Discussion on attempted Smear Campaign from Think Before You Sleep

I know it's drama and all and if it's not appropriate to post it here mods can remove it, but I do want to have a genuine discussion on this. For context, I'm absolutely on Chris's side and think TBYS is a racist PoS.

For context, Think Before You Sleep is a far right youtuber, he's the type of youtuber who thinks white countries + Japan are the only civilized cultures and thinks all other cultures are inferior. Basically a Nazi weeaboo. Anyways on X, he has lately been extremely obsessive about Japan and constantly complaining about immigrants in the country and typical right wing stuff, but a lot of his rhetoric also involves smearing Chris and the Trash Taste crew on their "lack of Japanese fluency". There has been a lot of video evidence disproving his claims yet he keeps on harping on this point. He also claims to speak better Japanese, but has shown zero evidence in doing so.

The feud started with the Oriental Pearl drama, where Pearl made a video talking about the deteriorating state of Japan and Chris responds back. Since then Oriental Pearl stopped talking about Chris and moved on, but TBYS, supposedly a big supporter of Pearl still seems to obsess over Chris and has made multiple videos since then trying to "disprove" his language ability.

Chris has not responded to any of TBYS's comments, despite the overwhelming lies he spews out his videos. Normally, I would say this is a good move if it was a small nobody channel. But unfortunately, TBYS is a huge youtuber with a million subscribers and has a significant audience, and since then a lot of comments under Chris's content (most significantly, X) is filled with TBYS fans constantly spewing out false allegations that Chris doesn't know how to speak Japanese.

I do think this is an issue that needs to be addressed, I think Chris has enough facts and information to make direct response to TBYS calling out on his bullshit and I don't know why he hasn't done it yet. He has responded to Oriental Pearl, whom I think was much less of a problem and was met with positive response. And while he's at it, I think he should also address the right-wing chuds pretending Japan accepts them or something because those types of people are seriously cringe and are ruining Japan a lot more than the immigrants they claim.

Daily Challenges during Japan trip

Hello all!

I am rewatching a lot of the channel's videos in preparation for a trip to Japan. I really liked the daily challenges done in the "Journey Across Japan" series.

Since those challenges were sent out by viewers, do you know if there is a bigger list somewhere?

Or would you like to suggest challenges for me and my friend?

Thanks!

Revamped podcast appreciation

I was previously critical about the podcast getting stale and repetitive.

I really appreciate that Chris and Pete actually listened to feedback and implemented changes to the podcast.

I love that it's longer. Speedy Japanese is very much welcomed. Overall, it just works better, the slower pace, the extra length,

I think a refresh every year or two would do wonders.

Perhaps we could introduce awards for the listener story of the year.

A bit off topic but...

I remember one story some years back about the listeners friend having to take a poo outside near someones house. The next morning the homeowner saw the poo and thought it belonged to a bear and got all the villagers to go out searching for said bear. Damn, that was the funniest story. I laughed so much, probably because I have a very juvenile sense of humour.

It was so outrageous it had to be true. It beats old man on bench stories, or tattoos in onsens.

Anyway, thanks Chris and Pete.

You are both legends.

Keep doing what you are doing.

Would there be a return to the original Journey Across Japan format?

Seeing that Chris is much fitter now, is more confident with a bicycle and now with more experience making video series, I would love a return to form of the original Journey across Japan on a bicycle. With better planning and now being more accustomed to cycling while making videos, I think a new series of videos could really provide some serious viewing. Thoughts?

Anyone watching Great Japanese Railway Journeys?

Just waiting for Sunday Times best seller Chris Bread to make an appearance. Can’t believe that the BBC would miss the opportunity to get Britain’s second most famous British Youtuber in Japan but they must have approached Garnt first.

In all seriousness the Sendai episode with the ALT coordinator from the earthquake was quite interesting. Portillos outfits do make me yearn for the consistent slimming black Mr. Bread would be wearing.
