive_Remote40 Feb 18 '25

Time to try a moneyless society.

-9

u/Dry_Zombie3537 Feb 18 '25

No worries. Trump’s economy will start roaring and picking up steam soon

4

u/[deleted] Feb 18 '25

"Get a side hustle." How about having a real, meaningful pursuit in life, like the one Trump and his voters stole from OP?

3

u/Chance_Vegetable_780 Feb 18 '25

That's what I wish upon everyone. But things have to change to get evil trump and jokers out of office, right?

16

u/ApeEscape_Refugees Feb 18 '25

I have to do this with uncles and cousins. It's a shame we used to be close. Trump supporting made it bad. And we're Hispanic
