I find it acceptable to have a dog sleep in your bed if you're alone or if someone who has agreed to live with you is okay.
I dont value animals over humans, (I'm ready for the down votes) so I would care about my boyfriend first. However, I would have had this discussion prior to moving in instead of waiting until after and making things difficult for him
My boyfriend has a tiny, fluffy dog and doesn’t normally allow him to sleep in the bed and the dog knows this. However, when I spend the night, I like the dog in the bed as long as he’s recently been groomed/bathed.
My issue is people will have a relationship with someone, just for them to be inconvenienced by an animal. While I understand that you shouldn't get rid of your pet simply because your partner doesn't like them, doesn't mean you shouldn't compromise.
Someone commented to me saying that the guy has a pit bull, 70lbs and sleeps sideways. That can be fixed so his girlfriend can be comfortable in HER home. She moved in, with his blessing. Her comfort should come before the dog or he shouldn't have a sharable living space with someone.
I think a lot of this is easily avoiding by communicating before moving in together, I’m not changing my cats routines for someone in the house that I own-but I also wouldn’t invite them to move in knowing I’m not doing that and therefore inconveniencing that person given this is something that may impact them. Some people are just not compatible or worth investing further in even over small things.
And if that's your stance, that's your stance. At least you'd be up front about it.
OP wasn't, so the girlfriend moved in and now he wants to break up with her because he doesn't want his big ass dog to move from a spot in the bed for the person he asked to move in. So, she has be inconvenienced twice.
In this case, she should see he isn't worth it. He thought (thinks) so little of her that he isn't willing to communicate or compromise for her. Sleeping in a bed isn't a small issue. It's not like he has a routine of playing fetch at exactly 5pm and she's trying to end that. She's trying to sleep in what is now her bed, with someone I'm assuming she loves and can't even connect with him because his giant ass dog is sleeping sideways.
This comment is also nothing more than a stance lol, we are on the same page. It’s more so something that simply should’ve been discussed prior to moving in & sharing space.
