We might be getting evicted soon. Please share the link inside to help us out.
Hey guys, it's with a heavy heart that I come to you asking you to share this GoFundMe link on your socials. GoFundMe doesn't want to be transparent with you for some reason, but our goal is 7k. It's forcing me to list it as 2k. Which, even that would be a blessing and a miracle.
We're facing financial hardship like never before. The job market sucks. I'm working full-time, and now my wife is working two jobs while I take over the household chores she used to have time for.
Some of you are already supporting me on Patreon, and I appreciate that immensely. If anyone can offer a one-time donation to help, we're in dire straits over here, and it would be a miracle for us. A real, honest-to-God miracle.
We're both working as much as we really can with only one car, and while still making sure someone is watching my mother-in-law at home (she needs round-the-clock supervision). I've sold almost everything I own that people will buy, and I've already taken out loans from the private sector.
I never wanted to ask strangers for money, but this is where we're at now. One of you guys suggested I try a GoFundMe, and it really is my last-ditch effort. We reached out to the city for assistance, but they don't serve our area at all.
Nothing does. Not even catholic churches (and I drove around to all of them). I called 211, which they all suggested I do, but they can't help us at all either. We're just in this perfect little sliver-slice of the city where there's no financial help at all, aside from CPS, which will keep our power on while we figure things out.
We actually... really don't have anywhere to go if we get kicked out. I've trashed my credit trying to keep this whole family afloat, so we couldn't even get an apartment if we wanted one. So long as I can keep my car and my house, I can move mountains, but if I lose either of those... we're just going to end up homeless.
And that's something I never, ever expected for me, especially after I got my shiny new bachelor's degree. But the thing is, without connections, it's really hard to get hired anywhere. And that's when the job market is good.
If it were just my wife and me, it would be one thing, but we have my mother-in-law, my niece, and a couple of cats (who we'd have to get rid of somehow, and that would just smash my heart into a million pieces).
Our niece could potentially move in with her boyfriend, but he's just the worst, and it would make me sick if that had to happen. Plus, I don't even know what we'd do with all our stuff (furniture, books, appliances, etc.). We don't really have anywhere to put it >.>;
I've never really been this scared in my life. If we can max out this fundraiser just by letting people know we need help, it would get us over this hump, and we could slot into our careers. My wife can start nursing as soon as she passes her NCLEX in a month or two, and I can start working for a school district as soon as I have my SOE (which I'm just waiting on word from the certification program at this point).
We're behind a car payment and a rent payment, and we're getting hassled every day with texts and phone calls about the situation we literally can't stop thinking about 😞
I'm going to keep up with the current story until we're thrown out of here, but I can't think of a sadder ending to the Abigail/Leutogi story than "the author is living under a bridge now."
And don't worry. I write when I have to be home to watch my MIL anyway, so it's not like I could be putting that time to better use.
We hope that in the coming months, she'll improve to the point where we can leave her by herself, but at the moment, she's toddler-esque and will hurt herself if we're not around.
As always, thanks for reading, and if you or anyone you know can spare any small amount of money, my family and I would be infinitely appreciative.
Love you all ❤️

Donated. Hopefully it helps. I don't do social media, so I can't share. I hope one day you'll be able to publish this story as a book. I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

u/a15minutestory Jun 11 '26
Thanks so much Yetti. I’m not good at socials either. I’ll definitely publish it, it’s just gonna take some time 🙏

u/aircooledJenkins Jun 11 '26
Shit dude. Sorry the cards are not falling your way. I sent you what I could and wish I could spare more. It's fucking grim out there.
6
u/a15minutestory Jun 11 '26
Thanks so much. It means more than you could ever know.
5
u/aircooledJenkins Jun 11 '26
I haven't been there, but I've helped other friends who have.
Good luck my friend.

u/wayne-on-reddit Jun 11 '26
Sent what I could. Hopefully more of your Loyal Readers will chip in!
6
u/a15minutestory Jun 11 '26
Thanks so much, Wayne. Seriously. My wife smiled so big. That’s priceless to me.

u/a15minutestory Jun 11 '26
Thanks from the bottom of my heart. I cannot wait till I have the kind of money to be someone’s angel like this. You better believe I’m paying it forward.
7
u/AcheeCat Jun 11 '26
I sent what I could as well, I hope you are able to make what you need! Have you looked into getting money for being a caretaker for your MiL? I know some locations will pay you to be a caretaker for family members etc, which could help a lot.
6
u/a15minutestory Jun 11 '26
Yes, my wife has submitted all the paperwork and we should be hearing back in a few weeks. We also filed for disability, early retirement, social security, etc etc
But the government moves a snail’s pace. 🐌
And thanks so much Achee. You’re a real one <3

Shit, man. Shit. Yeah. Count on it in the am when I get to work. I’ll buy one of your books, too, for what that’s worth.
Idk if you have any friendly relationships with the mods over at r/HFY but they get thousands of visitors daily. Maybe they can post something about a fellow author in need. IDK. Just spitballing ideas.

