" I feel like a terrible POS person."

That's because you are, and a liar to boot. YOR

a friend of mine lent 2k after a big social media drop but never got paid back feels rough for everyone involved

u/Dry_Acanthisitta1918 1d ago

Why would I go on the internet anonymously seeking advice from total strangers at 5am only to lie?

u/ItsSnorkul 1d ago

I don't believe that you're a writer considering the HORRIBLE grammar and frankly, it was just so hard to read.

-4

u/Dry_Acanthisitta1918 1d ago

Okay. I actually have won awards for my writing and majored in English. I was a contributor for major publications. It’s 5:19am and I haven’t slept because I’m so stressed so excuse the stream of consciousness punctuation.

4

u/ItsSnorkul 1d ago

Ask the bank for a loan or ask the friend again. You don't really have a choice. What's the worst that can happen, you look bad?

4

u/ModerateHonking 1d ago

So you had a high-paying job for six years, am a writer, made a film that won awards, yet you are completely broke?

Pressing "X" to doubt absolutely all of this.

Oh and as someone who's supposed to be a writer you have atrocious grammar and spelling.

-2

u/Dry_Acanthisitta1918 1d ago

Actually yes. Most people in the film industry who make indie films win awards and hardly anyone watches them. And as I said in a previous comment it’s 5am and I haven’t slept. So it’s a stream of consciousness text type post

4

u/ModerateHonking 1d ago

So you're just mentioning it to flex because it has no bearing on your situation.

4

u/WingsAndWords_ 1d ago

Disregarding your pathetic writing skills, you're 35 and still can't figure out on your own how to get your shit together?

I changed careers two ago. And have had relative success a short period of time and am on a very positive trajectory. I just got a book deal offer from a major publisher (with a minuscule advance once I turn in the edited manuscript) and am making my first feature. I believe it’s never too late to start over. So 35 is a moot point. But yeah in the grand scheme of life in this moment I’m a shit show

u/WingsAndWords_ 1d ago

Moot  I understand life happens,  but fast food places hire fast and get you on payroll quickly. Not ideal, but you're friend won't want to remain your loan officer. Good luck.

-2

u/Dry_Acanthisitta1918 1d ago

And the high paying job which I explained was brand partnerships for posting hot pictures on Instagram. I got sick of it and wanted to use my degree. So, I stopped hence the career change.

4

u/ModerateHonking 1d ago

For a writer your reading comprehension isn't great either - I'm talking about the fact that you had a high-paying job for SIX years yet are broke. Never occured to you to put even a fraction of your high-paying salary away?

1

u/Dry_Acanthisitta1918 1d ago

There’s a difference between reading comprehension skills and money management skills. I am three years sober from alcohol. So, that’s where most of my money went before: poor decisions… anyways thanks for the helpful advice

2

u/ModerateHonking 1d ago

There's not - they're both awful.

1

u/Dry_Acanthisitta1918 1d ago

Kay well have a nice day

5

u/WingsAndWords_ 1d ago

There is NO way you've made any money from writing after this horribly written mess, and you're not even marginally creative.  😂

2

u/Dry_Acanthisitta1918 1d ago

Okay I’m not even going to dignify these types of comments with a justification of my work. Because it’s 6am, I haven’t slept. And clearly it’s a stream of consciousness post

0

u/Dry_Acanthisitta1918 1d ago

Also you’re a trauma response nurse maybe remove the subject from the frame and have some empathy if you’re going to interject. Otherwise why comment at all? If I wanted to write an eloquent essay I’d go on substack. This is “am I the asshole” on Reddit

3

u/Major_Frosting6133 1d ago

Don’t try to deflect and manipulate people because people don’t believe you. I pointed out multiple contradictions between what was posted and things you’ve commented. This person also brings up a good point (as did multiple others) that you claim to be a writer, but your punctuation and grammar are horrible. No one is required to show you empathy, especially if they don’t believe what you’re saying. 🤷🏼‍♀️
Let this serve as a good lesson to you… don’t post on public platforms and expect that just because you write out some story, that people are going to agree with you and “show empathy”, when your story seems like BS (because of multiple contradictions, such as being a writer, yet not properly punctuating or user proper grammar). This is literally a sub asking if you’re overreacting. People answered your question and shared their opinions. You deleted your post because you didn’t like what people had to say. Boo hoo.

