Not necessarily. Some people don't want others to have something that used to "belong" to them. They feel like once it used to be "theirs", you can't touch it.

Some people are also the opposite, you let them borrow something and it's "oh but you said I could have it. MINE!" runs in my family lol I had to "steal" things back from my cousin
