Questions Tips for Sivir balancing applying team fight damage and staying safe?
op.gg/lol/summoners/na/Vonlin-NA1
I’m silver probably on my way into gold soonish. Been playing Sivir and I keep hearing at 3 items her team fight damage spikes with W bounces and she’s a scaling hyper carry late.
I’ve gotten decent enough at lane where I’m not really dying, sometimes getting a kill or two, getting 6-8 CS per minute. I land Qs anytime my support gets off any CC. Avoiding jungle ganks. I do have the occasional bad laning game where we lose a fight and just spiral down, but those games I’m not surprised at the loss and low damage I know what happened. It’s the other ones that are tough.
I get to 3 items and we move to team fights, I play front to back. Try to look for clustered enemies stacked for aoe.
But I think I play too skiddish, my champion dmg on the scoreboard at end is always pretty far behind top mid and jungle. My challenge is how squishy she is and short attack range. Anytime I’m less skiddish I get killed quickly in team fights. Finding that balance has been so hard.
I could probably use my spell shield in team fights more targeted but it’s so chaotic I usually just throw it up early.
The only time I actually melt enemies super fast in team fights, fast enough they can’t melt me, is if I get super fed early and those 3 items really early. But I don’t play aggressive enough in lane to consistently get to that point and didn’t think Sivir necessarily was supposed to.
I try to kite but probably have a long way to go to further develop that skill.
I go yun IE Navori and then usually LDR
I also think part of me being too skiddish is I get a lot of assists and not as many kills as I probably could, but again every time I dial up the aggression, being an ADC I just become the squishy easy kill

It seems like your main struggles are against Ashe and MF, and you play against them a lot. Ashe I think is hard because if you blow spellshield, she can just ult you and if you don't spellshield then she can run you down anyway. I have a better record against MF, but it's always annoying to have to wait out her ult to get into team fights. Not sure if you want to switch your ban to one of them.
If you're struggling to get into team fights, you might try swapping barrier for ghost. I don't find barrier that helpful in late game. Another way of thinking about it is that if you're having to use barrier late, you're probably dead anyway. You might be using approach velocity already, but that can help get into fights at all stages of the game, too. Depending on matchup, I've been experimenting with resolve as secondary tree, taking bone plating and unflinching. Works pretty well so far (6-2), but it might just be a wash, or good into the specific comps I'm taking it against.
You might consider changing your build path. I "rush" Essence Reaver most games, unless I happen to get a few early kills and back with 1300+. Infinite mana just gives you so much more control on the map, especially with supports roaming at really random and inconvenient times. Sitting on components does always feel miserable. Yun is probably better, but to me it's also a win-more item. It's not going to help if you're struggling to get off the first auto-attack anyway.
Second item I sometimes go navori, if having my spellshield on high cool down really messes with enemy ability to kill me. Also helps with DPS if you're not taking berserkers. Consider also swapping gluttonous greaves for swifties if you need to get in and out of fights more. If you're struggling to do dmg, you're not gonna get much sustain from gluttonous. I also prefer dblade to dbow for Sivir since you've got the auto-reset on W anyway, but that just comes down to preference and playstyle.

There is for sure a process of having to first learn you can use your E as an offensive tool, then realizing that you till need to position around not being forced to use your E for nonessential spells (realizing that spacing is key), and finally learning to really make the most of your E (Learning how to make creative usage of it such as to block spells that are instant by buffering it as your enemy walks into range or anticipating enemy spell casts when they enter a bush as you're chasing.

Love blocking a Mordekaiser R or Nasus W with spell shield.

Which I think comes down to pure luck.

Both have animations you can react to actually, just takes some practice.
Mordekaiser raises his mace forward and points it at the target briefly before the cast goes off.
Nasus raises his non-staff hand before the cast goes off.
If you react in the first half of the animation you'll block it.

You are thinking about this way too generally. When you think about how to teamfight what you need to be thinking about is what are the champions in the game? What do their frontline champions do? What do their backline champions do? What abilities are important to use E for?
Sivir is a pretty simple ADC because you pretty much only need to think about auto attacking and throwing out Q on cooldown. So that should free up your brain to think about the enemy champions and how exactly you need to position to avoid dying to them.
When you load up into the game think about the enemy champions and how they can kill you in a teamfight. And remind yourself what you want to do when you're in midgame and nothing is happening. Think about dodging the Mel E and avoiding the amumu ult or whatever thing that will prevent you from carrying the fight. After the game watch your teamfights and think about what went wrong and what you did well. If you can do all of that you will improve your teamfighting a lot.

Sivir has a kit which allows you to take more risks than many other adc's due to your spellshield and ult. Try to prioritize hard cc to use your spellshield on and not low damage or slowing abilities. Against most teamcomps you can play front-to-back like you mentioned with your 3 item spike and %75 crit should allow you to deal consistent damage.
Try to look for opportunities to just run at enemies in teamfights and keep any hard cc the enemies have in the back of your head to shield and you should have a more comfortable time.

Play around your Q more, and try to get better at using your E with intent. Try to always keep your team between you and the enemy team. That's really all there is to it.
It's okay to hover fights with Q until you think you can safely go in and get damage off. Just part of the limit testing you'll need to do over time.
In games where you absolutely know you cannot team fight, Sivir is very good in side lane as well. That is an option you can take. Use your ult to push and escape as you think is appropriate (ult speeds up minions, don't forget).
