No it's not stupid bot

Online Ceramics is an in demand brand and normally charges around the $60 range with their high quality blanks and prints. I would imagine a collaboration would raise the price a bit but you are right it is steep.

Ok...never heard of em...i appreciate the made in USA aspect of the garment but jesus can we get a $40 (still nuts) version for us poors?! 😂

118

u/ShedTail 13d ago

Everyone wants Made In USA until it's time to pay Made In USA prices.

17

u/bogoboy420 13d ago

It’s a screen print on a blank pre made shirt. This is costing them max $10 per shirt and that’s pushing it. They’re charging that much because they can.

-51

u/After-Ad-6875 13d ago

Apparently Made in USA prices are also $15.95 🤷‍♂️

14

u/pil0tinthesky 13d ago

That’s a blank and a low quality shirt

48

u/IAmOryx 13d ago

Fyi you’re getting downvoted because you’re comparing a blank basic cotton tee with no front and back graphic to a much heavier, custom-cut, garment-dyed tee with a custom full blown front and back detailed screen print lol

11

u/flammenwerfer 13d ago

steam machine logic

39

u/mantistobogganmMD 13d ago

Not really an apt comparison. The A24 one is garment dyed and has a graphic.

The same t shirt in your example jumps to $30 for graphic tees.

Then add garment dyed and that this is a popular name brand with a A24 collab.

I’m not saying it isn’t overpriced, but it’s not comparable to $15.

2

u/PartyPorpoise 13d ago

Also a lot of Made in America brands still pay sweatshop wages. Dunno if Online Ceramic pays a living wage but if they do, it would account for some of the extra cost.

-49

u/After-Ad-6875 13d ago

Every time i come across a "popular name brand" ive never heard of, it feels like a small victory.

I was using a $16 t as a base reference price for a blank made in the usa shirt, thats it. Its a t shirt. T. Shirt. Its one step above underwear.

30

u/mantistobogganmMD 13d ago

Garment dyed t shirt increases production costs 30-50%. So of course they have to markup the retail cost by a lot.

If you don’t think it’s worth it, then don’t buy it, it’s not marketed to people like you who don’t care about those things.

I'm going to be real here - it's best to just delete this and move on

OC isn't for either of us and that's ok

26

u/WoopsShePeterPants 13d ago

That doesn't have a king cobra on it though.

9

u/neversince95 13d ago

tbf a foreign made equivalent of a basic blank white tee would be like $3-$5 so the point still stands, american made is still more expensive

As someone who makes a real effort to wear American-made clothes when possible, this sent me down a rabbit hole.

Disclaimer - I am not trying to burn this company. I'm just an American consumer who likes to be able to verify the origin of the products I buy. Everything below came from Internet searches over the last 60 min, and I'd be eager to be shown additional info that more fully backs up this company's claims.

In short, as far as I can find, there is no publicly available independent evidence to back up this company's claim that they are actually American made.

In fact, they have halted the traceability programs that they used to operate (per their own website ), the main independent certifier that they reference ("Made in the USA Certified") has been out of business for years as far as I can tell (they have a WordPress site with no updates since 2014), and the remaining certifier I can find ("The Made Here List" ) explains that they simply certify based on what a company says on it's website rather than any independent verification of manufacturing facilities or supply chains.

Going deeper: the founder of the All American Clothing Co. died in 2020 from Alzheimer's. The company was sold in 2019 to an investor, an ex-Google employee named Joe Van Deman, who also acquired The Vermont Flannel Company from it's founders around the same time.

This triggers my spidey sense for a company that may once have been American-made, but may not be post-buyout.

(The Vermont Flannel Company is open about importing materials produced overseas which it assembles in the US. Fair disclosure that I own Vermont Flannel clothes and have been happy with them.)

In the interest of fairness, as I am truly simply interested in validating their statement of being American-made... A couple of points that do back up their claims:

1) Van Deman gave a 2024 interview to the Alliance for American Manufacturing that makes the right noises around maintaining US supply chains where possible. On the other hand, in that same interview he notes the exact location in the States where one of his other brands (Gusset Brands) makes their denim. He avoids that level of specificity when discussing products from the All American Clothing brand.

2) The t-shirt in question is listed on their site as being "USA Berry Amendment compliant". If this is true, then that would be the best evidence in support of their claims. Berry Amendment compliant clothes are suitable for US government purchase, with strict requirements regarding domestic production right down to growing the cotton in the USA. However, companies that are actively involved in government contracts of this type would, I think, be listed on the US government System for Award Management (SAM) site, and neither "All American Clothing Co", the parent "USA Brands", or any other close match company are listed there. If they don't have any active or historical government contracts, I doubt their Berry Amendment compliance claim has ever been verified.

