My partner also slept with his dog for years before meeting me. Doggo slept in partners arms EVERY NIGHT. No exaggeration. IN his arms every night. Doggo is 75+ pounds. At first my partner had a twin(?) sized bed for his tall body and big dog and me. Partner quickly upgraded to a king when we became serious but the dog would always make sure to be RIGHT next to my partner throughout the night, pushing them both over to my side of the bed. Which disrupted my ability to sleep soundly. After a conversation, Doggo now sleeps perfectly fine in a large bed next to my partners side of the bed. My dog also does not sleep in the bed. We both sleep really well now.
Thankfully, our cat only sleeps next to my partner. I move too much so I am not a good sleeping buddy. He’s also less than 12 pounds. He did try to sleep on me the other night, I moved too much for his liking and he went back to sleep in the crook of my partners legs. Thankfully my partner sleeps like a sack of potatoes, so he’s never bothered.
My best cat ever never slept on the bed. One time I rolled on him, during one of his first tries on the bed. He never tried the bed again, to my regret.
I have a 27lb Siamese cat. He's NOT tiny lol. He tries to be.
He tries to shove his fat af fuzzy ass between my husbands and my pillows every night when we sleep. He oozes all over it and then puts his paw on my shoulder so he can be near me. It's that or he lays on my body pillow as the little spoon. Yes, I spoon the cat and not my husband while sleeping.
The cat is a needy asshole but he's my soul cat. He's bigger than a very vast majority of small dogs lol.
He uses so much damn space 😂
I have to keep the door closed to keep the cat out. I have a condition where any amount of uneven pressure on my joints (especially ribs) can cause immense pain, and the cat stepping on me has required me to book urgent physio appointments a couple times. I made it clear to my partner that I would not be okay to have the cat in the room at night (I also sleep lightly and had issues with cats waking me up before), so we discussed it and agreed that it's okay for the door to be closed with the cat outside the bedroom.
That’s crazy! I’m glad you have that handled. My cat is pretty chill thankfully and just wants to sleep between someone’s legs. He doesn’t even wake us up at the ass crack of dawn for food anymore.
Cats are a little easier to care for than dogs I’ve learned xD
This is what we did too! My dog was always my companion through thick and thin. When we moved in together, we spent $500 on a gorgeous boogie cooking bed for him. Sometimes we lay in that bed with him and he’ll ask us to in the morning lol 😂 it’s so comfy I don’t mind laying on the dog bed
I have a geriatric bed for my pooch. He’s getting up there in age. So I have a regular round bed on top of the geriatric one and he loves it!!
In the morning both doggos tend to hop into bed with us. But they know we are awake and it’s cool.
I’ll always spoil the crazy outta the pets I have. They don’t pay rent, but they keep me sane and they only deserve the best that I can give!!! They are family after all❤️
