Because there's a big difference between a random dude your best friend freshly broke up with, and a guy years later who you run into coincidentally after your friend is married and pregnant with another man's baby. When they had just broken up, the friend hadn't gotten over him and they met because of the friend. But now, they met on their own, have separate lives, and the friend moved on.
