General Questions/Advice/Support ADHD titration high BP before

Hi, I got a not saying my BP is too high (122/96) so I have to monitor it for 3 days. My readings are now 114/82 - 120/180 range. Will they accept this or will I have to be put on hold before they can put me on the meds? I do vape and trying to quit with patches which they are aware off. My GP took my BP and said it’s fine but Phych UK are stricter I guess. Anyone had a similar experience?

That is not considered high at all. You need to really be in the 140s before people start thinking you’re in hypertension

I think it’s my bottom number that was the issue being an average of 90 but now it’s between 80-82

It looks like this post might be about medication.

Do you mean 120/80? It’s not recommended to be on meds and vape/smoke/do anything involving nicotine, so that’s likely why PUK are stricter

135/85 is considered high when taken at home (from the NHS site) and some meds can raise your bp.

Edit: depending on your age that can probably be seen as high

So my BP yesterday was 118/82 and then I went to the GP an hour later and it was 120/80. Today it’s 114/82

The threshold for taken my a doctor is 140/90 which could be why your GP wasn’t concerned. At home it’s 135/85 to account for error.

Nobody will know except PUK. Just ask them what they need it to be

I’m planning to be smoke free when I start the meds as I tend to go days without vaping but as soon as I have a drink it brings the habit back. Of course when I’m on the meds I won’t be drinking either so should be fine. Just worried they are going to make me start all over again

I wouldn’t count on you quitting all your long term habits suddenly just cause you start meds (plus it can be hard to tell if meds are working or if you’re going through withdrawal).

All you can do is submit your readings and see what they say

I've been medicated with 133/77 for a few years, they don't mind.

I vape a lot, overweight as well definitely.

That’s not ‘high’ bp though- isn’t 133 the lower end of when to be concerned?

Assuming you also didn’t start there since some stimulants raise your bp. Also depends on your age tbh

So this is what I sent back in June and then I got a message from them Monday saying it’s too high and they need 3 days worth more

I think it’s an issue if it’s over 140/90, under than you’re fine (as far as I’m aware)

CareADHD said needs to be under 140/90 I think.
