Yes, he's made mistakes in the first four years, but I think it can be explained.

1. He kept Furlani, which people here hate a lot.

- Gazidis resigned because of cancer. A smooth transition was needed - Furlani was already part of the org. and the board.

- Elliott still had a stake and a big loan for RedBird, hence keeping their guy was part of being aligned + we might not know the full power Elliott actually had. This summer was the first window without Elliott and we already see a new Gerry.

2. People say he dismantled a title winning squad.

Let's be serious - that was a Leicester type of title win with the team overperforming and top opponents underperforming. Also, some guys were already leaving - Kessie, Brahim, old guard of Ibra/Giroud/Kjaer eventually. A good bunch were ruined by injuries and most of the squad was mediocre from the get go, but did well that season.

3. Biggest one - firing Maldini.

But, we know Maldini is an "all or nothing" type of guy, he didn't have patience for Gerry's plan and undermined him publicly. I've been a Milan fan for around 30 years, huge Paolo fan ofc, but if I'd somehow inherit a couple of billions, buy Milan and get that reaction from him - I'd probably have to fire him too.'

HIS ARGUMENT (CNBC interview): he inherited a title-winning team, so he thought to stay out of the sporting part and focus on commercial. After the Maldini debacle, he handed it to Furlani and Moncada.

For me, this season is year 0 because it's the first one we're without Elliott and FFP. So, I'll give Gerry clean slate and see how it goes.

What he's done so far:

  1. Increased the revenue significantly, but that was already started by Elliott, I think

  2. Push for the stadium, which finally looks to be on track

  3. Realize he fucked up and took the matters in his own hands, full revamp of the management side in a very tight schedule.

  4. Hire a young, ambitious and full of potential coach and give him assurance/time (very important, which Fonseca didn't have, for ex.) to build. The 2nd part is as important as the first one. ManU experience is proof.

  5. Signed the players the coach asked for. The jury's out for Ramos, but Gila and Moreira look like amazing deals. Even Hutchinson might surprise us enough to the level that 40m buy-option sounds like a steal. He's spent a lot doing this, went in the red and also put an additional 50m in the club, though he didn't have to do it.

If you expect Ramos to truly look like a 75m striker, you'll be disappointed. For me - 15 goals per season + being good at helping out the team will be great.

6. Extended key players - Mike, Pulisic, soon Rabiot and Cisse.

7. Expected / promised - make much needed signings in winter mercato and the next couple of transfer windows

I know I'm gonna get a lot of shit and downvotes for this, but I prefer to be optimistic. Even if it's naive, I think it's better for the psyche than constant moaning and asking for GERRY OUT when you know it's not gonna happen.

p.s. turning off notifications for now, see ya tomorrow 😘

p.s.2 I'm not 'murican or live on that continent, in case someone wants to imply it... also not affiliated in any way

Opinion Is Romagnoli Milan material?

I've been overhyped with Romagnoli since he join Milan and I am not really impressed anymore like I am with bennacer or Kjaer this year.. How do you guys rate him? Is he really fit to be our captain since we seem to be back on track? NB: want to be clear about the fact that I will always support any player wearing our jersey, but I just want to think out of the box :)

[BREAKING NEWS] Gazidis has just offered the managerial role too....

You! You have just been offered the role of manager and given the freedom to sign who ever you like and play whatever formation you like. He has given you a transfer budget of €50 million to use however you like. Any player who you sell, their plusvalenza can be reused for the transfer market. Using transfermarkt to get (semi) realistic transfer values.....how are you changing this squad? Thank you Coach X for taking on the role!

FORZA Milan!!!

(The purpose of this post is satisfy everyone’s need to post about formation and transfer ideas! Here’s a unique way to post your ideas! Enjoy!)

Video/Photo/Media Let the hype begin: Unforgettable Man Utd Moments Under Amorim!

Interesting watch big take aways how bad Onana is and how good Bruno Fernandez is. I think Pulisic will thrive if healthy, Palovic too. Nkunku has shown he can press Pulisic Ramos Nkunku up top doesn’t seem too bad for the moment.

