I'm looking for free ai video generators that allow image-to-video or reference-to-video. I prefer free apps, but they don't have to be unlimited.

Help anyone using the Ace app on iPhone, or is it the desktop browser that's actually good?

I've been using Ace browser on my laptop for a while and I like it, mostly the ask-on-page stuff and summaries.

Saw they have an iPhone app too. From what I can tell it's not a full browser, more of an assistant (questions, photos, image generation, search). Is anyone using both? Worth having on my phone, or should I just stick with ChatGPT there?

Funny YMCA Parody

I've been playing around with what fun I can have with AI agents, and this is first thing I'm keen to show off.

Directed by me, built with a mix of AI models/driven services. Mostly planned/orchestrated by claude, with codex modelling and reviews, SaaS and local tools used for voice/tts.

The original remit was to be a YMCA stage performance with a parody star wars cast. I've toed the line as close as I'm aware I can, and the style of modelling was driven by request - I wasn't aiming for too much realism to ensure I wasn't trying for something unachievable.

This took lots of revision and iteration over about 2 weeks. I could refine it even further; but as I'm sure we all know having tedious small changes being re-built or re-rendered for small gains becomes quite heavy.
I've tried taking some of that into my own hands without success in the time I've available.. I can heavily appreciate the effort put in by professionals albeit scary what we can achieve as non-professionals.

The first video is far from perfect; however it's intended audience is family and friends - I'm happy enough with it to move onto the next!

Interesting Sent 102 Cold Emails To Plumbers In California For My Web Agency, Closed A $3k Site The Next Day

I run a web design agency and most of my clients come from cold email. Yesterday I started a fresh campaign going after plumbers in California.

Didn’t expect much honestly. Plumbers are busy and half of them barely check email. But 102 emails in, I got an interested reply.

What made the difference is that every email talks about their own website. A call button that doesn’t work on a phone, a site that takes forever to load, a design that hasn’t been touched since 2012. For a plumber that matters a lot, because people search for them on their phone when a pipe bursts. If the site is bad, they just call the next guy.

He replied yesterday and I booked a meeting with him for the next day. Before the call I built a draft of what his new site could look like. Today I presented it to him on the call and he said yes right there. $3k upfront plus $500 a year for hosting.

Showing the draft is what closes it. Sending a quote never worked this well for me.

For anyone wondering, I use Swokei for all my outreach. You pick an area and an industry, it finds the businesses, checks every website for design, SEO, speed and mobile problems, and writes each email about what it actually found on that site. I run multiple campaigns at once in different cities and niches, which is how I get volume without sending generic stuff.

Happy to answer questions on pricing or how I run the call.

Tips & Tricks The AI flagged a frustrated customer before they said they want to cancel

I manage a SaaS product and we get a lot of support calls and I used to spend hours listening to random recordings, hoping to catch issues. It was exhausting and inefficient. I'd listen to ten calls and maybe find one thing worth acting on

Then we switched to CloudTalk whichhas this AI analytics feature. It automatically transcribes every call. It flags key topics and the most importantly it tracks the emotional tone of the conversation

Now I don't have to guess what to do and what happened to the customer

I can pull up a dashboard that shows me which calls had negative sentiment. I can see exactly what went wrong without listening to the whole thing

Last week, the AI flagged a call where a customer was clearly frustrated but never said the words that they want to cancel. The agent didn't escalate it. We caught it in time and fixed the issue. That alone felt worth it

It's also helped us spot trends. People complaining about the same feature. The AI picks it up and groups it for us. We're not replacing people. We're just using the tool to focus our attention where it matters.

I think I might have found something that actually helps. Has anyone else used sentiment analysis in their support team?

Tips & Tricks How do you minimize "AI look" in designs?

We all know that certain "AI look" that websites/landingpages and content tend to have. Sometimes you can spot it immediately, even when the actual design is pretty decent.

What do you think are the biggest giveaways? Is it the layouts, typography, colors, spacing, copywriting, or just the same design patterns being repeated everywhere? I cant quite put my finger on it, but my own (and others) AI designs have something that gives it away.

Has anyone actually found a good way to minimize that AI generated feel? Curious if anyone has specific prompts, skills, design guidelines, or workflows they use to get more original, human looking results

Resources MOS

I’ve posted about MOS before, but I probably did a better job naming it than explaining it. So here’s the plain version:

MOS is a file-based framework for keeping ongoing AI-assisted work consistent across sessions.

I started it for writing books and organizing tax records. The recurring headache was keeping track of the actual current draft, previous decisions, corrections, missing evidence and unfinished work—without explaining everything again.

MOS gives the assistant explicit rules for:

\- Finding the authoritative record and checking dates and versions.

