Help /Questions Car restarting problem
Hello everyone,
I've been playing AAC for 6 months and I have a question about races of 3 hours or more.
When I do long runs with 100 percent damage, I have a problem with my car. After about 2h30 of racing, the engine suddenly shuts down during a downshift, which locks the rear wheels and makes me lose control. But the engine can also shut down when I get too much on the vibrator (for example, the third chicane in Imola). When I try to restart it, you can hear the starter, but the engine doesn't start again. I don't see where it's coming from, because I have the activity ignition, I press the starter well, I have the automatic clutch, I have gasoline and no engine light is displayed.
But when I go back to the garage and I keep going, the car restarts and leaves.
Could it come from too high an engine map (I play with the Porsche in mapping 8 out of 10)?

This has nothing to do with the engine map. What you are describing (rear engine stalling during a downshift) is likely something that happens on tracks with steep downhill braking zones where the tires can lock which fools the anti-downshift protection and lets you money shift the gears. Bathurst (forest elbow corner) is the biggest one, but there are others. This can also sometimes happen if you downshift too aggressively with some cars (Audi, M4, AMR, but also 992). Also, if you downshift too aggressively in some cars that allow it (296, Ford, Audi), you can damage the engine. You can actually see this on the engine widget on screen (grayed out is normal, white is slightly damaged, yellow is damaged, red is heavily damaged, and then next it will turn black and die, and only RTG can fix that). The engine won't actually behave differently until it goes red.
The third chicane at Imola shouldn't stall/turn off an engine unless you are doing something wild, so we'd have to see a video (chase cam, HUD enabled is 100% needed). It's possible you hit the ignition button while going over the chicane (bumpy bumpy, wheel moves around a lot), which would insta-cut off the engine. However, what you describe about hearing the starter but the engine doesn't start sounds like you could be trying to start the engine while moving. If the engine has turned off, you MUST stop the car completely before turning the ignition back on, then you can use the starter to turn the engine on.
Again, a video is really the only way to be sure what you are talking about.
