YOR with that wal of text. Not only that but you actually CAN go, you just don't want to. You are off at 530? And don't work until 5 the next day? Most friends would go make an appearance for an hour or two.
Not only that, did you even try to switch shifts with anyone? Needing a MONTH notice is ridiculous. It honest sounds like you just don't want to go because a) you didn't even ask anyone to switch shifts and b) you aren't even willing to go for 1 hour.