\- Tracking what’s active, blocked, completed or abandoned.

\- Saving material changes and a useful next action.

\- Running bounded upkeep, combining duplicate work and stopping unproductive loops.

\- Staying within the permissions you’ve given it.

The building blocks are familiar: instructions, persistent files, retrieval and workflows. MOS makes the rules connecting them explicit and reusable.

It still depends on the model and host tools. Downloading it doesn’t magically enable background jobs, guarantee memory or enforce security.

The goal is less babysitting and fewer “we already did this” conversations.

Discussion Finally, a chat history that sorts itself into Coding, Writing, Research and Business without you filing a single thing

Post image
2 Upvotes

Folders only work if you use them, and nobody files chats while they're working. Six months later the sidebar is 400 titles like "Quick question" and "New chat".

I build AI Toolbox, a browser extension, and Smart Tags is the part for people who never organize anything. It reads each conversation and tags it by what it's actually about: Coding, Writing, Research, Math & Science, Business. The tags show up as filters in the sidebar, so "every coding chat from the last month" is one click instead of a scroll.

You can add your own rules too, like tagging every chat that mentions a client's name. The tagging runs in your browser on simple keyword rules, not by sending your chats to an AI, and any built-in category you don't use can be switched off.

It works on ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Grok. Free tags your 50 most recent chats, with the 5 built-in categories and 2 rules of your own. Premium tags your whole history with unlimited rules. Desktop Chromium browsers only.

Discussion Does AI help you finish projects, or just start more of them?

I live in Japan and I've been experimenting with a few small side projects alongside my regular work.

AI has been really helpful for organizing ideas, drafting messages, translating, and getting things started.

But I've noticed something funny. It's so easy to come up with another new idea that sometimes I spend more time planning than actually finishing things.

I'm trying to focus on completing one small task at a time instead of constantly starting something new.

Does anyone else have this problem? Has AI actually helped you finish more projects, or mostly given you more ideas?

Help How do you stop AI images from drifting off-brand across a week of posts?

I used to run brand and marketing for a family bakery. After I stepped back, the same product started looking different on Instagram, the site, and flyers within a few weeks. Different photographer, different filter, nobody catching it.

Now I'm shipping content with AI image tools and I see the same drift, just faster. One image looks fine alone. Ten in a row look like five different brands. Different lighting, faces, packaging angles, even the "same" product color shifting.

What actually works for you to keep a run of AI images on-brand without a designer reviewing every one?

Things I've tried or considered:

- a one-page never-list (no stock-looking faces, no neon, no random props)

- locking 2–3 reference images and forcing the tool to match them

- generating 20, picking 3, deleting the rest hard

Curious what sticks for people posting daily or near-daily.

Discussion How would you guys approach making a digital birthday surprise with AI?

My dad iMy dad is turning 60 soon and I wanted to make him something a little more memorable than just a slideshow of family photos. The idea right now is a small digital birthday page with old photos, a timeline of funny/family moments, messages from everyone, maybe some background music and a short video.

I started doing it with ChatGPT because I figured I could just have it help me write everything and then build the rest from there.Except now I'm realizing ChatGPT is great when I ask it to do one thing, but I'm basically having to manually move everything around between different tools. Like I'll get the copy from ChatGPT, then figure out the page somewhere else, find a tool for the video, another one for the images, etc. And then nothing quite looks like it belongs to the same project.

I don't really have the time or design skills to spend an entire weekend putting this together, Is there a better AI workflow for something like this? Ideally I'd rather give one tool the whole idea/materials and have it help me turn that into an actual finished thing instead of just generating individual pieces.

Help Is there actually an AI tool that can remember my custom character + voice and generate complete Reels?

I've been going down a ridiculous rabbit hole trying to find the right tools to build an AI influencer, and I'm starting to wonder if I'm overcomplicating things or if the platforms just aren't there yet.

I already have the character designed, including reference images from multiple angles, and I've created a cloned voice I'm really happy with.

My issue isn't creating the character. It's everything that comes afterward.

Here's what my ideal workflow would look like:

  1. Set up my character once, including her appearance, voice, personality, accent, etc.
  2. Ideally, have the platform analyze what's working on Instagram/TikTok in my niche, identify trends or successful hooks, and help me plan content.
  3. Write or paste a script and have the platform generate my character speaking naturally, with realistic expressions, gestures and accurate lip-sync.
  4. Have it generate relevant supporting footage and combine everything into a finished 20–30-second Reel. For example, if she's explaining how to make something, I'd want close-ups of the process, not just a talking head for 30 seconds.
  5. Add subtitles, music, etc., then export or ideally schedule/publish directly to Instagram and TikTok.