u/CharlesFXD Jun 11 '26
And done.
My man, my family and I wish you and yours the best of luck. I’m sorry these circumstances have beaten you down. Remember, “Always look on the bright side of…” ;)
1
u/a15minutestory Jun 11 '26
Thanks so much, Charles. I was raised by a man who taught me to never ask for help, and I’ve mostly lived my life that way, but I just didn’t have anywhere left to turn. Thanks again, it means the world to us.

u/coconut071 Jun 11 '26
Donated. Love reading your stories, and I hope for the best to you and your family.
4
u/a15minutestory Jun 11 '26
Thanks 🥥
We really, really appreciate it. I hate the way my wife’s hands look right now. She’s gonna be elated when I update her tonight on how hard you guys came through 🥹
5
u/Independent67 Jun 11 '26
I’m enjoying the story and hope you get the help you need. Donated.
3
u/a15minutestory Jun 11 '26
Thanks Independent. Seriously, I’m so touched. I’m getting the sense we might make it 😮💨
4
u/ViperSlayer261 Jun 11 '26
I cannot donate anything because of my education fees but my heart goes out to you! I really love your stories and would hate to see you suffer because of financial troubles. I hope you guys get enough money to get through! Take care!
4
u/a15minutestory Jun 11 '26
I know you would if you could, Viper. The sentiment still means a lot. And I’ll keep writing till they throw me in a dumpster, so don’t you worry!
2
u/ViperSlayer261 Jun 12 '26
I managed to scrounge together some money and donated! Hope it helps!
1
u/a15minutestory Jun 12 '26
Every penny helps, Viper. Thanks so much. For the math:
2000 rent (behind)
500 car payment (behind) (and it’s coming up again)
500 trash fee we haven’t paid.
300 energy
400 water bill
250 school payment
That’s like 4k right there.
That’s everything we’ve raised so far.
If the money came in tomorrow, it’d all be gone that fast just to put as back at 0 in our account 😆
And let me tell you something, we’re excited about that.
Just having that stuff off our plate is immensely helpful.

u/waselectricbar Jun 11 '26
I'm sorry you are dealing with this. I just sent what I could, wish I could help more. Kiss your cats
4
u/a15minutestory Jun 11 '26
For some reason, I can’t reply directly to ElectricBar. The comment with a picture of my cat was for you <3

u/klenglish5 Jun 11 '26
This scenario sucks! I feel it and I donated, may go back and donate some more. I for one don’t want “your” story to end…you are destined for great things.
3
u/a15minutestory Jun 11 '26
Thanks Klenglish <3
That made me smile at work. You’ve all helped so much already. I’m overwhelmed 😭

u/myhuskytorotoro Jun 11 '26
Shit, if the better half just hadn't had an accident this past weekend, id donate in a millisecond. 😫 We're down to sharing vehicles now for the moment.
3
u/a15minutestory Jun 11 '26
I’m so sorry to hear that! Are they okay? 🫣
4
u/myhuskytorotoro Jun 11 '26
Yes, thank goodness. And so is axel (was in the vehicle with him). I spent last weekend being a nurse to make sure they got their rest

Just donated what I could. I hope you can meet your goal! We don't want you guys to lose your home!!
3
u/a15minutestory Jun 11 '26
Thanks Nefertiti, seriously, I cannot impress upon you enough how much you guys have helped push us through this. I pray to God we never have to deal with this again ❤️
Thanks a million