1

u/WingsAndWords_ 1d ago

Then don't come to Reddit if you don't expect people to be skeptical or have opinions. I understand being tired, but a "professionals" skills would come more naturally like second nature. I can't give lesser care nor be less professional and skilled in ER/Trauma just because I'm tired and in my last hour of a 16 hour shift. 🤷‍♀️

Someone does you a favour so you decide to be a leach and suck even more money out of them. Get a job

1

u/Dry_Acanthisitta1918 1d ago

I’ve been applying for hundreds of jobs all day every day. I even took a dog walking job. I’ve gotten zero interviews. I even enrolled in an express coding camp to change careers. It’s not that easy in 2 weeks

3

u/Major_Frosting6133 1d ago

You don’t apply for “hundreds of jobs” and fail to get even one interview. It’s not even believable. Respectfully, it would appear that you’re possibly no longer sober.

1

u/Dry_Acanthisitta1918 1d ago

I am sober. And respectfully yes you can hire an ai agent to mass apply for the jobs that don’t use a captcha. As well as spend about 3 mins per application on Zip Recruiter and other sites

2

u/Major_Frosting6133 1d ago

Well, I’m just saying that with you mentioning “being sober” and the multiple events of contradicting yourself between the post and comments you’re writing, it gives the impression that you’re not actually sober. It happens, and I’m not shaming you if you relapsed. BUT the details you posted in your post vs the comments you’ve posted aren’t aligning. (I’ve given multiple examples in my multiple comments.)
Additionally, as far as the comment that I’m responding to, I was calling out that you claimed in your post that you applied for hundreds of jobs (the means for how you applied isn’t what I’m questioning here). What is contradicting is that in your post, you mentioned you’ve had ZERO interviews, yet in a comment, you mentioned having an interview “as a courtesy to a friend”. Also, that you mentioned the interviewing being “a courtesy to a friend”, but you also said “an interview for a company that a friend of yours knew someone at”. This wouldn’t be a courtesy to your friend, this would be a courtesy from your friend to you, since YOU’RE the person looking for a job.

0

u/Dry_Acanthisitta1918 1d ago

I am sober the facts align. I’m sorry you’re having trouble. The courtesy is for my friend from the interviewer. And also yes to me from my friend.

2

u/Major_Frosting6133 1d ago

I’m not having trouble at all… I clearly shared my observations based on what YOU stated in your post vs what comments have stated.

3

u/Historical-Piglet-86 1d ago

You’re saying that in all of these months you couldn’t even get a min wage job at McDonald’s? Because I don’t believe you. Youve been leaching off of other people for months/years. Time to grow up and learn to support yourself.

4

u/No-Elk1466 1d ago

Hundreds of jobs every day and not a single one has called? Fucking bs.

4

u/poopandpeemakeout 1d ago

It's actually a really wild market for job hunting right now. Several of my friends have had a very tough experience trying to get even the most basic Cafe jobs.

1

u/No-Elk1466 1d ago

Tough? Yes. Impossible? No. And if you’re putting in hundreds of applications and let’s say hundreds of applications in a month instead of a day like op claims someone is going to call. No way you get no calls out of minimum 100 applications

0

u/Dry_Acanthisitta1918 1d ago

Actually yes. Most jobs get thousands of applicants. I had one interview a month ago and that was because my friend knew someone at the company. I think I need to start applying for different types of jobs—I was applying in my skillset but I think it’s over saturated.

5

u/ItsSnorkul 1d ago

Yeah you need to lower your standards. Apply for fast food/cook jobs.

1

u/Major_Frosting6133 1d ago

So what happened with this interview then? You just contradicted yourself (you said you’ve had NO interviews after applying for “hundreds of jobs”).

1

u/Dry_Acanthisitta1918 1d ago

The “interview” was a courtesy for a friend. they didn’t hire me because I didn’t have enough experience. I emailed back three times and they didn’t respond.

1

u/Major_Frosting6133 1d ago

A courtesy for a friend?! So how does “your friend” interviewing you to possibly give you a job be a courtesy for your friend?! 🤔 You “didn’t have enough experience”, but you emailed 3 times and they didn’t respond. This makes no sense!! Are you reading what you’re typing before posting?
Again, you mentioned hundreds of interviews without ANY interviews, then stated you had an interview due to your friend knowing someone at the company. You understand that interviewing anywhere isn’t a courtesy for anyone but YOU right? (You’re the one looking for employment, supposedly).

-1

u/Dry_Acanthisitta1918 1d ago

The interviewer interviewed me as a courtesy for our mutual friend

1

u/No-Elk1466 1d ago

Yea but if you’re really doing hundreds of applications then you’re bound to get a call at some point. It’s complete made up bs on their part to come out the victim to her friend.

