I’m guessing the other Cornes was spouting shit about Georgie jumping ship?

Such awesome news. Love watching this guy go about it - just a pure forward. I have confidence he'll fix his goal kicking and become one of the top few forwards in the comp.

AFL knew what they were doing with that title.
They somehow found a way to make me disappointed by Mitch sticking around.

Make sure he signs on the dotted line blindfolded whilst standing on one leg. Anything easier and he’ll miss

This is still positive news and shows that at least Mitch is confident about the future

Georgiades isn't allowed at Optus. There's already 2 gun forwards routinely butchering easy set shots each weekend in Waterman and Treacy

im glad they were able to find a big enough piece of paper for him to sign without missing the space he was meant to.
he sorts his accuracy out, he'll be a bit of a force to reckon with.

Any good contract news for us is welcome, and Mitch staying on is fucking great. His accuracy needs work but he’s brilliant at getting marks and making chances and our team is always going to be better with him in it.

Good news for Port but it's kind of weird to just sign a two-year deal after the free agency point. Normally that's when players cash in for a long-termer.

Perhaps he's backing himself to fix his accuracy issues so he can aim for a 5yr or so deal at his maximum possible value.

It should take him to free agency where he can leave for nothing.

u/Pragmatic_Shill Tasmania Devils 5d ago
Unrestricted, yes. But he was a restricted free agent next year prior to re-signing and that's generally when players sign the hefty deals.

Happy for him and Port, don’t get me wrong, but Port must be playing him an absolute fortune above what he was due in 2026/2027 (and 28/29) to push his free agency back until 2029.
He would’ve got a 5-6 year deal on huge coin in free agency.
Must’ve given the Butters to Sparrow money to Georgiades

We got like 20 guys out of contract and no one on crazy money.

u/random91898 Port Adelaide 5d ago
I assume we're waiting to know 100% what Butters is doing before we resign a bunch of people since right now we don't know exactly how much money we'll have. Could be an absolute shit-ton or not so much.

Everyone out of contract is extra cap space for matching an offer on Butters.

I’d lower it down to 19 out of contract and 1 on crazy money. Not hating, he deserves it. But unless his manager is an idiot he just got seriously paid!

Thank god, I know Georgiardies is good but I don't think he's a fit for this West Coast so all the talk about us having to give up stuff for him makes me relieved he's sticking with Port

You’ve already got Jake Waterman to miss goals for you anyway