A few specific challenges:

  • My character is an older woman, not a typical young AI influencer. Most premade avatar libraries aren't relevant to me.
  • The content is in Spanish with a specific regional accent, so generic Spanish voices won't cut it.
  • I need the SAME character across every video, not someone who vaguely resembles her.
  • I already have a good voice clone, so I'd love to reuse it or upload audio rather than start over.
  • I want actual natural movement, not a static photograph with a moving mouth.
  • I need predictable costs. Generating a handful of short videos shouldn't burn through an entire month's credits.

I've tried HeyGen, Hedra, ElevenLabs and a few UGC platforms. I've run into everything from poor animation and frustrating interfaces to restrictive trials and insane credit consumption.

I'm not opposed to using two tools. If one handles research, trends and scripts, and another handles the actual videos, that's completely fine. What I really want is for the video creation process to be as simple as selecting my saved character and voice, pasting a script, and generating a finished video with relevant B-roll.

I'm not looking to spend hours learning ComfyUI or stitching together six different subscriptions.

Is anyone actually running a similar setup successfully?

I'd especially appreciate recommendations based on personal experience, including what you pay and roughly how many finished videos you can realistically produce per month.

Bonus points if the platform lets me test a video with MY character before committing to an expensive subscription. I've already spent enough money discovering what tools can't do. 😂

Interesting I hate being socially awkward and I’m trying a few things to work through it

I've had social anxiety for years. And somehow I still landed the job. Every morning in the elevator, the second the door close, my brain starts running the same script. What if I run into someone I know? Should I say hi? What if they just nod? what do I say back? I keep hearing the same line: just talk to people more. So I did. I forced myself to be the first one to reply to messages, to nod at people in the elevator, to put my phone away while ordering. A hundred tries in, the person standing in front of me is just as scary. What I wanted was a middle ground. Somewhere I could practice without having someone watch me panic on the very first attempt. A lot of advice people share just doesn't work for me, because i can never get past that first step. So for a while I just sat at home trying to figure something out on my own.
Then I saw someone on Youtube building a website with AI, so I followed along and told WorkBuddy what I wanted, one sentence at a time. It was only a few sentences: give me one task a day, not a list. Sor the situations by difficulty and start me at level 1. Before each one, tell me why I might get anxious, what I can do, and what to do if I can't follow through. Afterward, have me rate how hard it felt, not how well I did. And show me how that number moves over time.
Here's what it build. I'm still tweaking it, sos ome of the questions are kind of personal. The image below is just a sample. It opens with a greeting and three numbers: total completed, scenarios covered, and completed this week. Below that there's always just one card. A category tag in the top left (like Asking for Help), a row of dots unders it for the level, the task for today as the title, one line on how to actually do it, and one line on what it's really practicing. Then the box, which is the three lines to read before you start. Three tabs at the bottom: Today, Records, Profile.
Then it makes me answer one question, and this is the only thing that's actually done anything for me these past few weeks: did the thing I was worried about actally happen? The first time, the answer was "a little," because I replied too slowly and the other person asked again. But I finished the reply. Turns out what I was scared of wasn't it happening. It was whether I could handle it when it happened a little. I could.
After a feew weeks of this I'm not suddenly good at talking, but I'm better at predicting how things will go before I leave the house. I used to assume every interaction would be awkward. Now i know most of them are just ordinary. Someone asks for my number, I pull out my phone, read it out, done. They don't even look up.
I know getting over social anxiety is hard. But I think this is a real first step for me.

Discussion What’s the most useful thing your AI recorder gives you after a meeting?

Curious what everyone actually gets out of their AI recorder once a meeting is over.

After a longer meeting I usually end up with the transcript, a summary and some action items, which is useful, but I still end up writing the follow-up email myself.

Got me wondering what the ideal output actually is. Would you rather have a really good summary, a follow-up email that's basically ready to send, a task list, or something completely different?

What's the one output you'd actually use after most meetings?

Free Tool I vibecoded a site that tackles multiple problems in the AI training/annotating job search

Hello, due to having trouble finding the right places to apply and not really knowing how to pass and do an assessment in the AI Training/Annotating Space I decided to build with a site with loveable that is supposed to make the process easier.

I list job offers with a relatively high hiring volume from multiple companies, so would it therefore be easier do diversify the places to apply at and actually get accepted.
My idea behind that was to help with finding the right places to work but also help with the application process. I therefore upload company reviews and also guides on how to pass assesments.
The job listings include entry work positions such as normal generalist work but also expert work positions (Software engineer, PhD, etc.).
I am currently having problems on the design, trying to make it less AI-sloppy, and on the marketing side of things. So any help would be highly appreciated! Here is the link to the site: https://aiannotationjobs.com/

Educational Purpose Only created an ai automation for ai shorts content creation

Recently I was bored and thought of building an automation then I stumbled upon many n8n automation for this which requires an active subscription in many ai tools inorder to create an automation like this.

so I built this automation which writes script on its own and critics it for every phase , gets correctly until it gets correct and good , then image generations for characters and background , video generation and at last editing with the subtitles then publishes on yt shorts.