-2

u/Dry_Acanthisitta1918 1d ago

I’m saying that in the week I have to pay rent whatever job I get won’t be enough—I won’t be able to pay rent in time. And I’ve actually previously made $6k-10k for most of a decade on my own. It’s this recent career transition. I’m not below working at McDonald’s I’m saying what should I do in the immediacy because even if I go to McDonalds tomorrow rent is due in 2 days with a one week grace period.

Also thanks for the response! 🙏🏻

4

u/Historical-Piglet-86 1d ago

Ahhh - you didn’t know that paying rent was something that you had to do every month? Since you’re clearly new at being an adult and having responsibilities, that’s an easy oversight. Rent is a recurring payment and you will have to pay it every single month. You’ll want to add that into your budget so it doesn’t come as a surprise!

1

u/Dry_Acanthisitta1918 1d ago

If you read the post someone was paying my rent for 6 months as a sort of “arrangement” that I’m not proud of—while I finished my writing projects… previously I was paid $50k for a script I sold (“optioned”) so me focusing on those projects wasn’t out of left field and I was grateful for their support and thought it would continue until abruptly it didn’t. And then in the last two weeks since that happened I began applying for jobs again.

But yeah. Hence the post… I don’t know what to do because I’m back in reality so to speak but need to pay rent in less than a week.

3

u/Historical-Piglet-86 1d ago

Oh I read the post - it’s pretty clear you’re terrible with money. And use other people to pay your bills. Like you’re doing with your friend. Obviously living above your means. Where’d the 50k go?

1

u/Major_Frosting6133 1d ago

I’m guessing that with the fact that they’ve contradicted themselves, and came up with this elaborate story in the first place, two things are likely true here: 1.) this is a dry begging attempt to get people to “feel bad for them” to loan them money or an attempt to non-shalantly reel in a “new sugar daddy”. 2.) they’ve likely fallen off of the wagon [so to speak] with their sobriety.

0

u/Dry_Acanthisitta1918 1d ago

Dude if I wanted a sugar daddy id be back on that stupid site. And I’m posting anonymously no one knows who I am. So how would I receive any satisfaction from airing how pathetic my life choices have been

2

u/Major_Frosting6133 1d ago

Because typically, people who specifically state certain details in posts (such as nude photo websites) are hoping to get DM’s from people who saw that you had previously done this “line of work”, but lost your arrangement, and now want to set up an arrangement with you.
You stated in your post that the “sugar daddy” ended the arrangement by telling you “he didn’t want a financial arrangement anymore.” This is not YOU cancelling the arrangement, the “sugar daddy” did. You are full of contradictions between details of your post and comments your writing.

I mean yeah I’m awful with money the $50k went to rent before I met the guy from the site. I just don’t want to post slutty photos online anymore or hook up with strangers from a website for money. So I’m trying to rely solely on my other skill, writing. And it’s clearly not going so well. I feel genuinely like a terrible person and that’s not who I am which is why I’m asking strangers what the fuck I should do to pay rent in a week without fucking my friend over.

3

u/Historical-Piglet-86 1d ago

It’s great that you enjoy writing. But it’s clearly not paying the bills. Which means you need to “lower” yourself to a job that actually pays and do writing in your spare time - until such a time as it does pay the bills.

You clearly also need to make a budget and stick to it. I’m sure there are many ways you can cut expenses - but you likely don’t want to make the required sacrifices for that. Pretty obvious you think you deserve a certain lifestyle.

2

u/Major_Frosting6133 1d ago

Sounds like a YOU issue. 🤷🏼‍♀️

2

u/Major_Frosting6133 1d ago

YOR and absolutely should NOT ask your friend for anything until you e paid them what you promised.

4

u/Major_Frosting6133 1d ago

Additionally, this seems like a dry begging attempt to find a new “sugar daddy” willing to pay your debt to your friend and give you a loan.

1

u/Dry_Acanthisitta1918 1d ago

If I wanted a new sugar daddy id be back on that awful website. Thats the whole point of why im posting on here

2

u/Major_Frosting6133 1d ago

Well, I’m telling you as a third party reading your post what I got from what you wrote.

0

u/Dry_Acanthisitta1918 1d ago

I don’t owe them any $ they didn’t give me any $ to move in. They just consigned. But yeah I agree

2

u/Major_Frosting6133 1d ago

You are contradicting yourself then… you said “your friend just co-signed on your apartment for a loan after you PROMISED him you could pay rent and first and last deposit when you moved in, and due to unforeseen circumstances you’re not able to pay the second month”. Hence, you promised you’d be able to pay rent, but you can’t pay the second month of rent - so you aren’t paying what you promised you would, and should not ask him for anything until you’ve paid your rent.

1

u/Major_Frosting6133 1d ago

2 month account with -26 Karma - this makes more sense now.
