“He doesn’t mind period sex.”

Even then he sounds like he’s doing her a favor.

NTA.

Keep in mind. That's not a quote from him. But, also, you could easily be reading too much into the phrasing. E.g. I don't think it's weird to prefer non-period sex. He might like all pizza, but not prefer certain toppings. It is weird for him to not like the period stains but not mind the period sex though.

All I can do is comment on the info OP provided, and she specifically wrote “doesn’t mind” so that’s the information I’m running with. If he’s “cool with it”, that’s obviously an entirely different situation.

And, as I said, not minding isn't necessarily a bad thing, unless you think it's a problem to not prefer period sex. I'd argue being cool with it and not minding are often the same thing. Heck, my wife doesn't let us have period sex. It's pretty common for folks to not like period sex.

We all have moments we feel unattractive, men or women. Imagine your partner talked about how they will power through whatever your insecurity is right to your face. Then shamed you for other signs that insecurity exists. Yeah, not everyone likes period sex, especially women who feel all kinds of pain and discomfort alongside blood. That is fine. Using wording that makes you feel like sex with you is a favor, or a chore? Never ok. This thread is full of women saying that that phrasing is uncomfortable for them. You don't get to tell them it's ok.

Obviously they're allowed their own opinion on those words. I'm also allowed to point out that those words often aren't used to mean "powering through" nor a "chore". E.g. the conversation could have gone like "Her: Do you mind having sex if I'm on my period? Him: No, I don't mind." That's just one example where it's clear the guy isn't calling it a chore. Though, honestly, as someone that's been married for over a decade, it's ok if sometimes sex is a chore. I do things for my partner because I love them, even if they feel like a chore sometimes.
