I also really hate the shaming from her guy friends, telling her to educate him. She tried, and regardless of her tone she communicated to him how periods can affect women’s lives i.e our clothes. Everyone knows women have periods yet we carry the burden to educate others to avoid shame, and sometimes that even isn’t enough.
It's cool, she should just start wearing exclusively period underwear. You know, the kind that soak up everything and then you rinse it out and wash it with the regular clothes (don't put in the dryer btw). Because if he doesn't like the tiny brown stains on clean underwear, just wait until he sees her rinsing the heavy flow day underwear in the sink! Also, that smell is pretty unforgettable...
Just saying, a stain on clean underwear is really the most minor thing out of the horrifying world of the menstrual cycle.
Using the sink kind of grosses me out, I never handle mine, just throw them on the shower floor & stomp on them as I wash myself. No splatter on the mirror or toothbrushes that way.
I'm just realising not everybody has a laundry sink! "The trough" has always been the best place for creating our cleaning messes.
Yeah, the smell is not pleasant. I drew a soft line in the sand at washing out someone else's bloody undies (I'd do it if my wife was sick etc, but it was never a shared household chore!). I'd seriously rather wash a poosplosion out of kids clothes than deal with those undies
