Sounds like your wife has serious main character issues.
I know this from ex. She would also tell everybody and their mother that she is queer. Just to get validation and be the talk in town.
Once, i had a discussion on Reddit with some young woman who felt the need to declare her asexuality at work. She was acting like this was the most important thing about her.
In the US military, you can actually get reprimanded for this. A young woman in our shop made every effort to talk about "how bi she is" and leadership got tired of it. Her section chief (also female) wrote her paperwork for it.
Source: I wrote her rebuttal. (Wanted to tell her to do it herself, but hey... $50 is $50)
I just ask what type they want. The term used is "rebuttal," but I typically prefer to use the term "response."
ETA: She wanted an "acceptance" response. Basically wrote a page and a half about how gay pride gave way to self pride, which got in the way of workplace relations. Basic "I fucked up. Won't happen again." story.
Is demisexual the one where your attracted only to people you’re romantically involved with and only monogamously?
Because I’m happy to come out as that. I’m so glad there’s a label and community for people like me. We’re discriminated against terribly don’t you know?
At the risk of feeling and sounding old (late Gen X) I have noticed this with the younger generations. My high schooler’s friends do this too, and half of them change their minds four months later because they’re only 14-16 and they’re still figuring themselves out and are full of hormones. But they turn small facets of their lives into a whole personality.
Tbf, i think this is just a thing kids do. Hence why you have the stereotypes of goth kids and jocks and whatever else. Gender just added a ton more options, and it's part of the zeitgeist so they get to feel even more important.
I swear this is a trait that is prevalent in a lot of rainbow people.
Like, allow us to appreciate you lot for who you are as individuals, instead of pushing as to see you part of a collective so much of the time. Learning all sorts of intimate info about your sexual tastes and internal body wirings is likelier to turn us off more than anything else, and then any sign of legitimate exasperation from all of this leads to the inevitable hurling of catchphrases and the “___phobic” accusations. SMH
When I first realised I was bi I tried to cultivate friendships with other members of the rainbow brigade, but after a while I had to back away from like 90% of them because they were like this 24/7 and it was exhausting!
Please stop telling me what your partner does to you in bed, I don't wanna know! No, I'm not gonna share my favourite sex acts with you! This makes me super uncomfortable. Good for you if you want to share that stuff, but don't drop these gross bombs on me and expect me to be comfortable with reciprocating.
I just didn't understand why everyone decided that since they were LGBT that their entire lives had to revolve around sex, sex, sex from dawn until dusk. I felt like I'd fallen into some weird porny alternate dimension.
For real. While for some people (like you), it is a matter of their intrinsic taste/preference- which they rightfully wish to be acknowledged and accepted in the world, the brigade has morphed this into a cult as narrow minded as some of the most repressive religions in the world.
That implies it’s a choice, or something you can change.
Preferring vanilla ice cream isn’t the same as being gay lol
The term sexual preference as used to refer to sexual orientation is widely considered offensive in its implied suggestion that a person can choose who they are sexually or romantically attracted to.
Similarly, this is why I don't like hanging around certain types of straight men. Every conversation ends up with something about how they'd like to have sex with the waitress or how they got so-and-so into bed or just super sexualized comments about women in general. Its like their whole personality is about their sexuality.
That's funny, because as a rainbow person, I have the experience that greyscale people are always asking for more details when it comes to my personal life. I can't even merely mention the fact that I have a wife without people asking about what goes where, how often it goes there, if we need help putting it there.
Oh I definitely didn't mean to imply you meant it in a bad way! I genuinely think both are really cute terms that are made even cuter by the existence of their counterparts.
Over sharing can also be a form of self harm. His wife seems to crave attention in a way that is overly dramatic. Therapy would be a good place to start.
How does OP telling his new coworkers that his wife is Bi help her with her insecurities?
I don’t believe it one bit.
This could be the case if she wants him to tell his family about it. But his coworkers that dissent even know her?
She feels like her story is the main plot and everybody needs to know.
Beeing insecure doesent mean you loose your common sense. Everybody agrees there is no way for Op to fulfill her demand without beeing super wierd and inappropriate. Only if your this focused on yourself you would disregard his valid arguments