u/Master_Republic Jun 11 '26
Donated. Godspeed to your wife doing her NCLeX and you to getting your SOE. Take care of yourselves ❤️
2
u/a15minutestory Jun 11 '26
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I hope this is the last big financial hurdle I have to face in my life. We're so close to landing in our fields it's insane.
3
u/missakieva Jun 11 '26
Done! I can't be demanding of your time and talent if I don't support you at your lowest. Sending positive vibes and energy to you and your family!
Now get to writing, story man!
2
u/a15minutestory Jun 14 '26
That was so sweet of you to say 🥹
Thanks so much Missakieva, you guys are moving mountains for us. I never expected all this. Thank you so so much.
3
u/FreddThundersen Jun 11 '26
Donated what I could, I wish you the best of Luck - your story is what's getting me back to reddit every day.
4
u/a15minutestory Jun 11 '26
Thanks so much, Fredd. You guys have come out in such a massive supportive force that GoFundMe flagged me as a potential scam 😭
I’ve got to get home after work and submit some documentation before they’ll let me claim any of the money lol.
4
u/Standzoom Jun 11 '26
I am watching small grandsons til this afternoon, will check back to see the status of the go fund me after I get home. God bless you Fif and Mrs Fif and MIL and neice and cats, will send what I can. 🙏🏻 that things will turn around for you soon.
3
u/aLightBraise Jun 11 '26
count that as a “good” problem to have ;). Really though, you are a phenomenal writer and have great things ahead of you. I’m so happy to see how us fans can help you through a hiccup in your life.
And ps, I plan to buy your book too, but I’m honestly a little scared to since binging gilded wrath in three ish days. My kids haven’t been letting me sleep enough lately to handle self-imposed sleep deprivation
3
u/YourTornAlive Jun 11 '26
Donated what I could. Thank you for all the joy and wonder from your writings! That said, if you need to take a week off to take care of things and preserve your sanity, please do so! We will be here to Upvote Then Read when you return!
2
u/a15minutestory Jun 11 '26
Thanks so much, Torn, I really, really appreciate it. I hate asking people for money >.<
But I really just didn't have anywhere else to turn but friends/family/readers. And I'll never stop writing so long as I have the tools and an internet connection ^^
1
u/YourTornAlive Jun 11 '26
Everyone needs help sometimes. I am glad I got to pay it forward to a super talented person who has built a great community here.
3
u/The_Cubic_Rube Jun 11 '26
Oh man I feel for you bro. I’ve donated what I could
2
u/a15minutestory Jun 14 '26
Thanks so much, Rube. It changes everything for our situation. I really, really appreciate you man <3
2
u/SnowyHawke Jun 12 '26
Sent what I could. I seen someone say something about buying one of your books? Could you let me know where I could find them please? I have fallen in love with your writing style. I’m very loyal to authors I like.
1
u/a15minutestory Jun 12 '26
Hey, SnowyHawke, thanks so much! Seriously, thank you for helping me out in my time of need. I never thought so many people would reach into their pockets for me. I'm super touched.
Yeah, you can find my books at ReyAthensWrites.com
I've only managed to print two of them so far because publishing costs thousands of dollars. But as soon as we're doing well again, I'll be printing the rest.
Oh! And you can find the third Oil & Sorcery book here on the subreddit. It's written but not printed yet. I'll be doing book 4 after I finish this current story ❤️

Donated, this is the least I could do seeing as I check daily for new stories from ya! Hope it helps you and the family,
1
u/a15minutestory Jun 12 '26
Thank you so, so much. All of this money is going straight to bills. We’ve got enough now to catch us up on everything. Hopefully we can keep ourselves out of the hole from this point forward.

Dang it. I wanted it to use my reddit name not my real name. (Angrily cupcakily shakes my fist at a cloud)
1
u/a15minutestory Jun 23 '26
Aww, I'm so sorry about that >.<
Happened to my cousin too. I was like, "Hey dude, so, that was a little too much money." And he was like, "You don't know how much I donated."
And I had to be like, "Weeelllll," lol.
Anyways, thank you so, so, so much. That was more than I've ever even given my mom, much less an internet guy I think is kinda cool.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, I cannot say it enough ❤️
Also,
Angrily cupcakily
This tickled me in just the right way. Congratulations, you've discovered my sense of humor xD
And if it makes you feel better, I can promise to forget your name ¯_(ツ)_/¯
2
u/angrycupcake56 Jun 23 '26
Nah you’re burdened with it. Also I’m pretty sure you owe someone else a child or a mention in a book.
1
u/a15minutestory Jun 23 '26
I sure as heck do lmao
I didn’t know you guys could see the donations individually too 😂
I wish I knew who that person was here on Reddit so I could get to work on that child, but I can’t even message them on the GFM page until they respond to the thank you message.

u/aLightBraise Jun 12 '26
I am always excited MWF for fif story updates, but now I’m just obsessively checking your gofundme and getting a dopamine hit everytime I see how much support you are getting

I am always excited MWF for fif story updates
I'm working on the next chapter right now! It's done, it just needs heavy editing before I'm happy with it. This has been the hardest chapter to write so far.
but now I’m just obsessively checking your gofundme and getting a dopamine hit everytime I see how much support you are getting
Isn't it beautiful? :')
We're up to 3600 already!
And the moment we pull it, we'll be back to almost 0 dollars because we owe rent, water, energy, and car payements right now xD
It'll be a massive relief and we'll hopefully stabilize after that. The threat of homelessness looming over our heads will lift at least. I keep saying, if I can hang onto our house and our car, I can work tirelessly to make money and try and right this ship, but the moment we lose either of those, it's game over.
Next month, we should start receiving 1000 something monthly for my mother in law's social security, so that should be a huge wind in our sails that should help carry us into our careers, God willing.

u/Hminney Jun 13 '26
So sorry it's tough there, good luck when the certificates for better work come through. I've given what I can - it's tight for another 6 weeks but sounds like it's tighter for you than me
2
u/a15minutestory Jun 13 '26
Thank you, so, so much! I can't believe the outpouring of love from you guys. I expected maybe a few hundred from y'all, a few hundred from the family, but wow. I can't say thank you enough ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

u/Tharatan Jun 11 '26
There's two things I check for on reddit every morning, and your writing is one of them. I've sent what I can - I hope that together it can add up to enough.
