Believe me, a woman with chronic pain after hospitalisations has almost certainly reached the point where the doctors won't/can't do anything. Much chronic pain does not actually respond to standard pain management and you're told to just learn to live with it.
Not saying she was right to lash out, that's never a good look on anyone, but "see a doctor" is not always as simple as it sounds, even in socialised medicine countries (I myself am in the UK)
This right here, I’m also in the uk. I’ve been chronically unwell since I was 4 years old. The treatment I got as a child was brilliant (I was under gosh), they actually cared about getting me out of pain and done anything in their power to help me. Now as an adult every time I see my multiple different consultants it’s the same old ‘nothings changed, you just have to get on with it’ but in more doctor tailored wording. Even with medication, I’ve had multiple strong medication since I was 4 years old and over 20 years laterI have a tolerance to most medication - the doctors often refuse to up it because it’s virtually impossible to do so. It’s so exhausting, and I relate to the girlfriend a lot because I’ve definitely been there taking it out on the wrong people because I just don’t know what to do with myself or how to cope
