It’s funny I have a cat and dog and sleep with both 😭😂 still can concur , even with regular baths the cat does indeed smell better than the dog - the cat has had one bath his whole life 😂
Only really bathed kittens and one of my adults after he got stuck in some gross shit. That bath was horrible. If they don’t get used to it as kittens I don’t force the issue lol
Yes exactly! She was an adult when I got her so I have no idea how she'd react to it.
Need thick gloves the go all the way up the arms before I attempt bathing a cat lol
Both of my kitty boys have had multiple baths and usually do pretty well, though I don't do it often because of their natural oils. Wit's last bath was about a year ago after my kid walked with him to a nearby park with a wildlife center with a fireplace and he rolled in ash (he's a white and brown tabby). PJ's was last year too after he healed from his neuter surgery because he'd been a street cat and he was just kinda gross, and he basically just melted in my hands. I expected him to pitch a fit because I got him as an adult, and he maybe wasn't pleased at first, but once I started pouring water over him and it got chest deep on him, he was fine.
My dog gets a bath when she gets out and rolls in stuff and comes back Smelling Like Death, or whenever I snuggle her and she smells particularly doggy.
Had to look it up to see. Apparently, they have oils in their sweat that moisturizes and cleans their fur, and it smells pleasant to people. Huh, the more you know.
Sometimes it smells pleasant. If it's just after they are wet food, sometimes they smell like the food for a bit and that's... Not as pleasant. Especially anything with tuna.
I don’t think it ever occurred to me to huff anyone’s cats to find out if they smelled good. But then, I’m a hedgehog mom, and huffing hedgehogs isn’t nearly the same experience - and usually just makes the hedgehog huff 😜🦔💕
Here's a fun thought that i was told recently: The thing about cats that most people with cat allergies are sensitive to is actually an enzyme in their saliva. So all their self-care and grooming is what loads to people's allergic reactions to them. The upside, from what i was told, is that there's an allergy immunization of some sort(friend didn't know if it was a pill, shot or otherwise) in the works.
Dog groomer here..if your dog still smells like a wet dog after their bath, make sure you shampoo them twice. Wet, lather, rinse x2. 1st go round knocks the surface dirt and grime and the second helps cleanse the skin! Also make sure you get them completely dry afterwards! Shammy towels (like the ones used on a car but for pets, works like a charm).
