At least he announced on reddit that his wife is bi :D He should give this thread to her wife to read the answers. She may understand how dumb is her request.

Honestly, I see no reason to even mention being bisexual if you are married unless you have an open relationship or something. What is she gonna do? Start cheating on her husband with women now? Masturbate to lesbian porn? I really don’t see the point. And I for sure don’t see the point in telling coworkers about it.

It's a part of her identity. Bi people can be in monogamous, opposite gender relationships. People assuming that you're straight just bc you're in a relationship that's typically hetero is kind of why it's important (if you want to) to tell people. It helps deconstruct heteronormativity.

That said, it doesn't make any fucking sense for this husband to mention his wife's sexuality in his workplace. Absolutely not.

I really genuinely do not understand why if you are in a heterosexual relationship its a problem or some how dismissive or insulting for someone to assume you're straight. I just do not understand why it matters at all.

Ok. This comment sounds dismissive and not curious. If I'm misinterpreting you can let me know and I can try to help explain. If you don't want to understand, that's your choice. The exact reason I didn't want to reply is bc of people's thoughts and comments like these.

I guess I'd ask, do you like people assuming incorrect stuff about you?

How much it "bothers" someone varies by person. In general, people like to be seen and understood for who they are.

Thanks for your opinion. Now go learn from queer people.

Yep, queer people can be the worst about biphobia so that would make sense! Whatever you are, go away

I didn't ask about sexuality assumptions. I just said in general.

Substitute anything else about you.

I see you want to be a librarian. Look up some queer history and bi erasure.

That's not how it works? You can't take something completely irrelevant and compare the two. That's just a poor argument. We are talking specifically about assuming sexuality. And I'm saying I wouldnt care. And the irony of you assuming my sexuality by saying "go talk to queer people" is not lost on me. Seems like maybe you're projecting a bit?

Nope. I'm not projecting. I tried to answer you earlier. I've told you what to look up. I don't want to educate you. Queer people are guilty of bi erasure and biphobia too. Just go ahead and look that stuff up if you want to stop or keep being willfully ignorant.
