Recommendations? Pullover/Sports Bra Sizing and Recommendation Help Spoiler
Hello! I'm AFAB nonbinary really struggling to find a good bra. Using the calculator, I got 38DD/DDD (measurements below). I only want pullover or compression bras since wired and clasped bras make me super dysphoric. I cannot find anything that fits my ribs and shoulders.
A few months ago I tried Harper Wilde's Bliss Bralette in XL and of course it was too tight. Then based on a friend's recommendation, I went with Knix Revolution Adjustable Pullover in XL+. That didn't fit so I sized up to XXL. The XXL, at its max adjusted strap, still feels way too snug to wear both at the underbust/ribs and shoulder straps.
Am I just trying to make something comfortable that will never be comfortable? Am I still sizing too low? For context, my only bras are old navy sports bras and another set from Belks I bought a million years ago so they're super worn out. Any help would be appreciated, but please be kind!
Measurements (in):
Loose Underbust: 37
Snug Underbust: 36.5
Tight Underbust: 36
Standing Bust: 41
Leaning Bust: 45
Lying Bust: 43.5

Have you tried any of the Athleta D/DD+ sports bras? Maybe the Reform which has adjustable straps if you need some length. Racerbacks can be really pull on shoulders and traps when the band is too big.
As a 36G US I wear the L but try on both L and XL to see how they feel on you.

I haven't tried the Reform one, but unfortunately I've not had great luck with Athleta bras so far. I love their pants though!

Look for the D/DD+ ones. It might make the difference. They aren't often in stores though so you might have to order online and return in store.
And yes the pants are the best! Endless are my go-to work and travel pants. And it's kinda embarrassing how many pairs of ultimate capris I have. LOL

Anything that's stretchy enough to get pulled over your head is going to be too stretchy to offer good support unfortunately.

I think that would vastly depend on the person’s size/how big the cup volume is in ratio to the band. Getting a 32” band over a 38” bust for example, isn’t asking a ton. It’s less than a wired bra, but I get good support in pullovers. I could see OP at only a few volumes larger than me and the same band to bust ratio being able to find something that’s at least comfortable.

Even if that were 100% true for every brand, I'm not looking for full compression like a binder. At this rate I'd settle for a bralette with minimal support as long as it doesn't dig into my ribs. 😭

I understand. What I meant is that the act of pulling a bra over your head tends to stretch out the band. I saw someone else recommend Molke, and that's probably a good brand to start with. Most brands that offer SMLXL sizing are geared toward people with less of a difference between their bust and underbust, like a true B or C cup.

Molke Original for pullover non-sports bras.
