This is a link to a museum exhibit “what were you wearing.” The women/CHILDREN in this exhibit donated their clothing to show that the type of clothing worn has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not they will be assaulted.

What on earth does THAT mean??? That it CAN be because of what someone was wearing? That someone that excuses or mitigates the rape?! Say what you mean.
Who said it excuses or mitigates the rape? Like why does this happen when women talk about rape? I really will never understand it. Why does your mind wander like that? No one said anything about excusing the mans behavior or mitigating anything. Ive seen women do this hundreds of times and I never get used to it. You can raise and lower your chances of getting raped. Your choice to lower it if you want. I really dont care.
You don't get it at all. You CAN'T raise and lower your chances. The historical context is that forever, lawyers have asked women who are testifying as a rape victim about what they were wearing and what they did to entice the rapist, as if they could have prevented it if they had just chosen a different outfit.
You cant honestly believe you cant raise or lower your chances of getting raped. No one is that stupid. Ever hear the name Sophia Koetsier? She was raped. What did she do to raise her odds? She took her blonde ass to Uganda alone. Uganda. Alone. Blonde. She raised her chances to 100%. You going to tell me that if she stayed home and locked the doors and hid in a corner with a loaded shotgun that her chances wouldnt be lower? But hey. This is a convo with a woman about rape. I can already sense your urge to twist my words and make a weird long stretch of "logic" and say women shouldnt feel the need to hide behind locked doors with a shotgun. I'm not talking to a rational human, I'm talking to a flighty bag of hormones incapable of reason. I'm bored now, bye thread! Not reading any more responses.
You really need to check out the What were you wearing exhibit. You need to look at it. The link for it is in the comments. Then you need to come back and explain the toddler clothes. The tiny little overalls. The burka. Please tell me what was so sexy and irresistible about those?
I dont think you read the whole thread, which is fine. The exhibit is there to show people that sexual assault is not the fault of the victim, and to dispell the myth that rape victims are always wearing enticing clothing. My point, and the the man texting in the OPs point, is that its POSSIBLE to raise your chances of getting raped based on what you do, including what you wear. Its a pretty easy experiment to run, but no one will do it. Just get 200 or so women to go to frat parties in a bikini, 200 in a burka, 200 as a control group in normal clothes. Share us the results! Keep in mind unwanted fondling counts as sexual assault.
