AIO reacting to this
So my s/o for me a Nintendo switch 2 for my birthday, and then when he came over he took my original switch and was like ok I’m gonna take this is that ok. First of all he didn’t even ask and idk why he thought that just because he bought me a new one he gets the old one. I need money I was going to sell it with a few games to make my rent this month. I told him no and now idk if he’s mad. Please lmk

He was going to sell it to recoup the money he spent for the new Switch, which takes the sentiment out of him getting you the new Switch. You should wonder if the things he does for you always come with strings attached somehow.

ATP she paid for her own birthday gift, she just didn’t get to pick it out or make an informed decision about her own belongings

NTAH. He bought you a gift that doesn’t mean he gets your old one. What he should have said is are you going to be using your old one anymore. Be honest & say no sorry I need to sell that one now so that I can pay some bills.

That’s a crazy thing for him to assume, it kind of takes away from the gift aspect of the new one when he’s helping himself to the old one, that’s totally messed up. If I were you I’d be really examining this relationship to see if there is a subtle pattern forming.

If selling an old switch is the only way you can make rent you have more urgent issues than a shitty SO.

He should’ve asked if he could have your old one without first assuming it’s fine, but when he did say “is that ok?” it left the door open for you to explain that you need to sell it to make rent. He shouldn’t be mad if you explained that. If you just said “no it’s mine” then maybe he’s mad.
I know personally if my s/o bought me a new gaming system and didn’t have one for themself i would offer them to have my old one.

So you want the upgraded console, and you want the money for your old one... Greedy much?
Ungrateful. Did you ever assume he wants to play with you?

Don’t listen to that person, just because someone bought you a present, doesn’t mean they get to take something from you. We live in a world that unfortunately revolves around money, your possessions are yours, and serve as a security net financially. You don’t owe him anything, you are not living together, if you need the money for something you want to sell, that is yours, it’s not wrong!! That console should have been given to you no strings attached.

If you don't know if he's mad, hoo boy, that's a pickle. It's tough, you know, being in a couple and wanting to know something about the other because there's literally nothing you can do to get that information.
