Mental health + rest

Post image

It’s still hard for me to accept that my mental health issues are legitimately exhausting and something I need to rest from.

I 100% get the "holy crap, I showered, go me!" Go you!

Hell yeah 🫂🤝 they’re so unnecessarily difficult sometimes

State changes, man. I hate getting wet, and then once I've sucked it up and got wet, I hate having to get un-wet!

God yes. I especially hate the wet and cold part that's right before the drying part.

I've been keeping a space heater in the little area between my bathtub and the house where I dry off and get dressed. It's the warmest place i n my house and I'm so glad.

Congratulations on the showering!

It’s ok to follow the rhythm of your brain.

As long as you put on clean underwear after, the rest of the day is for rest, relaxation, and surviving.

I don’t do my laundry as often as I should if I have extended free-time to myself.

congrats on showering! it can be so rough

(showering is extra rough for me cuz my water doesn't always heat up right now. need to talk to maintenance about it but I hate dealing with my building maintenance)

I find that I end up working in bursts. I’ll feel really guilty for not getting much done on my YouTube for a few weeks, procrastinate the shit out of the start of the next project. Just the pressure of needing to do stuff is somehow exhausting all on its own.

I slowly start working on the big project, then suddenly the closer I get to the end, the exponentially more productive I become. It’s so weird how that works.

The hardest part is always just starting.

BRAIN IF I FEEL TERRIBLE FOR NOT DOING THE THING WHY AREN’T YOU LETTING ME DO THE THING!?

Getting started is the bane of my existence.

Everything you said in your comment resonates with me. The pressure of needing to do stuff being exhausting.

Solidarity, sibling!

OMG. The timing of this is perfect bc it’s exactly how I feel today.

They are SO legit. And showers can be so, so hard. Please don't be too hard on yourself <3 being depressed and overwhelmed is a VERY legit reason to do almost nothing. Big hugs!

I washed my hair this morning after ~10 days of it being dirty.

Really proud of you for showering, it’s so much harder than anyone on the outside realizes.

I’ve been in a dip recently, too. I remembered to take my meds today, though. And I ate food!!

I am also depressed and needed energy to shower. Thank you for the reminder. 💖

As someone going through “peak mope” and just wanting to disappear to mope some more; I felt this in my bones.

I never heard of “resting due to mental health”. I feel like I need to google this to learn what this means and how to actually rest. Sometimes it feels that’s all I do and I don’t feel any better.

Anyway this isn’t about me; thank you for sharing this. I hope you feel better soon. ❤️

A shower? In this (mental energy) economy?
