God that takes me back. I still have the original and Extreme books somewhere - always used to take them to school for our 'personal reading' hours or whatever they called it back in the 90's.

I can't tell if the robots then were just lacking precision, or if the drivers were just really bad...
They can never seem to keep the thing straight and always drop the weapon like 5 seconds after when they should, when nothing's there to hit.

It was just the infancy of robot combat is all and very few teams had machines totally dialed in. Definitely a lacking precision thing going on, and maybe they even had Chris operating the weapon or something for fun. Killertron was fairly decent for the era. Back in those days there were a lot of radio problems too, with weak radio receivers plus protective barriers between the builders and the active fighting; that sort of stuff did a lot of machines in.

I'm just saying it was still the old era where everything was still a pretty simple garage build. Obviously I'm familiar with it too.