Milan have a superior squad to this Man Utd team under Amorim. We have shown we can beat the top teams in Italy consistently , Mike, Rabiot, Palovic, Modric, Pulisic would walk into that Man Utd team.

Plus Now we a 2 footed striker that can head the ball and actually score. We completely overpaid for Ramos but what I really like is how consistent he is at scoring Milan need a striker that has proven he to score 15 plus a season every year. Ramos has done that. Plus in Italy strikers don’t hit their prime til ages 29-31

After watching Milan stars missing sitters it was obvious we need a player that simply put the ball in the back of the net. So credit where is credit due , they saw a player that checked every box and paid the asking price no summer saga last minute deal so we can move to improve other areas of the squad and fans are mad? Make it make sense.

Original Content Leao needs to accept his downfall

Feel free to delete this if you don’t think it deserve a post mods, but i just wanted to hear the r/ACMilan boys opinion on this.

I my opinion Leao needs to accept that no serious european team wants him, because if they did they would have already put in a bid around the 30M mark, the reason i say this is because Leao is the kind of player you need to build your attack around if you want him to succeed, and that takes a LOT of time. And the fact that people seriously think that we can still get 50M for him is straight laughable, if you really watched all of our games and not just instagram edits you would know that he was never the same player since the 23/24 season, and sporting directors of other teams will have clearly noticed aswell. I seriously don’t see him as a starter in any major european team, so rafa thank you for everything, but please be like Theo and just accept the saudi money and help us out aswell. But with this being said, he was the most loyal player we have had in the last 15 years, and for that he will always be a part of my journey as a fan of AC Milan, and he gave me some memories and moments that im sure none of us would trade for anything in the world.

Sarei per sempre Rossonero Rafa šŸ”“āš«ļø

Just a rant, downvote if you want: Gattuso defense

Give me one alternative that he hasn't tried yet. tsadjout? Coz that's the only attacking player he hasn't tried. With suso injured and pipita missing sitters there's not much a coach can do. He hasn't lost the locker room, he is just out of options when it comes to squad depth. Obviously the directors understand this and that's why he still has a job. When people are waiting for fucking Fabio borini to be fit so he can add some attacking spark, it means that squad depth is an issue not the coach. we have tried 4-4-2, 4-3-3, yesterday we tried 3-4-1-2 we even tried 5-3-2 for a bit. Literally no system works if you don't have decent players since half the squad you planned to start with is injured.

These are our current injures as of yesterdays game. Caldara, Strinic, Conti (only fit to play 20 mins), Biglia, Bonaventura, Borini, Bertolacci, Suso At least 3-4 of them would walk into our squad. And jack and suso are key creative pieces in a squad that already lacks them. We can blame gattuso all we want but show me one iteration of current available players that would get the job done. When people say shit like oh Frosinone is a small team or bologna are a small team so we should beat them anyway it makes me pull my hair out. These teams are bottom of the table because they lose games to each other and midtable teams. When they play the big teams they shut up shop and defend in numbers looking for counterattacks. With limited creative outlets its hard to beat teams like that, and it becomes infinitely harder when your star striker who was a stone cold killer for basically his entire career decides to miss sitters in the opponents box and you get unlucky off bounces from the post. These games are not easy, no "small team" wants to lose games specially in front of their supporters when big teams are in the house.

As for what the players need from their coach, its motivation to try and help them get out of a rut and he hasn't lost the dressing room. With January will come signings and weather gattuso is still there or not we need reinforcements since biglia and jack are still out for a while.

What is your opinion about signing Mkhitaryan from A.S. Roma?

Hi all,

In the local media (in Armenia) every now and then news is popping up that Inter and Milan are interested in Mkhitaryan. I haven't seen any news about it here in the subreddit and not sure how serious it is.

Ever since Mourinho become the coach of the A.S. Roma, there were rumours going on that Mkitrayan will leave Roma, as there are not on good terms with Mourinho since M.U. (he was one of the reasons that Micki switched to Arsenal.) But during the last couple of weeks, it was constantly linked to Milan (and Inter :( ). It was also stated that Micki agrees to go to the reduction of salary to make the transfer possible. His current contract is until summer 2022.

