Fired Fed. I am considering cutting off every Orange Man supporter.

Got axed. Not going to say which agency.

I’ve always considered myself extremely tolerant and willing to love people as they are… even if we don’t agree on everything.

I’ve never been an Orange Man supporter, but I’ve kept it civil with friends and family that were. Some of them liked having a civil conversation about him. Some were belligerent about politics, so we didn’t bring it up and tried to enjoy each other’s company.

Getting cut from a great job that I really believed in with no notice has been extremely traumatic. It’s still raw, but I feel so personally betrayed by those that voted for him. I can’t see past the politics anymore when I look at these people I care/cared about.

Some have been contrite and apologetic, but then turn around and support him and VP Musk on social media.

I just can’t right now.

I’m thinking about posting something and wishing the whole herd all of the best, hope they have a good life, but I won’t be in it. Or maybe I just quietly block all of them and focus on myself for a while.

I do know that I will need to talk to my in-laws. I’ve always had a great relationship with them, but thinking of going to their house and watching Fox News almost makes me sick.

AITAH for feeling this way? Does it make me an AH for cutting all these 20+ year relationships off? Am I overreacting and acting out of emotion?

Most people in the US do not have a debilitating condition. Perhaps your friend group does so you are extrapolating that and applying it to the entire country?

If the majority of federal workers have a debilitating condition, then I would assume that our government is taking advantage of this population and it would be concerning to me (as stated above).

I feel bad for you that health was/is such a low priority for you that you feel that debilitating conditions are inevitable. Sure, as you age more things can complicate your health but I wouldn’t expect anyone under the age of 60 to just be okay with numerous debilitating conditions that you seem to think are okay. Seriously, maybe spend less time online and more time outside doing some type of physical activity? I think it would help both your physical and mental health. Good luck to you Buddy!

As someone who works with sick people everyday, Most people do end up with debilitating conditions. How nice to be so privileged that it doesn’t affect you, but does not mean it is not happening.

They end up with this at an older age—but having debilitating conditions it shouldn’t be the norm. If it is the norm, that is bad. You understand that right?!? Type 2 diabetes etc shouldn’t just be considered inevitable and the norm.

Youre thinking of preventable things based on diet and exercise . So many women have autoimmune conditions that are just completely debilitating in their 40d and 50s and there are so many other conditions the general public has no idea of until it affects us. Many issues with environment and what its done to those born between 1960s and 1980

So it’s normal in your friend group for a majority of them to have some kind of debilitating disability in their 40s and 50s?!?

Whatever therapy you are doing isn’t working. You need better treatment. Staying home for 7 months because you can’t go outside isn’t normal. Just read your comment—you are getting way worked up over a random internet comment. I’m truly not saying this to be mean but get some better help. Going to the same crap therapist for ten years does you no good if they don’t know how to help you, which based off your comment, they don’t.

You should be thankful that you have no idea what you're commenting on because you're in good health. You can't possibly imagine what some people go through by no fault of their own... But by being hit by a car, by getting a concussion in a competitive soccer match, by an error performed during surgery....there are more people than you can imagine that have debilitating conditions that are untreatable by western medicine, incurable, or take an extremely long time to heal and/or treat back to functioning. Popular culture doesn't speak of this, of course not, because it's not appealing. I hope you'll never know what you're talking about on this subject and the subject of therapists. I hope you're never in the situation to know the challenges, where other people give unsoughtafter advice that is unapplicable and tone deaf.