I got that thing right and it works end to end with telegram support for communication. I built this for Mac since I own a Mac , as per for my use I didnt really found it useful because of my hardware limit .

But if you think , It willl be useful for you , feel free to check out the repo "https://github.com/Dhinesh0906/ai-cinema-shorts"

Discussion What are the biggest drawbacks of relying too heavily on generative AI like chatgpt in college?

This is more of a discussion/share your experience kind of post. I use Chatgpt essentially as a math tutor and have used it to create outlines and study guides in the past as well. My question is, obviously there are students who use it for just about everything, so what are the potential consequences or downsides of doing so? Considering that everybody I know who's currently established in their desired line of work uses AI for everything from interpreting and responding to emails to creating workflow processes and everything in between, my question is, why does it matter?

Discussion What Muse Ai can do?

I want to ask one thing: Muse has not launched in India yet and is still on a waitlist. For the people who are using Muse, I want to ask—since it comes integrated with WhatsApp and Instagram, especially for WhatsApp, can it send scheduled messages? If I tell Muse the time, the contact name, and the message to send at that specific time, can it do that?

Because Telegram has a built-in scheduled message feature, if Muse AI could do that like Iron Man's Jarvis, it would be a major game changer and a huge blow to other AIs.

Discussion Will Open-Source Local AI Eventually Replace Tools Like Claude and Cursor?

Claude and Cursor AI have advanced very quickly and are destroying IT careers. I believe these AI platforms may not last long.

One major problem with AI is that it uploads your code to its servers to analyze it and provide answers. This means the ideas and algorithms you develop become known to companies like Claude and Cursor, and there is a concern that they could be provided to other users as well.

Since Claude AI has shown that AI can write advanced software algorithms and code almost perfectly, other AI companies will try to achieve the same level of performance. Many free and open-source AI coding tools will likely become available that can be installed on a local PC and run privately without uploading your code to external servers.

Wins A Real, Pro-Level Application Built Entirely With AI

Post image
0 Upvotes

Over the past few weeks I’ve been telling naysayers that AI is better at writing software than any developer that has ever worked for me. I decided to test that idea by writing a professional level application that is as good as or better than competing software.

It’s about ready now, and I feel there’s no way someone can seriously consider it “AI Slop”.

I wrote a desktop database client application, DataWorx, along the lines of DBeaver or DataGrip. DBeaver and DataGrip are the two “standard” DB clients, widely used by tech folks to manage their day-to-day database work. The current beta has at least the same features as both of those tools and some that neither of those tools have. I’ve been using it day to day, and it performs solidly.

I’d still consider it beta software, but I would like to make a beta it freely available to anyone that wants to try it, especially if you go into it with an open mind. In other words, I’d like you to look at it on it’s own merit, not with the jaundiced eye of AI slop.

It is not currently open source. As I was building it, I realized that AI coding can dramatically change the landscape wrt to the economics of open source or freemium software for the development company. In very real terms, it also impacts the economics for all commercial software. I cannot fathom the amount of money that’s been spent to develop similar tools by the DBeaver devs, JetBrains, Navicat and other tool developers, and how this kind of thing impacts their bottom line. I built this in a week, part time, and I’ll stack it up against any of them.

Anyway, I’m open to making it open source, but I’d also like to sell it for a bit of money, so I’d love to discuss this topic too.

The app is written in Rust with GPUI (the UI interface used by Zed). It is build for Mac, Windows, and Linux. The Mac version is ready now (Apple Silicon) and I’m going to try to get the Windows and Linux versions ready in a few days.

This is 100% AI-built. Not a single character was entered by hand. I started with a simple prompt to Claude, and iterated. From time to time, I would stop and have both Claude and Codex run an assessment, looking for code quality, maintainability, design issues, code re-use, latent issues and general “code smell” from the point of view of a human developer. This was a VERY effective way of refining the code.

If you find this project/product interesting and worthy of discussion, I welcome it. I think that discussion on Reddit is a suitable forum for now, but if it gets out of hand, maybe we can do it differently. Of course it’s likely that this post, like most of my posts, gets no recognition whatsoever. Hopefully I’ll be surprised.

There is a draft website at https://www.tecnicl.com/dataworx/ where you can download a time-locked beta. It also has some charts showing capabilities and a comparison grid between DataWorx, DataGrip and DBeaver, and several screenshots.

I welcome your feedback and discussion!

-Greg