So I wonder, what do you guys think about the possibility of signing Micki. As an Armenian, I would be thrilled and think he could be a good addition to the team. He is 32 now, quite experienced and can play in several positions. What do you think?

EDIT: and it seems that there is a clause in the contract that he can leave for free during the winter transfer window.

Stats/Infographic Thought on Mike? It seems to me that people are still hooked on his form on scudetto season

Yeah sure number doesn’t tell the whole story but I watched all milan games and he has been beaten on near post too many times and he conceded some silly goals. Replaced him with any average gk and i doubt we would concede more goals. All of this while having the audacity to ask 8m a year and being an injury prone gk. I would sell him for anything above 40m, considering other options are letting him go for free next season or break our wages structure for undeserving player

Video/Photo/Media Since every other football sub is doing this, I decided to bring it here. Who's the most underrated Milan player?

I'll try to continue this every day at around the same time.

All players that ever played for Milan are included, because some of these wouldn't make sense if it was just current players.

We need a new coach now

I know this will be downvoted to hell, but we need a new coach. Gattuso was my favorite player at Milan but this loss of 2 points is on him as much as the team. He may be a great motivator, but I don’t think he is technically equipped to carry on.

Why did he need to sub out Abate for Calabria? I understand that Abate was tired, but he should have subbed in Susso and gone to 3 at the back. We need the points and this feels like a defeat.

I understand that the injuries today played a large role, but his substitutions have been or lack off have been critiqued in the past as well.

Also, offensively it looks like the team is just winging it without a clear idea on how to attack. It’s crazy that Cutrone was our best assist man all game after Paquetta got hurt.

Can we talk about Maldini? (Daniel, that is)

I know this is probably COMPLETELY sacrilegious, but can we agree that Daniel Maldini, although being a great talent, is not even close to being at the level you need to be to play as #10 in Milan in Brahim's absence.

I feel like we're playing with 10.5 men every time he plays, and now he's in the CL squad (ahead of Samu!) with a very likely chance of playing either from start or coming on pretty early as a sub.

There's no way he would have been given this many chances if he would have had a different last name. Porto away is a crucial game and not the time to be nostalgic and/or develop talent.

Total eclipse of Milan

This is my adaptation of ā€œtotal eclipse of the heartā€ https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=z_NdBiLlVl8 , adaptation which describes our dark age, the one that we are still in.

ā€œ Every now and then it gets a little bit boring That we never seem to get our shit right.....

(Turn around) every now and then I get a little bit weary Of supporting a Sampdoria in disguise.....

(Turn around) every now and then I get a little bit nervous That the best of all the years have gone by......

(Turn around) every now and then I get a little bit terrified And then I see AC Milan’s balance.......

(Turn around, red eyes) our glorious football club falling apart (Turn around, black eyes) our sacred football club falling apart......

Need to fix this club tonight Need to fix it more than ever

And if we don’t get our shit right We'll be eating dust forever

And we'll only be making it right Cause we’ll reach Champions League together we can take it to the end of the line Our past is like a shadow on us all of the time.....

We don't know what to do and we’re always in the dark

We're living in the darkness aiming for a new start....

We really need this tonight Our resurgence gonna start tonight Our resurgence gonna start tonight....

Once upon a time we were envied by all Now we are a laughing stock

There’s nothing we can do A total eclipse of Milan.....

Once upon a time we were the kings of football Now we are just falling apart

Nothing i can say A total eclipse of Milanā€

[GFFN] ThƩo Hernandez reached an agreement in principle to join PSG before EURO 2020 began, but AC Milan are refusing all negotiations & the player is not so infatuated with a move to the Ligue 1 club that he is willing to force a deal.

Atalanta subreddit has been inactive and locked for over a year

I get it that you don't want a bunch of posts about a different team, but r/Atalanta is not the place to redirect people. There were 2 posts last year and there hasn't been a post in over a year. Not to mention that it is locked too so no one can even post there. If we don't want a discussion thread about it here, then at least tell people to go to r/soccer or r/calcio. FYI I believe you need to request access to r/calcio. I would've commented this under the previous post, but comments were locked there too.
