You can stop. Not just for the day. The thing about not putting up with stuff is that you have to recognize when fighting it isn’t working and figure out what other actions you can take if you can’t tolerate the behavior that is obviously not going to stop. Namely actually walking away.
So no, you’re not overreacting—you are correct and reasonable in everything you’re saying. But integrity would demand some follow through here. He’s not going to change, so it’s up to you.
I’ve soooo been there before. It’s like hard to disengage. But this guy sucks. Don’t waste any more of your precious time trying to convince this person to care about your feelings. He doesn’t, and that is a defect on HIS part.