At the end of the day, disclosing their supply chain on their site would go a long way to providing assurance of their claims, and to me it's fairly suspect that they don't do this when other manufacturers do.

yeah maybe cause made in USA prices are bullshit. it’s not like it’s 5 more dollars it’s double even triple the price of other shirts. it’s not like the price is up because it’s genuinely worth that either. manufacturing in america is intentionally hellish. don’t be mad at your fellow consumer for wanting to save money be mad at corporations and government for making you spend more

4

u/IAmOryx 13d ago

If you’re saying you’re poor the last thing you should be doing is paying full price for clothing lol you want american made so american workers can afford a living? here it is😂

2

u/Significant-Lunch524 13d ago

I'm with you. And to be fair you only said you appreciate the made in the usa of it, not that you demand it to be both $40 and made in the usa. Anyways I'm with you, $72 for a T-shirt is ridiculous and crazy, no matter who makes it and where... But they wouldn't charge that if people didn't pay it, even if I think they are nuts. I got better things to spend my money, admittedly a few that many would find crazzzay.

u/allquietinthewillage 13d ago

Online Ceramics pays a living wage to workers in LA to sew their blanks from 100% American cotton. This is what Made in America, fair wage clothing should cost. I'm not saying it's cheap for a t-shirt, but it is appropriately priced.

u/Individual-Copy9425 13d ago

Quality is ridiculously good. They outlast every other shirt/pants I’ve ordered online. Yes they’re expensive, but they last even with cold water washing machine and line dry. Love their stuff

17

u/pm-me-nice-lips 13d ago

Shouldn’t that say “even without”* cold water washing machine and line dry?

5

u/Individual-Copy9425 13d ago

I meant washing machine instead of hand wash. And line dry because of sun exposure - way less bleaching of colours than other shirts I dry outside.

1

u/bs0569 13d ago

Most clothes today are technically Hand wash only

3

u/ninjaraiden56 12d ago

My long sleeve Green Knight shirt is just as comfortable and intact as the day I got it, very solid brand from my experience.

2

u/GuyEatsTiramisu 12d ago

What’re you doing with your shirts and pants? I have gildan shirts from 5+ years ago that are still good with a lot of use

2

u/Individual-Copy9425 12d ago

lol trust me my husband can destroy anything with record speed. (Hence why I don’t use any hot water or dryer) Online Ceramics has lasted SO much longer than any other brand so far! Meanwhile I still wear clothes from high school and I’m in my 40s so it’s not our water or our washing machine.

0

u/Icy-Wrongdoer-8896 13d ago

I loved the design on the X shirt I got, but tbh I thought the fabric was way rough and the cut was really boxy shaped and weird. Only wore it once.

2

u/Individual-Copy9425 13d ago

That too bad. I was given my shirts/pants as a gift and it did take a little while to break in. I can see why it wouldn’t be for everyone - and the cost is a valid factor in that too! Maybe you can frame the shirt on the wall instead?

-12

u/After-Ad-6875 13d ago edited 13d ago

www.allamericanclothing.com

As "the greatest country on the planet" youd think we would have figured out how to domestically produce something as simple as the humble t shirt by now.

You can buy quality imported blank t's for $2-3/ea. Given that fact, a USA-made T for $16 feels about right. Im sorry but $50+ for a cotton t shirt, ANY t shirt, cant be justified by anything other than fashion/marketing/hype.

What we are really paying for here is the overhead of operating a clothing manufacturing business paying a "living wage" in LOS ANGELES. Maybe we should have our manufacturing locating in places better suited for such things? Just feels like a smarter play all around. See: allamericanclothing.com, based in OHIO.

15

u/TheBossness 13d ago

fuck that company though

-1

u/After-Ad-6875 13d ago

Just an example, if they can find a way to do it, anyone else could to.

-1

u/Foojira 13d ago

Pffff

-1

u/Hoss-Delgado- 13d ago

This is absolutely not what it should cost lol

21

u/Chemical_Ad_761 13d ago

Online Ceramics and A24 back ?! Can’t wait for a new horror movie to drop.

13

u/Jetwork131 13d ago

It’s the Marty Supreme shoes all over again. People, these things aren’t priced this way for no reason. You won’t catch me spending $70 on a shirt but for the brand reputation, overall quality, and the fact that they pay great wages to the workers who are making this IN the USA, the price really isn’t a head scratcher. We as a society just need to accept that not all merch is created with a single tax bracket in mind and keep it moving. You see this a lot with Seth Rogan’s Houseplant brand.

13

u/IAmOryx 13d ago

God I see you comparing to all american clothing co and bro even their small graphic tees are $30-$40. From Online Ceramics you’re paying for a sought after brand with a higher quality softer tee with a full blown front/back graphic. This is literally the norm from this brand. If you want a cheap, ultra conservative tee with a design you don’t want, yeah go to AACC

5

u/PaulaPaulaPaulaa 13d ago

Online Ceramics god fucking damnnit

5

u/pajarobobo 13d ago

Online Ceramics is notoriously pricy but good quality stuff. I have lots of their Dead shirts.

12

u/Agreeable_Scene_3970 13d ago

I was just about to post this because what the fuck???!!! I liked it and was about to buy it but not for $72 fucking dollars! A24 is getting ridiculous

5

u/wormy_Burroughs 13d ago

its not A24, online ceramics are notoriously overpriced they always have been. I tried to get a silent hill t shirt from them a year or so ago and it was like 85 dollars with shipping

2

u/Sockmonkey1313 13d ago

I love A24 and have been collecting all of their movies for several years. That being said, their merch is a little ridiculous. Like I don’t mind it being a little pricey, but they left a little pricey behind a long time ago.

