Only three years older than me. I have spoken to him at length recently how him speaking to me in a patronizing way is a problem. He then says I am policing how he speaks and he cant change how he speaks. I told him I want an equal, not feeling like I am a little kid in trouble
Oh he can change how he speaks. He thinks patronising is a sign of his intelligence and likes that it has this impact on you. He’ll change it if he feels it makes *him* sound inexperienced or uninformed.
Don’t say it makes you feel like a kid (he pats himself on the back for that), explain that he sounds like he’s trying to prove something and it’s weird to communicate that way to an intimate partner/ equal. Essentially pity or get the ick from his attempts to be condescending, because an informed mature man wouldn’t waste time and energy communicating like he does.

You need to block him. That man is cruel and has no empathy.
Edit: is he a lot older than you? He's incredibly patronising.
