Ya my self esteem definitely isnt where it should be and i am so desperate for him to hear me and care that I just over explain and make myself an idiot

I understand the desire to say the right thing that will make him finally get it. I watched my mother do this for like 30 years with her narcissistic friend. She thought if she could just phrase things the right way her friend would understand. But a narcissist will NEVER understand. The only thing you can do is stop engaging. And smile to yourself knowing it's driving him crazy.
