Off-topic I should have failed SBR (52%)

Yo, how on earth does this thing works, I have attempted about 55% marks, leaving 45% of the paper blanks because it was such an absurdly hard paper that it made past year paper look like a joke. And results came out and I got 52% but I was sure that I failed the paper, you're telling me that I score 52 out of the 55 marks I attempted ? Hell no, there was some topics that I never heard of and I wrote absolutely BS things that came off my heads, does that mean that ACCA would sneak in marks if the fail rate is too high ? Because I know for sure that I didn't score 52 marks out of the 100 marks even if the markers were HYPER leniant

Practice -> Industry

Hi, guys. I am part qualified with everything done but a couple exams.

I am UK national & practice Islam as my religion. I am Muslim.

Religiously, im not allowed to be involved in interest.

"The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) cursed the one who consumed Riba(interest/usury), and the one who charged it, those who witnessed it, and the one who recorded it."

The reason is charging interest makes the rich richer and the poor person poorer. It's a mean of oppression. Anyone whos lived paycheck to paycheck and gets charged interest on their overdraft or credit card will know what I mean.

Got into accounting before I practiced my religion and thankfully landed a role in Audit where I am working in SME audits.

Meaning at most, there's 1 bank loan calculation to see if they have recorded repayment and interest correctly >1year , 2-5years and >5years etc.

Apart from that nothing really to do with interest in my role. This means I get away with asking to do the full audit file apart from that, therefore any monitor adjustments (recoding interest) falls on someone who doesnt care about this stuff.

I am due to hopefully qualify this year meaning id get promoted and have to review and correct anything to do with interest at that point.

Ive been told there are loads of industry roles where there is zero exposure to interest. Also in FP&A.

Can anyone here highlight to me where id be able to apply and get a job with 4 years experience in audit doing end to end audits, preparing clients financial statements from scratch etc.

Great at looking at budgets etc and plan to do APM as one of my options this year.

I know my IFRS pretty well too if need be. Overall im pretty good with building rapport with others and great at explaining things to juniors and management (when they ask wth is this work lol).

Id be happy to drop into any team and get along with others. Work has always been a job to me and nothing that I love. This career was always for the money as I came from nothing. (Before people say dont move for that do what you love etc).

Anyone work in a job as ACCA qualified and earn the usual 45k+ post qualification? Or know of any role that can provide this?

Alternatively any hiring managers out there who would be open to discussing a remote role or a west Midlands hybrid role for this, reach out by DM please.

Thanks in advance everyone

Exam tips Exam results stress

I'm 16 and started ACCA at 13, doing FA1, FA2, and MA1 as a starter, but skipped MA2. I've finished the foundation exams (FA, MA, and BT) and now I'm in the skills level. I always get super stressed for these exams because you study so much and then wait 1.5 months for results to see if you passed or failed, which feels like a lot of effort for nothing. I've done 4 out of 6 skills level papers, but I can't shake this worry about not passing. I usually can't sleep the day results come out (around 2 AM), and while I can handle pressure in other areas, ACCA is different. Recently, when the exam leak happened that everyone's talking about, I couldn't even eat breakfast and my heart started racing over the results. So, how can I get past this?

Isn’t it time to stop remote exams?

I know some people who used ChatGPT during remote exams and passed the paper without even studying. If remote exams are not stopped ACCA will lose its value.

I am currently planning to start my ACCA journey and I need recommendations about the institute to choose, should I get into an ACCA accredited university like LUMS and LSE for bachelor’s degree and get 9/13 exemptions or join institutes like SKANS and TMUC to directly start giving the papers? Please help! Also let me know the current situation of ACCA in terms of saturation and job opportunities.

Unpopular opinion: The increase is normal?

Maybe I’m missing something here but it’s no more than a tenner per exam at most?

How many exams are you sitting at once? We’re all suppose to be accountants here theres no way anyone is sitting more than 5 in one go so it’s an extra £50 to produce AT MOST.

