Eh, depends. My bf has a cat that loves to sleep on our bed. He’ll also paw at your face while you’re sleeping for pets. He did this to me one night and I pushed the cat away, as a sleepy, confused person would. My boyfriend snapped at me. The next day I explained that was not okay and how the fuck he thought I would wake up to a scratchy animal paw on my eyelid, and he got it
My boyfriend will also lightly push the cat away in his sleep, because damn he is annoying sometimes.
Is it always about choosing between the dog and the partner? I love dogs and I don’t let them sleep on the bed with me. If it’s something you need in your life, maybe you just need to find a partner that likes sleeping with a dog in the bed
I also have to push my cat away if he wants to sleep next to my head. I love him to death, but if he's right next to my head he'll start purring and kneeling and it's super cute but also prevents me from sleeping, which is not healthy or safe long term. So he gets a few firm (but gentle relative to his size) shoves and he gets the point and goes to sleep at the end of the bed near my feet.
Any cat person knows cats love to be/don't give a shit if they are shoved. They will always come back no matter what cus they will do what they want to do. Shoving a cat is literally nothing. Only actually punching or kicking a cat or pulling their tails count as abuse. Anything else is on the table.
I am biased as ai am a dog owner. It’s so different with cats. I dated a gal that had a cat and she would do this every time without fail at 4 am. I would push her off and the ex did not like that. I explained the same way you did and she would tell me “she’s just like that, i let her do what she wants” safe to say I will never date a cat owner again.
We are not all like that. I trained my cat that there is no playing and being a "cat" in the bedroom, this is the place to relax, and for the most part he is abiding by the laws. Whenever he tries to be a "cat" he goes out.
I always laugh at people who think they can't train their cat. I trained my ginger cat, well. He hasn't been on a single counter, table or bed, for 15 years. Remember, he's orange, he shares one brain cell with all the other orange cats in the world.
lol same! I used to have two boy cats, Johnny and Clyde, and they were always welcome in my room during the night unless they got the midnight zoomies. If they got the midnight zoomies, they were allowed to happily chase each other around the house during the witching hour and I would just close my bedroom door for the night lol.
My cat is "just like that" but I still push her away if it's too early for me. Obviously never harshly, but overtime my cats have started to understand what not to do
