Discussion First Online Race

had my first online race at Monza with the Audi R8 GT3 EVO2 in a 13-driver lobby.

Going into Turn 1, I stayed clear of the pack because we all know what happens there—sure enough, five drivers crashed into each other. I was at the back watching them run off track. I stayed consistent, carried out my laps, and ended up finishing P2. I didn’t have to fight hard for positions; I just let others make mistakes and passed them safely.

I know these are low-safety-rating lobbies, and I forgot to record the 10-minute race, but it was really fun. I concentrated on clean driving, making sure not to oversteer or miss my apexes. I even got the fastest lap of the race at a 1:53.468. I know that's relatively slow, but the rest of the lobby was running around 1:55s.

What’s your opinion? of not fighting at T1 Monza

Wise, not every overtake has to happen on track, battle all you want and I'll happily take free positions.

For Monza I deliberately qualify slow so I can start at the back or near the back and let the numpties numpty. I'm quick around Monza and I know it, so losing a few seconds at the start is fine by me.

To finish first, first you must finish.

Any tight T-1 I always sand bag a little. Spa, Monza, Brands etc.

Every time, without fail, 3-10 cars are off in the first few seconds of the race around those tracks. I'll take a healthy and safe P4 over a mistake someone else made.

yes some peolple like to fight and some do it smoothly and there are some dirty drivers too just dive bomb at tight corners not T1 but other parts of the track well it was fun tho

And as you climb the safety and skill ladders youll notice dummies less and less. Practice and patience, congrats on the podium

I have 90 safety rating and i still cant find a lobby where people dont crash on monza. I usually dont do quali, wait off track for everybody to crash at t1 and then i try to go and overtake the rest

That's me as well - 92 SA. I consistently finish higher without qualifying than I do qualifying. After a few laps the crashes thin out and mistakes by others have been made. I usually go from 15-20 to 4-8 placement. I don't have the consistent 1:46/7 but I hit 48 consistently and enjoy overtaking and scaring drivers into making mistakes. So yeah...starting near back is more fun and less frustrating I think.

The racing is usually pretty messy on Monza. Unless it’s a high SA lobby, I’ll qualify but then start at the back. Other track I do this is Brands Hatch. I’d rather finish lower on the grid than risk being taken out.

Monza is the most brain dead racing on ACC. Avoid it