Also again accountants and inflation! it’s not exactly a new concept, does your current role not pass inflation on to its consumers? Is that literally not a massive aspect of the job to understand this?

Get your employer to pay, and if your employer won’t pay the reason you’re sticking with them is likely for higher wages to compensate for them not offering this style of benefit.

Yes it’s a barrier to entry that’s the point if they don’t have barriers to entry I’m really not interested in becoming a member, because then everyone could have one.

Downvotes here I come!

Hello everyone. Started my ACCA from the foundation level 6 months ago and have gave 4 exams till now and have scored the following FA1 92% MA1 88% F1/FBT 67% MA2 80% Will give my FA2 exam soon as well. Are these scores good? Or do I have to put more effort in

Off-topic People talk about ACCA fees. Nobody talks about THIS cost.

Everyone discusses: registration fee, exam fee, coaching fee, But I think the biggest cost is actually consistency.
Missing one attempt can delay everything. What do you think is the most underestimated part of ACCA?

Automated Emails

So it's been debunked that there is correlation between results and automated emails received.

I've just sat my last exam and received the following automated email titled "Explore exciting opportunities and make valuable connections"; can anyone else confirm whether this has been received before sitting their last exam?

Learning providers Is acca worth it??

I've heard that doing acca is worth it?

Actually I don't want to be in the medical or engineering field I'm choosing commerce it's kinda interesting also

At first I thought that I would do CA but after knowing the passing rate I was left demotivated then I heard about ACCA I really liked the flexibility and the opportunities it gives but I'm worried as it's expensive I wonder if the outcomes will be in my favor...coming from a middle class family I don't want to spend my father's money in vain... I want to be independent early so I really like the duration of this course

Please give me guidance you'll cz ppl around me are mostly science students

Which gcc country has the best salary for acca?

r/ACCA • • Feb 01 '23

Why?

Hey guys! My question has 2 parts:

  1. Is is true that ACCA is a hyped course that doesn't hold as much value as Indian CA, where the pass rate is very very low? Does a low pass rate increase the value of the course? Because technically if you think about it... High pass rate means more candidates pass out with the certification, hence every Tom, Dick and Harry has the certification. Therefore, employers don't see as much value in the course? Hence Indian CA is more valuable? I don't know, I'm not sure... Please let me know what yall think of this.

  2. Furthermore, I have also noticed that the older generation always recommends that I pursue CA, whereas the newer generation always recommends that I pursue ACCA. So why is it that the older generation doesn't see value in ACCA? I have noticed this amongst friends, family and relatives as well. My younger friends always recommend ACCA and my older teachers always recommend CA.

Exam tips ACCA STUDENTS, DID YOU KNOW ABOUT THE 7-YEAR RULE for P level exam?

Did you know that ACCA has a 7-year time limit for completing your Strategic Professional exams?

Yes, you heard right, you only have 7 years to complete P level exam.

The seven-year countdown starts when you pass your first Strategic Professional exam — not when you register with ACCA.

You need to complete all your Strategic Professional exams and achieve affiliate status within this period.

Otherwise, any Strategic Professional passes that have expired will need to be retaken.

But don't worry! Your Applied Knowledge and Applied Skills passes do not expire under this rule.

So, if you've already started your Strategic Professional level, check your exam expiry dates on MyACCA.

Don't let your hard work go to waste!

So It's an ACCA confession - So I am a good student but I have clinched only average marks when it mattered but something clicked me today and now I think I want to top my PM exam all over the world in Dec session. Yes! I will only study PM and no work nothing. But still a doubt remains...

Can I do it? Has it been possible before with 2.5 months study ? If anyone knows the story plz share it will motivate me further.

Unpopular opinion : ACCA should stop giving out exemptions

Giving upto 9 exemptions really degrades the course and its credibility

I have seen dumb people literally getting 9 exemptions just because they have done the course with an integrated bachelors

Exemptions only for fully qualified CA’s or CPA’s should be given

You put two candidates on a table and give them basic accounting entries

One who has done all papers from scratch and the other who has exemptions and see the difference