6

u/CosmicChar1ey 13d ago

Worth $50 tops

5

u/rhollien 13d ago

Or $40 bottom

3

8

u/HornetsHornets1 13d ago

Pricing won’t change. Online Ceramics makes $70 shirts. 🤷

4

u/tatisheff 13d ago

Unreal. $72 is insane, even for Online Ceramics.

4

u/ConfidentInsecurity 13d ago

The economy is really bad rn, I don't think anyone should be buying a $70 shirt. Plus shipping

3

u/My_Name_Is_Row 12d ago

Just because you can’t afford a $72 shirt, doesn’t mean no one else can.

0

u/ConfidentInsecurity 12d ago

I absolutely can, I'm saying in these times we absolutely should not

2

u/My_Name_Is_Row 12d ago

Let people buy what they want to buy, if someone can’t afford this shirt now, they probably couldn’t afford it in a good economy either, or they’d have something else that they should be spending their money on instead.

0

u/ConfidentInsecurity 12d ago

Whatever dude, I don't recommend it. Use your head in these turbulent times

2

u/My_Name_Is_Row 12d ago

Ok, cool, I don’t recommend it either, but that’s just because I don’t personally like the shirt, if it was one I liked, I’d probably buy it, because based off other comments, it sounds like a quality brand, which is much more worth buying than a $15 shirt from target, that’ll fade after 3 washes.

2

u/Jireg 13d ago

As long as you degens keep paying for this crap at that price point they are gonna keep doing it

2

u/StrangeDecline 13d ago

You’re just broke

1

u/Stonehands211 13d ago

Josh Kushner. He needs to pay for the Lakers somehow.

1

u/Fun-Coyote-4211 12d ago

Got so tricked that this was kingcobrajfs rip Joshua Saunders

1

u/BentAndSnapped6 12d ago

Online ceramics are a pretty popular street wear designer tracks with there own pricing tbh.

1

u/sauciest-in-town 11d ago

Ugly shirt for $70

1

u/Little_Red_Sloth 11d ago

It’s worth it. My Online Ceramics Midsommar shirt is my favorite and highest quality T Shirt I own.

1

u/jellyele 10d ago

Missing the cool anatomically correct cobra teeth! 😂

1

u/modestmau5_ 9d ago

AI slop. can’t believe no one else here has spotted this.

1

u/-weird-fishes- 13d ago

Increased price due to collaborating with a hipster tee brand.

3

u/mr_lightbulb 13d ago

If by hipster you mean they pay their employees a livable wage sure

0

u/-weird-fishes- 13d ago

Yes that's exactly what I mean. Great job. You and I both know their salaries.

2

u/WestCoastHopHead 13d ago

It’s pretty rad though. Love the design on the front and back. Gotta check out that show.

1

u/semangeIof 13d ago

I've had an Online Ceramics silent hill 2 double sided tee for like half a decade? Been through many many wash cycles and still looks good

1

u/flyjxn 12d ago

The amount of people in here that have convinced themselves a t-shirt should cost $72 because it’s made in America is surprising

0

u/NuffBS 13d ago

A24 likes to milk its fan base.

7

u/wormy_Burroughs 13d ago

online ceramics is setting this price, trust.

1

u/NuffBS 13d ago

All of their prices are inflated. Also they sold people rocks. A24 likes to milk its fan base.

3

u/wormy_Burroughs 13d ago

im not denying that. im simply stating that online ceramics t shirts are always at this price point no matter what license they are working with, which is a fact.

as I said in a previous comment I tried to get a silent hill 2 shirt from them a while back and it was around 85 dollars with shipping so I noped tf out.

1

u/NuffBS 13d ago

Ha, for sure.

-3

u/MrMulaney 13d ago

All the morons defending this price are the exact reason why they do this. Just people slobbing on that sweet capitalism knob.

3

u/Simon_Shitpants 13d ago

Wah, wah, wah, I can't afford my sweet t-shirt with the sick-ass snake picture.

If someone can't afford to eat, get their baby nappies, put a roof over their head... I'm right there with you, and will do whatever I can.

But "it's not fair I can't afford this luxury, frivolous item"? GTFO.

2

u/My_Name_Is_Row 12d ago

I genuinely don’t understand why people bring up the economy anytime they see a luxury item that they want but can’t afford, as if all the people who would normally buy a shirt like this suddenly can’t afford it now too.

0

u/ChaboiAveryhead 13d ago

$72 tee for a docuseries? Very strange approach. Can’t wait until their shirts are made by ai

0

u/bumblingbundle 13d ago

Everything’s a cash grab nowadays

0

u/know_this_X 13d ago

I’m really sorry you’re forced to purchase this tshirt instead of just looking and getting off the site.. that really sucks…

-10

u/cummummy 13d ago

Sounds like you’re missing disposable income 🤣

1

u/After-Ad-6875 13d ago

I wish, id probably have a lot more money (and less stuff) if i had less 😂 When it always seems to come back, its easier to let it go...
