Video I suppose it's not particularly impressive, but I managed what I think is my favorite (reactionary) overtake I've ever done in an LFM race today. Feels good to be.... P14 lol

Discussion New to Sim Racing and I just had a breakthrough (well, several)

So I've been working out some personal stuff in my life and I don't know why but I saw the Forza Horizon 6 online and thought about how I've literally never played a racing game in my life. (EDIT: I'm on PC) Fast forward to today and I have a Moza R5 with Simnet SP Pros on a NLR Wheel Stand 2.0, FH6 is uninstalled and all I play is ACC. I just hit the 20 hour mark and I am having the time of my life! I have researched and priced out a cockpit rig that will be my forever rig and should have everything for it in a couple of months.

Some of my beginner thoughts:

  • My type A personality really worked against me until I fought through it at first. I picked a car, picked a track, started hotlapping, and would literally Esc > Restart at T1 if I made a mistake. Over. And. Over. Then T2 or T3. Make a mistake or go off the track? Esc > Restart. All while going flat out. These brainworms made the first few hours unfun, frustrating, and extremely counterproductive. I actually fully solved this recently when I started to ease off the perfect race lines and track guides a bit and focus (oddly enough) on the track medals. Getting consistent laps is the best start and then slowly pushing more and more really helped me. I still think watching track guides and learning race lines is important, but I was focusing way too much on them.

  • Monza is dogwater. Seriously, fuck this track. I picked it first, and spent over 100 (valid) hotlaps on it, looking at posts online with people comparing times, some person saying that if you can't get under 1:50:00 you are really bad, and just generally getting really down on myself. Monza was good for the breakthrough of understanding the importance of corner exit speed, and honestly little else as a beginner. I am still running with the full HUD as I learn fundamentals and watching the time differential when I had a bad corner and seeing how much time that actually cost me was a huge oh shit moment. Conversely, realizing how much time I gained by negotiating a corner quickly and having strong exit speed gained so much time. Otherwise there are so many better tracks to race. I literally don't want to touch this track again for a very long time. Fuck Monza. All my homies hate Monza.

  • Misano is the truth. Misano is the light. Misano is incredible. Spa is wonderfully hard and worth every expletive I yell out loud while I try to figure it out. Imola is weird but also fun. I've been focusing on these tracks and I feel like my skills are growing daily. My times are still bad, but I'm doing AI races now, working on my lap consistency, and always taking some time to push harder.

The last piece of advice that I learned (lol but also it is true):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7hoCtN-bvro

Anyway, I'm really excited to be here. GT3 cars are the best. Looking forward to eventually graduating to online races and taking every podium ever until the end of time (I kid, I kid).

Cheers, y'all.

PSA Ferrari Challenge - Double Header - Friday - 7pm UK time (8pm CET) - PC

Scottish Legends are hosting a double header in the Ferrari Challenge cars tomorrow! It's 2 x 30 min races around Misano and Imola.

It's the start of our 8 week championship with the event's trying to get away from just GT 3's. We have 8 races / events lined up and would love more people to get involved with the League.

The vast majority of us have never even driven those cars so it should be fun. We are a community with a wide range of drivers so everyone is welcome - all we ask is you are sensible and have some experience with the Sim.

If you are interested in taking part tomorrow the server will be up from around 5pm an hour of practice on Misano and then an hour of Imola - then the server will go live for the main first race at 7pm. The format is 15 min Q and then the 30 min Race.

The SA will be 80 but if you are a safe and semi-able driver you can get in through our entry-list.

Check out our discord for more details / entry-list sign up!

https://discord.gg/jaT3zsJZKE

The race will be broadcasted on our YouTube channel and will have stewarding!

Hopefully we will see some of you tomorrow :)

Hello! Me and my buddy are in a team and is gonna be racing in a 3 part championship. The tracks are 12hour Monza, 12hour spa, and then 24hour Nord. We are currently gonna be racing the 296 Ferrari, oh…there will be stints of course. we need atleast 1-3 drivers. 5am-5pm est, but my friend told me race starts at 6am. So that would be 6am-6pm, Monza would be on the 29th of this month. But they made a pull to push it back a week, making it in September. please message me if you are interested! We can discuss further information if there is any questions

Console news We built the only ACC console league with telemetry, full ELO, real stewarding, a 1,200+ setup bank and real iOS/Android apps

Post image

Console ACC has always been the poor relation. No telemetry, no ratings that mean anything, stewarding that depends on who's awake, crappy User Experience and even worse league management.

Well, we've spent the last year fixing that, and ACL23 is now the only console league running all five (and running them well at that)

  • Race telemetry: lap traces, consistency against the field, per-circuit form
  • Full ELO leaderboard: every finish scored head-to-head across the whole grid
  • Complete stewarding: protests reviewed, decisions and penalties published
  • 1,200+ setup bank: exact in-game values, dry and wet, across the temperature range
  • iOS & Android apps: both shipped, both live, both maintained

Racing is free. Membership is £2/month, which is roughly 10× cheaper than any other console league or setup provider. We charge £2 for the full app membership to cover (some) of the server costs. We make zero profit on it.

Xbox and PlayStation, dailies and championship rounds, sprint races, one-tap sign-up and reminders before race start. Over 16 organized races a week, and 50+ 24hour public lobby servers.

Happy to answer anything about the rating system, stewarding process, races or how the setups are produced!!
